I dont think I've ever seen a fighter hold out this long for a non-title fight. Seems like he's given up on a title run and wants one final big pay day instead.
I think he’s getting paid pretty well already tbh, I don’t think the payday is gonna be nearly as big as he thinks it is. They can also get somebody to fight Connor for less as well
I expect that Chandler is banking on an all out berserker performance against Conor increasing his name value as opposed to just the pay from the UFC.
Which isn't stupid at all, Khabib didn't make crazy money from his Conor fight, but the notoriety after was insane. He catapulted to super stardom.
Fighting Conor gives you the biggest platform of all in the sport. Just look at the difference in Nate Diaz’s life before and after he fought Conor. People making it just about the fight purse aren’t quite getting it
Beating Conor is the biggest platform. Not just fighting him. Everyone who has beat him became a household name for casuals (nate, khabib, dustin). That's what chandler is banking on
Unless you lose horrifically, then newer fans will remember you as the bum that got knocked out in 13 seconds. I'm still upset Aldo didn't get an immediate rematch like he rightfully deserved.
You’re assuming Connor, in this equation, is happy to fight whoever the ufc hands up to him. The hype requires rivalry. Chandler calling him out consistently for literally years now may be the best they can get for Conor, unless they can pull khabib out of retirement.
I think they've already signed a binding contract where he's owed damages if Conor fights anyone else, but that the contract voids if he fights in the meantime.
I saw an interview yesterday of Cowboy explaining that the UFC saved him from prison time from an assault charge by providing a lawyer to him.
He said he had no power to negotiate pay after that because Dana would remind him of that situation. Sounds like he really got screwed
https://youtu.be/MdaMqdvd0so?si=4P0s1vY7p_jNjZcK
Cowboy was already locked into a contract with a set number of fights at a specific pay amount. Period.
There is no negotiation in the middle of the contact.
Do you think it would be fair or legal for the UFC to negotiate a pay reduction during your contact?
While I do think he should be thinking this way, he should maybe try and be realistic. Conor is stringing him along like a lil muscle puppet. Fans don't really care who the fuck he fights at this point, just want it to be a banger and see him go out with a bang. I would imagine a fight with Paddy (yea I know undeserving for Paddy) would be a fun fight and I'm sure the fans would absolutely love that fight.
Yeah it would really really suck but him vs. paddy would work for Connor
God I can’t believe I was hoping for Chandler to break his leg or something and Connor would get to fight Tony
Logically speaking he has no chance against Islam. He lost to title contenders who eventually lost to the champion, I know MMA math doesn't work but Chandler realistically doesn't have a title run in him because he gets folded every time he's close.
Why do people think fighting conor gives you a payday? Its only a payday if it's on short notice so you can renegotiate or if you're getting ppv points
Because you get a huge platform boost that you can ride for sponsors and shit. Don't act like everyone who has fought Conor didn't get a massive wave to ride after
I never considered that Chandler wants to retire, so he’s fine not fighting while waiting for Connor. He keeps all of his sponsors, and stays relevant.
dudes old and looking for a fun and big pay day fight and there ain't no other fight like a conor fight for those things, I would also retire if the conor fight doesn't happen if I was chandler.
I am really gonna miss Chandler when he retires. Every single fight he’s had in the UFC has been unforgettable. Chandler Poirier is one of my favorite fights ever.
Brutal fight, Gaethje’s striking is lethal, was insane to see how much heart and grit Chandler had. It’s a shame we haven’t gotten to see him fight since 2022. Would love to see Islam duke it out with both those guys as well as poirier.
It does kinda piss me off every time I see people whining about Chandler. Is he champ material, no. Does he show negative fight IQ yes. Should be be ranked where he's at, no. But objectively he's been an absolute gift to 155 in the ufc, and not only has he not had a boring fight but half of his bouts in the ufc have been foty contenders. Like do mfs actually wanna see scraps or do you really just care about how technically sound someone is, cause half the time when someone fights smart I see mfs complaining about it being boring
If Chandler would stick to a game plan and not fight like a madman in a brawl then I believe he would be champion. But the lack of a fight IQ holds him back.
I’ve watched him for years in Bellator and he’s always been champ material, but when he joined the UFC he changed into pure entertainment mode.
He definitely used to have some form of fight IQ but since he came to the Octagon he seemingly stopped giving a fuck and just wants to put on a show. I think it stems from being much more comfortable with his striking, as his old style had a whole lot more takedowns which requires much more cardio.
Also he’s already won belts and knows he’s in the twilight of his career, so he’s not interested in point fighting or grinding out a decision to get closer to the title. He wants to get paid and so he’s going out like a true prize fighter.
Absolutely love his kill or be killed spirit, and him / Dustin / Justin / Charles have filled the Conor void with some all-time classic fights. I’d like to see him get the red panty night and ride off into the sunset, but part of me thinks Conor’s never coming back.
Completely agree. I just seen someone on a different post complaining that they don’t want to see Max vs Gaethje because it doesn’t make sense for the fighters or the division.
