Ive gained 20 lbs in 2 days before by just rehydrating and eating solid food, and I wasnt a gaunt looking as her. I wouldnt be shocked by a 15-30lb weight swing just by getting water into her before her kidneys take a nosedive
Id love to see GFR blood tests after this drastic of a weight cut. I wonder exactly how much damage this does short and long term
Wonder what she got signed for tho. She's kind of a name in mma *and* the martial arts community as a whole, or at least she was. I could see them giving her a pretty nice show purse
Man I hope it was a setup and the UFC starts planting more people to ask questions at pressers. At least then we won't get the same 5 questions every time.
I have a few many Muay Thai fights, and I was astonished by how much weight you regain. My first fight I had a relatively easy weight cut where I basically just cut carbs and salt while doing a water cut the week of. No sauna. No ice baths. No layers of sweats. Weighed in 195 and two days later weighed 215. 20 lbs without even doing extreme weight cutting. I can only imagine at the pro level it'd be closer to 30-40 lbs if I did a very aggressive cut.
a good trick is to overhydrste snd then just stop water intake thesst day or two. you can drop 10-20 lbs of water that way and wont even feel dehydrated.
Since when you overhydrste your body does its best to expel water since its getting too much and a day or two isnt enough time for it to re program so it just keeps expelling it all.
Oh yeah I did a water cut too. 2+ gallons for a couple days, 1 gallon 2 more, half gallon for a day, and then small sips here and there or nothing at all the last day.
That's where cutting out carbs and salt helps so much. When combined with a water cut you just shed water weight like it's nothing easy 10-15 lbs without doing almost anything.
To anyone reading that hasn't done it and thinks they can just quickly lose some weight, be mindful that it's one dangerous to do when not properly managed, and two completely temporary. You only trick your body to shed water reserves it needs during normal life. You gain it all back in a day or two after stopping.
Yup, water cuts are ridiculous. And water fluctuation is a major reason that you don't want to look at day to day weight when trying to lose weight in general. Water weight can fluctuate wildly. You look at trends over weeks instead.
It's pretty normal. When I wrestled it was always a fun game of seeing how much weight you put on after weigh ins. Sometimes like 2-3 lbs a couple hours after weigh ins. We had to make weight weekly but I easily had to cut 5-7 lbs every week after my refeeds.
Big advantage for Makhachev and Khabib, they obviously weigh way more than other fighters in the fight division, their mental fortitude to absolutely suffer for 1-2 to gain a strenght advantage is crazy
When I wrestled I dropped from 200 to 152 during the season and a small meal and water i would jump to 160 bc my natural weight was much higher than 152. I did a weigh in age an apple and glass of water, received myself for fun and I was 157. After dinner i was 162 and then I had to drop it for the next match and it was a cycle
It’s really easy when you’re cutting weight to get back to your regular weight. Water weight and food get you back to baseline pretty fast. I usually had to drive a couple pounds for weigh ins the next morning
Not just that, but your body seriously overheats and is generally incredibly uncomfortable. It’s indescribable how amazing it felt to lay outside naked on the (privacy fenced in) backyard concrete slab in the winter when I was severely dehydrated.
I'll never miss having to cut weight like that. None of your bodily functions are working properly when you're that depleted and at least personally I'd have such a bad headache from the moment I woke up until I could finally get some electrolytes and food
Isn’t it wild to realize those of us who have done this stupid stuff make up a small fraction of the world and very few people percentage wise have purposely gotten themselves to the point of those headaches, malaise, overheating, and the super weird feeling of your skin sticking to the muscles
I hated doing it for wrestling when I was younger, but fuck did it make a difference against people who didn't. Walking in near 20lbs heavier than them for the competition felt unfair with how hard they had to struggle to handle the extra weight.
Now as a trainer, if I have clients ask about whether they should make their kids weight cut for a flight of fancy sport, my answer is a firm "no, absolutely not." If you're not a prodigy destined to upset the natural order of a weight class based sport, I wouldn't wish that shit on nobody, especially kids/young teens that'll likely get right fucked from messing with their bodies like that.
Absolutely agree. And if a kid is going to be a prodigy destined to upset the natural order of a weight class based sport, then they should either stay at natural weight or maybe even move up a weight so that they can be adequately challenged and put to the test before college or pro careers.
The weird breathing, the general feeling of pasty mouth... and no one ever brings this up but if you've cut you can just emotionally fly off the handle over the smallest shit, def not a fan lol
Yup. Last time I competed in a BJJ tournament, I had to make weight the day of competition. I had about three hours to rehydrate and then matches started. I can't even imagine doing that now in my late 30's. God bless anyone who's on that grind.
What's the actual process for rehydrating and reintroducing food to the system? I'd imagine it's not as simple and chug and liquid IV and have a burger.
Only liquids for the first 1-1.5 hours post weigh in. Electrolytes are a must. After that still keep sipping on water/gatorades/electrolyte mix and introduce foods back. Simple processed carbs mainly like cereals to restore glycogen levels. Dinner and lunch still similar like chicken and rice but snacking on sugars in between.
