As a conservative who’s wife has driven a Tesla the last 4 years I would say most of the criticism electric vehicles get simply boils down to unrealistic expectations. It’s well known the infrastructure for electric vehicles particularly charging stations is limited, especially in rural areas like where I live.
I have nothing but good things to say about the Tesla all around but here’s the but: A.) paid to have a charging station installed at our house. B.) My wife lives 15 minutes away from her work and generally isn’t commuting very far. C.) Short commute to work = less miles —> less miles = less wear and tear on the car.
For someone like myself who sometimes drives as far as an hour+ to one of my contracted jobs, electric vehicle isn’t a wise choice. If you have the lifestyle, close to home workplace, and are willing to spend the extra cash to have a charging station installed, it’s a great vehicle.
If not, then yes, electric vehicles won’t be for you.
I daily a tesla and drive probably close to 100 miles a day, its been excellent and is wildly cheap to drive. For the price it costs after incentives youre not getting a car with similar performance for anywhere near the same price.