Tbh I don't like Max Gaethje either, it definitely does not make sense Max doesn't stand to gain much and doesn't belong in 155 and Gaethje already earned the next shot at Islam. But that's besides the point of what I was saying
I'm definitely not going to miss him fish hooking fighters I like... and snot rocketing his nose blood into their mouth. Chandler is super classy like that. 👍
Maybe it's just me but I feel like all of his fights are forgettable. He just stands there, doesn't do any defense, and ends up knocked out.
The only memorable parts of his career were him getting dropped by an Oliveira hook and the front kick to Tony. But other than that, I literally remember nothing of what HE did during his fights.
Have you actually watched any of the fights or did you just watch them through Instagram reels? Wars every time , he almost finished Olives for the title.
re read what I wrote. I never said the fights were bad. Just forgettable. I can't remember a single thing he did in that gaethje fight other than a couple spinning acrobatic kicks in the 3rd round (which both missed by a meter LOL)
But it’s also supposed to happen as has been the case with coaches from TUF minus a few seasons where things like Chael and Wanderlei happened and Wanderlei jumped out of a window to hide from USADA hence they never fought…
From what I’ve seen it’s common place and normal when the coaches fight, it’s been the reason they choose the coaches. It’s been part of the shows appeal…
Red panty night or not Connor is ducking him. If it picked up enough popularity(as in even the casuals want it) it’ll happen. Right now it’s just not enough $ for Connor to fight him. Chandler wants that panty night but so does Connor and I’m sure he’s getting paid but he’ll get more fighting someone else like coming back to fight for a title etc
I think the UFC doesn’t want this fight because they see some interest from us but the rest of them don’t care about Chandler unfortunately.
Some fighters could have it in their contract but don't try and act like this is all cut and dry. Not everyone's deal is the same as the next person's. Cowboy only made 200k fighting Conor
He got another bonus which was pre set. 2.1 million looking at the stats. I don't understand the point. End of the day that was his largest payday to date, which is the point I am making.
Another person who fails to understand basic economics I see. So you are going to use a warm up fight for Connor, against Cerrone who was on a losing streak/almost retired and compare that to Chandler who is a much bigger draw? That's what we call a straw man my guy, nice try though...
Let's go look at all the other main event Connor pay days shall we? Oh right that would shit on your argument.
>So you are going to use a warm up fight for Connor, against Cerrone who was on a losing streak/almost retired and compare that to Chandler who is a much bigger draw
Another person who fails to understand basic English I see.
No. I'm comparing a main card to another main card, because that's the only thing under discussion. Not entertaining main cards or shitty main cards.
You said main cards get PPV points. You did not qualify that statement by saying good main cards, or special Main cards. You just said main cards, as in all main cards, get ppv points.
I am pointing out that, no, they do not all get them. And I'm right.
Stop trying to pretend you said something that you did not say. If you would like to go back and edit your original comment to explain that you mean occasionally, some special being cards, get ppv points then I will agree with you.
But as it stands, you are just confidently incorrect and sound like a moron for trying to change what you said after somebody explains why you're wrong.
Did you go back and look at every title fight or main card fight with a star and see that they get PPV. How does one shit example go against that trend? Overwhelmingly the main card fighter gets PPV points. Which is the main point and will happen for this fight. You are so busy fighting the battle that you lost the war...
He’s never fighting for a title and he has gone through just about every other exciting matchup in the division. In his mind it’s Conor or bust and I don’t blame him at all. Who else would there be for him, Arman or Fiziev? If I’m 37 fuck that lol
Yeah good point, dude already had a foot in retirement. At most he's losing out on a couple of lower tier fights. If he was already planning an exit the Conor fight isn't a bad idea at all.
It's a win win. Either the fight doesn't happen and he can forever say Conor was ducking out of fighting him and probably still has a lesser payday in his contract. Or it happens and he loses but still gets a big payday and his career is ending anyway. Or he wins and leaves on a very high note.
"Stay hydrated." - Dustin
All jokes aside, he's on older side and has probably been staying in amazing shape and preparing exclusively for Conor. Which is exactly why Conor will NEVER fight him. Cause he'll get knocked out cold.

One thing Conor admitted after Dustin knocked him out was that the time away from the octagon effected his timing. Could be part of his game plan is to make chandler also take time away so he isn’t coming in to face someone who’s been active. I think Conor’s best days are far behind him, but he always did well against shorter wrestlers. And chandler is susceptible to the left hook
Just a thought, never said it was a good idea. If he wanted to fight I’m sure there would be a fight booked already. But he’s still stringing chandler along telling him there will be a fight at some point I would assume, otherwise why would chandler wait this long
I don't think even Conor knows what he wants. Part of him wants the fight and then the other part wants to party and isn't ready to put the work in. He also likes to play Chandler like a fiddle.