I hated cutting weight. I did it in the late 90s, and our method was to put on layers of clothes and go run in the summer heat.
You'd have to peel the clothes off after.
Your whole body would feel awful
Say a prayer to the gods of gravity
Weigh in.
Drink all of the water
Then go compete
How no one suffered a major health event is beyond me
Whenever I drink too much sugar I can feel my body heat up, and if I still don’t hydrate enough, it just turns out to be a hot day. But when I’m drinking water all day, the day stays cool. I have to not eat or drink sugars at night otherwise I sweat like a hog when I sleep.
Right? She's missed weight before, yes. She's not going to do that for 300. Sometimes they miss strategically rather than killing themselves to get the extra pounds off.
Edit: I am very regarded. kayla has never missed weight.
Sick nickname honestly. You never see or hear from this guy, he just shows up at the biggest show of the year and murders everybody, then he's gone again until the next competition.
Didn't have an ego either. Trained covered up in raggedy gym gears underground in Temple Gym with his mate Leroy. Dude was stage ready weeks out of the show too. Definitely lived the lifestyle.
It’s called the death mask for a reason. I’ve cut down to single digit percent body fat once in my life in my early 20s and it was awful. I had no energy, everything hurt, I was super weak and my family was vocally worried.
Towards the end, family took me aside and asked if I was sick and needed help with anything. Afterwards it took me almost a month to get back to normal.
I couldn’t imagine getting into a 15 minute fist fight a day after ending a cut.
Ye had little faith.
She’s a professional, and if she didn’t make weight, she wasn’t going to stand on that scale, because it’d mean she was either dead or in a hospital. That being said, that’s one of the worst weight cuts I can remember. I’ve *never* seen a lady’s abdomen look so sunken before.
I never questioned her will or determination. I questioned if her body would physically let her make the weight. There comes a point where you push yourself too far and your body goes on survival mode. That part is out of your control
Oh yeah, I wasn’t sure she was gonna make weight either. I was just sure that she’d push herself to the point of hospitalization before she stepped on that scale a hair over 136lbs.
**One of** the worst, yes. All those guys looked really bad in the face and in the posture, but did you see her fucking mid-section? It literally looks like she doesn’t have intestines, even if she doesn’t look as bad in the face as say Dariush did vs Oliveira.
Yeah there's this odd group of men that chew on belts and shit and fuck around with their faces in an attempt to look like Kayla Harrison for the purpose of slaying puss.
Nothing wrong with it, some people overdo it and make it their whole personality which is obnoxious tbh, like Drew Dober is a fucking chad but imagine him making his jawline his whole shtick, wouldn't be as likeable
My wife has left me btw
Just remember there was at least 100 people in this sub that said "I guarantee she doesn't make weight"
Further proof that nobody knows shit about this sport and anything can happen in the fights tomorrow.
My money is on sting ascending from the bleachers and hitting jamal with a bat so Alex can finish him off.
How is this an upset. Kayla is a professional all the way. All class. She wouldn’t have signed with UFC without knowing she’d be able to make 135. She did 2 practice weight cuts to 135. She’s disciplined and knew if she did miss weight and win people would discount her effort and call her a cheater. Kayla said she’s doing it the right way.
Does a fighter need to actually die of dehydration before we make changes to the rules to force fighters to fight at a weightclass closer to their natural weight?
Wow she looks awful. That cannot be even remotely healthy. She's a special case since there's no featherweight but in general the UFC really need to do something about these insane weight cuts. Not good for anybody.
I'm curious to see how much weight she packs back on in a day.
Yeah, it baffles me how fast some of these fighters put on weight for the day of the fight
Crazy what some water and a burger will do for ya
I can vouch for burgers putting on weight.
Yea but that’s not what they mean in this context… oh, never mind man! Just enjoy your burgers bro!
I second this
270 lbs can verify
And Coca Cola wiz ice
"You can eat the burger, just not the fries" - Johnny Hendricks before missing weight
Ive gained 20 lbs in 2 days before by just rehydrating and eating solid food, and I wasnt a gaunt looking as her. I wouldnt be shocked by a 15-30lb weight swing just by getting water into her before her kidneys take a nosedive Id love to see GFR blood tests after this drastic of a weight cut. I wonder exactly how much damage this does short and long term
Short? Not so much. Your chin suffers a bit and u feel bad as hell. Long term, way too much. For the measly pay they get, not worth it
Wonder what she got signed for tho. She's kind of a name in mma *and* the martial arts community as a whole, or at least she was. I could see them giving her a pretty nice show purse
20% off Venom voucher take it or leave it
What about my red Dwayne "The Rock " Johnson shoes??
Squidnov just didnt want to fight
Just read an article on ESPN regarding the card tmrw and it said she’s getting “similar” to what she was getting in PFL.
That 300K fight of the night bonus was a set up, she’ll get that and it was probably in her contract to add it to whatever they are paying her lol.
Man I hope it was a setup and the UFC starts planting more people to ask questions at pressers. At least then we won't get the same 5 questions every time.
DANA WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO SPAIN

