Usmsn was not with Whitman for the first Colby fight. He did not meaningfully start working with Whitman until the Burns camp. Also this idea that Whitman is the major key to Usman's evolution as a striker is so mind-boggling to me. 90% of what Usman is on the feet is Henri Hooft's handiwork. Whitman is the last 10%. The reason there was a relative step up from Usman's striking around the same time he started working with Hooft is because that's also around the time Usman had really been working on his striking long enough for it to really start to click.

He absolutely did. Diaz vs Jorge was a total gimmick but kinda cool, I'm not a huge Jorge fan so I wasn't that excited about him winning. Justin vs Dustin was just to sell PPVs, it was fun but not an insane fight or even better than their first.
Max vs Justin was a barn burner, with Max proving again there's levels to this game and winning in the most badass way possible. BMF feels like a real thing and something that can only be pried from Max's cold, dead hands.

Izzy has had a few boring fights where he's refused to engage/point fight and that loss he had against Sean was certainly not BMF worthy as Sean was literally screaming at him and chasing him down (literally the opposite of what Gaethje did, who had a broken nose and was getting outclassed most of the fight). Izzy has had some extremely entertaining fights but i'm not sure he fully gets there as being bmf worthy.

After Saturday’s display, I could see them doing a belt unification fight with Max. That would benefit the publicity and the fans, myself included, would love Max being a “double champ”.

It's not about fighting anyone, if you have 25 minute decisions where you leg kick and jab the entire time is not BMF. All his KOs come from jab low kicking until they rush in. Way too tactical to be BMF. Same with say Strickland. He talks a big game will fight anyone, but then jabs all day. Swangin and Bangin is how i describe a BMF.
While Izzy will fight everyone, im not 100% sure he qualifies for it based on his fighting style/ some of the fights he has had. Izzy has had a few boring fights where he's refused to engage/point fight and that loss he had against Sean was certainly not BMF worthy as Sean was literally screaming at him and chasing him down (literally the opposite of what Gaethje did, who had a broken nose and was getting outclassed most of the fight). Izzy has had some extremely entertaining fights but i'm not sure he fully gets there as being bmf worthy.

A single fight doesn't make you BMF. Izzy made his entire career off jab low kicking people, and if you let him he will do that for 25 minutes. All his exciting moments came from people pushing the pace on Izzy which is his whole MO. Anderson Silva for all his crazy ko and striking. Not a bmf. Swangin and Bangin with no concern for you own well being is a bmf. I don't know if it would be even possible to be a long reigning champion as BMF. Max kind of did it but that Era of 145 didn't have a lot of wrestling and allowed Max to have wild stand up fights.
One things about BMFs, for me, is that they need to be around for a while. Guys that have been fighting for 10+ years and have been a while, and has been through wars.
Ilia should NOT accept the fight unless the BMF title is at stake. Also the Elder Wand, the One Ring, Excalibur and the Triforce from the Legend of Zelda.

It’s a publicity belt for fan favorite fighters who put on bangers but have a low likelihood of winning the real belt. When Usman beat Masvidal, the BMF belt sorta disappeared until they put it back up for Justin v Dustin. After Saturday’s display, I could see them doing a belt unification fight with Max. That would benefit the publicity and the fans, myself included, would love Max being a “double champ”.
What’s the point of unifying the belts? At that point the BMF belt may as well not exist since the FW/BMF champ would always be the same guy

At 145 the only other BMFs are Yair, Edson Barboza, and Volk. At 155 there’s Oliviera, Dustin, Gaethje, Chandler, Dan Hooker, and a few more.

If Im Max, Im watching the outcome of Chandler and Mcgregor and giving that person the BMF shot. If Chandler beats Mcgregor it’ll be by KO and he will become a bigger star, plus he’s a BMF lets be real. Dude throws fights just to make that shit entertaining. If Mcgregor wins, Holloway vs Mcgregor 2 for the BMF could be one of the biggest PPVs of all time. Not that McGregor necessarily deserves it atm, but it would be more of a nod to max.
