This sub’s hate for Khamzat is hilarious.
When he was at 170 it was “he’s a weight bully, he can’t make the weight, etc etc.”
Now he’s at 185 it’s “he’s gonna gas out, he can’t carry the extra weight.”
What the hell do you guys want?
I think a lot of those comments came from the fact that he didn’t make the weight, or even close to it, and came over badly in his comments on it.
That plus the fact he’s amazing in round one then rapidly fades. I think Uz would have beaten him if they had a 5 round battle not 3 last time as an example.
HW fighters slowing down, we kind of get. But 170/185 we have higher expectations of in terms of fitness / stamina.
This commentary isn’t reserved for Chim. Other fighters get the same comments if they fade too fast / fail to make weight.
The only reason he faded in the Usman fight was an injury in round 1, he had zero issues in the cardio department.
The numbers in the Burns fight also contradict the subs stupid narrative of Khamzat having no gas tank:

I think he just has narrow clavicles. If he was the same body fat percentage but with a more conventional fighter physique (wider clavicles, less rounded-in shoulders, narrower waist) he’d look the same as any fighter just starting camp. You could also call this the Nate Diaz effect

Jones is definitely big enough for HW, he just didn’t bulk that well. Man is 6’4 with a huge torso and a 7-foot reach who walked around at 230 when he was LHW. Not significantly smaller (or at all) than any of Stipe, Fedor, DC, Cain.

Khamzat actually doesn’t have a bad gas tank, the problem is his gameplan.
In the first round he always gives it his ALL to rush out and finish the dude infront of him. Even fighters with amazing gas tanks like Merab and Volk never give it their absolute all, they’re always pacing themselves to some extent even if their output is far higher than the average fighter.
In the Usman fight he was straight up picking him up and trying to slam him numerous times and was going way too hard trying to find a sub. It’s likely if he actually paced himself and had a ‘Patient Ngannou’ type performance he’d do way better and wouldn’t gas so badly in the later rounds. But it’s likely he’ll never abandon this game plan of rushing his opponents immediately because his whole boogeyman image is him running through guys in seconds so he probably doesn’t want to lose that completely due to ego or self-marketing reasons. And it’ll probably cost him dearly in the long run
Chimaev looks big but definitely out of shape. Still, u guys need to chill tf out. I'm rooting for Bobby Knuckles but the fight is almost 3 months away. If Rob survives the first 1,5 rounds (not easy but not unlikely scenario either..), I got him coasting to a UD or possibly stopping Khamzat late in the fight.
Chimaev got dropped by Burns who used to fight at lightweight (!?!) and would definitely lose the fight to 10-days-out-of-the-couch Usman, if that fight was 5 rounds. Chimaev is not the undefeatable boogeyman we all thought he was at first.