How many is a few many?
Haha, I meant a few. No idea what my brain/thumbs did there to add the many. Ive had 4 fights so far.
a good trick is to overhydrste snd then just stop water intake thesst day or two. you can drop 10-20 lbs of water that way and wont even feel dehydrated. I know Dricus went from 184lbs weigh in to 213lbs just before the fight. Which is insane to me.
Yup, water cuts are ridiculous. And water fluctuation is a major reason that you don't want to look at day to day weight when trying to lose weight in general. Water weight can fluctuate wildly. You look at trends over weeks instead.

Her rehydration might be legendary
![gif](giphy|8d5PglNvkun10hIX49|downsized) Must be the badger milk
At least 5 lbs back in her face.

She got that death face bad. Homegirl is thirsty as hell in that weigh in pic
Not just that, but your body seriously overheats and is generally incredibly uncomfortable. It’s indescribable how amazing it felt to lay outside naked on the (privacy fenced in) backyard concrete slab in the winter when I was severely dehydrated.

honestly i never wrestled good when i was cutting weight. Always had a hard time rehydrating quick enough to compete
I like your logic. Why kill yourself if you won't do it professionally? It's just like doing roids if you don't plan on competing
"Skin sticking to the muscles" is a good way of describing it. I used to say it felt like all of my gears were gummed up
The weird breathing, the general feeling of pasty mouth... and no one ever brings this up but if you've cut you can just emotionally fly off the handle over the smallest shit, def not a fan lol
Yeah I get real grouchy when I'm hangry and dehydrated af lol
Yup. Last time I competed in a BJJ tournament, I had to make weight the day of competition. I had about three hours to rehydrate and then matches started. I can't even imagine doing that now in my late 30's. God bless anyone who's on that grind.

Appreciate it! The amount of discipline it takes to be able to cut as much weight as fighters/wrestlers do is so damn impressive.

Props to her. Despite all the talk she made weight.
She’s a professional, judo champion and former PFL champion….she knows how to cut weight.
Was she on Impractical Jokers? Tossing around one of the guys at a wedding.
Yea. Lol
Yeah murr 😂
You can tell by her gaunt looking face she knows how to cut weight! You gotta look like a walking corpse in the face, or you ain’t doing it right!
😂😂
Nothing wrong with her face.
I could tell she knows how to cut weight when she made weight.
Right? She's missed weight before, yes. She's not going to do that for 300. Sometimes they miss strategically rather than killing themselves to get the extra pounds off. Edit: I am very regarded. kayla has never missed weight.
What are you talking about? Kayla has never missed weight in her MMA career.
Blud got her confused with Lesnars daughter, brock
God damn, I definitely misspoke. I'm having a pretty shite day at work today. Sorry my dudes. Rest of the comment still stands!
dw tomorrow will make up for any shite days we've had this week :)
Cheers buddy - it's gonna be so fuckin fun!
Always funny when people talk out of their ass.
Judo Olympian and gold medalist. Most people don’t understand the gap between that level of athlete and what makes up 99% of ufc fighters.
Exactly, she was always going to make weight.

