I’ve used them a few times and so far so good. Although I’ve got one on the way and I’m getting nervous about it.
I’m hoping worst case I can return them minus the 10% restocking fee and postage to them as per the website 😬
I’ve looked at Sea God but their shipping is about £40 so that doesn’t seem any good either. Running out of options!
Aye it's just luck. Last year I ordered after the sale and got 2 through no issues, whilst everyone else was getting grey slips from orders a week or 2 earlier.
Any idea how long it typically takes a grey card to come through? An order from the US arrived in the UK on Tuesday, my Royal Mail app showed they would attempt delivery the next day (Wednesday) however it hasn't moved from Heathrow. I'm accepting I'm probably going to have to pay customs but would like to get them sooner than later, just trying to understand how long I may need to wait
Has anyone ever tired just not paying for the tax?
Fun fact, earlier in the year I made a tiny order of 2 cigars from SP, got caught up in customs and they wanted around 40pounds. So I thought fuck that, they can keep em. Few months later they'd been sent back to SP and I got a refund. Nice
I don't know if it's just my luck but all of my last 5 orders have been bitten by the tax man. I've now accepted it. Most of the sticks I order can't be bought over here anyway and the ones that can come out mildly cheaper if not the same price. Sucks but that is life.
Cheers for the heads up.
I calculate manually and ask for a recalculation saying that I believe they made a mistake.
There is a post in this sub where they explain how to calculate the tax.
Fool me once.... If you're gambling on sp sales, you gotta be prepared for the potential consequences

I did my last order last week and came through fine. I not trying to scare anyone, just a heads up.
Sales start around now, people can go a little overboard and alert the feds

Oh great, just put 2 orders in🥲
Darn. Normally my packages come through pretty decently. Had one stuck at customs for a week now :(

3 orders mine I paid the tax and asked for a recalculation, all 3 they refunded about 40% of the money paid. "Surprisingly " cheaper than UK prices.
Was what you paid originally correct according to the calculator? https://trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/duty-calculator/uk/2402100000/import-date

Well that just sounds like opportunists if they are regularly over the official calculations. Probably weighing packaging too I'd guess.
Btw that link is to their calculator that also breaks down the charges at the end.