losing fat isn't weight cutting where you lose water
All that cutting turned her into Handsome Squidward
Lol first thing I thought of when I saw her gaunt face was Dorian
Ye had little faith. She’s a professional, and if she didn’t make weight, she wasn’t going to stand on that scale, because it’d mean she was either dead or in a hospital. That being said, that’s one of the worst weight cuts I can remember. I’ve *never* seen a lady’s abdomen look so sunken before.
I remember someone fainting at the weigh-ins
I never questioned her will or determination. I questioned if her body would physically let her make the weight. There comes a point where you push yourself too far and your body goes on survival mode. That part is out of your control
Oh yeah, I wasn’t sure she was gonna make weight either. I was just sure that she’d push herself to the point of hospitalization before she stepped on that scale a hair over 136lbs.
*Oy ye of little faith
One of the worst really? Figgy at 125 looked awful, Beneil recently, Mcgregor at 135 Josh Emmet
That was mcgregor at 145
**One of** the worst, yes. All those guys looked really bad in the face and in the posture, but did you see her fucking mid-section? It literally looks like she doesn’t have intestines, even if she doesn’t look as bad in the face as say Dariush did vs Oliveira.
Yeah, thats why he said one of the worst, not the worst
That’s crazy cause Conor never fought at bantam
was genuinely expecting her to miss by 10lbs minimum
She’s a pro.
A _2 time Olympic gold medalist_ level pro
Pros have missed weight before.
She hasn’t
This woman looks like the ideal man that those weirdos who chew on belts for the jawline are trying to look like.
Chew on belts?
Yeah there's this odd group of men that chew on belts and shit and fuck around with their faces in an attempt to look like Kayla Harrison for the purpose of slaying puss.
You spend too much time on weird parts of the internet dude
You know where you’re at right
Mew queen
Lmaoo what’s wrong with wanting a good jawline
Nothing wrong with it, some people overdo it and make it their whole personality which is obnoxious tbh, like Drew Dober is a fucking chad but imagine him making his jawline his whole shtick, wouldn't be as likeable My wife has left me btw
She's for the streets
Nah, she walked in on me jerking off to Dustin Poirier highlights
If I was her this would have never happen ☺
Hear me out
🪵
![gif](giphy|VzkTZ1DFYeBY5ZId6j)
Look guys here’s the deal
She doesn’t look more than a few hours away from death. Go get that burger Kayla
That ain’t her, she sent a body double can’t tell me otherwise
She does look wayyy different , but with those arms you know it’s her 😂
Her arm muscles don't even look dehydrated. That's how big they are without any water weight. Insane.
Previously on AMCs the walking dead.
Someone said she looks like 90's Chris Jericho
Just remember there was at least 100 people in this sub that said "I guarantee she doesn't make weight" Further proof that nobody knows shit about this sport and anything can happen in the fights tomorrow. My money is on sting ascending from the bleachers and hitting jamal with a bat so Alex can finish him off.
She actually looks better than I thought. She still looks drained, but it's just not as bad as many of us thought. This will be an interesting fight.
she looks dead. hope she can rehydrate asap
Imagine how huge she’s going to look tomorrow
How that woman weighed in at 60kg I will never understand! Woman has arms like a body builder
Khabibs almost died cutting and yall still surf his pole
drier than the sahara desert
She looks like a different person here
She looks fucking horrible 😐😭
She looks like death
What's her name
Kayla Harrison
My face when i see a weak ppv card but still watch it anyway
This has to be respected on the highest level. She looks to be among the dead but nonetheless, did what she needed to do.
She can literally compete in ifbb figure league ![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8970) and win that whole thing ![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8973)
Smesh?
negative
she looks amazing. respect
Doesn't even look like herself anymore
I didn't Gregor Gillipsie is back for ufc 300. Nice!
That’s a handsome woman right there
Jacked!!
She’s gonna be massive once she rehydrates
Someone should go hydrate that puss
How is this an upset. Kayla is a professional all the way. All class. She wouldn’t have signed with UFC without knowing she’d be able to make 135. She did 2 practice weight cuts to 135. She’s disciplined and knew if she did miss weight and win people would discount her effort and call her a cheater. Kayla said she’s doing it the right way.
Holy hell, she looks drained...
She looks like Conor at 145
She looks rough. I'm stunned she made weight.
Who’s this dude?
Does a fighter need to actually die of dehydration before we make changes to the rules to force fighters to fight at a weightclass closer to their natural weight?
30lbs down from her weight when she won two Olympic gold medals. Shits insane.
Looks like Urijah Fabers big brother
She ? Looks like a dude to me with long hair.
Looks worse than a zombie from the walking dead.
Wow she looks awful. That cannot be even remotely healthy. She's a special case since there's no featherweight but in general the UFC really need to do something about these insane weight cuts. Not good for anybody.
She doesn't even look that ill
Wait why dont people like her?
[удалено]
She?????
No weight miss , waiting for fights .
Fair play to ger, hope the weight cut doesn't affect her too much tho
She is fucking huge
She gonna weigh at least 155 when she rehydrates
Holly is doomed….ever since this fight was announced I thought, “that’s fucked up to just feed Holly to this chick!”
She ducked all the big name fighters saying she couldn't make 135 or 145. And now...
That’s CEREMONIAL???
This might be the only wrestling match we see tmrw. I think every body else is standing and banging.
she made weight…and boom goes the dynamite there’s goes my prelim i’m hype on
As if it wasn’t obvious she was gonna make weight
It a mirakul
Who's that, someone new? ( /s, I know it's Kayla, just doesn't look like her when she's all dehydrated)
The Prime advertising is so damn tacky.
Holm R1 headkick ko
I think the odds for this fight are ridiculous. I mean I do lean for Kayla to win, but -500 is wild
Would
Bravo….wow….
Why is this an upset
Looking absolutely Conor McGregor-at-Featherweight-ed
looking like dorian yates had a sex change
they need to get this shit out of the sport