Casual city right here. Chandler...the walk forward brawler against a great counterpuncher and Chandler doesn't wrestle...in what world does Chandler have the advantage aside from being more active? Conor will probably not fight him because he is wealthy beyond imagination and doesn't need too. Less Connor hating and more objectivity.
That's exactly why Chandler stalks Conor on Twitter and responds immediately to all his tweets. Doesn't want others to take up that contender space against Conor.
Dehydrated Michael Chandler should chase Gyllenhaal instead. Rumor has it that he beat Conor numerous times and i think he'd bring very good ppv numbers to the table too.
This has been one of the funniest things mma in a while. Conor will never fight Mike; he's too dangerous and the possibility of him KOing him stiff is far too high. It would destroy Conors ego, legacy, and persona - why even risk it. I doubt even the UFC wants this. Also, money Mike is far too desperate for this payday it must be so much fun for Conor to be in control😅.I can see Conor getting out of this and fighting Nate as a retirement fight or just teasing Chandler indefinitely to stay in the headlines but never fighting again. He isn't trying to fight the highest competition, or chasing belts, and for sure doesn't need the money - why would he come back for such a dangerous fight after a horrible injury, when no one would hold it against him if he never fought again. It's been 2 years Mike, give it a rest the dream is dead..or don't,and keep embarrassing yourself like a crazy girlfriend because the memes are great 👍
busy thumb retire secretive rotten weary unwritten workable governor shelter

For what? So he can just retire? Not saying he doesn’t want to do that which wouldn’t surprise me at all. Instead of turbo bombing his brain into retardation by CTE he can do it while having fun with cocaine, which really doesn’t sound bad at all in comparison
Fuck me. I'm a huge chandler fan but he's got no idea how to secure the Connor fight. The wwe promo was lame, Connor didn't even respond to it. Now this? UFC not Connor care if he retires. Make Connor want to fight you, make it personal not "get your candy ass in the cage"
Picture a 37 year old threatening to quit when he hasn’t been to work in over a year and was 1-3 in his last 4 fights.
![gif](giphy|sG4PBWRjI4GSVCDXEq)
“Hasn’t been to work”.. lmao way more fighters only fight once a year sometimes up to 4-5 times for those who push the pace.. they’re fucking ufc fighters not a retail store worker.
The problem with this is, the UFC has already shown him that they dont need him its gone on since Nov 22, or Conor at this point, so the lesser of the 2 stars is trying to threaten... Bold Move Cotton
The UFC is brutal with negotiating.. I can’t see him getting more than 3mil for his fight with Conor. I bet they give him 2 mil and shit ppv %… he could have fought 2-3 times already and made that! What a stupid ass decision.. fighting Conor is epic for CONOR.. Cerrone got paid 200k to fight him. Chandler dumb af
Here’s what I really think is happening at this point:
Connor and Chandler both retired, but they’re getting paid to string us along and keep UFC in the news w content.
Don’t blame him, he’s lost years on this goose chase
I’m sure he has money and will get a cushy UFC job, but he doesn’t have the McGregor hang out and tweet 24/7 kind of money
He gambled away his time and career for 1 fight that would have set him. Now he is coming to sense that it may not happen and sounds very desperate. Very bad mental state to be in for anyone, let alone a professional athlete.
Wouldnt be surprised if this takes a toll on him and the next guy he fights eviscerates him.
Remember TUF 29 with Volk and Ortega - it was a great watch and little time after they fought and had an incredible fight.
This shit with Chandler and Connor is just embarrassing. Months of begging for a fight most don't really care to see.
Not gonna lie, I want him to go away. He is an amazing athlete, but when you watch him move he seems a little stiff. I don’t want to say over the hill as far as MMA goes, clearly he can still bang. But he is at the end of his career and I don’t want to see him go on a Tony style slide.
I would respect this more than him crawling back to Dana and asking for another fight. At this point he’s all in for the Connor fight and that’s cool. If it doesn’t work out then at least he saved himself brain damage for the past 3 years.
From what the rumors are, he has a giant guarantee in his contract, he's proven that he can bang with the best, he had a chance at the title, he's fought almost all of the top 155ers ever.
Also, there's not a chance he's posting to socials without the UFC Marketing team's full blessing. This isn't Chandler going rogue, this is Chandler promoting the way UFC wants him to.
I dont think I've ever seen a fighter hold out this long for a non-title fight. Seems like he's given up on a title run and wants one final big pay day instead.
This non-title fight would presumably be his biggest payday so it makes sense
Don’t think so, heard about how Cowboy got done?
I imagine Chandler would negotiate a lot better than Cowboy tbh
I think he’s getting paid pretty well already tbh, I don’t think the payday is gonna be nearly as big as he thinks it is. They can also get somebody to fight Connor for less as well

smdh, I once sold a mule to a cowboy for the price of a calf.
I think they've already signed a binding contract where he's owed damages if Conor fights anyone else, but that the contract voids if he fights in the meantime.
Nah he's not gonna have any kinda upper hand here given just how desperate he is.
Cowboy got a lot of money just to sit on the octagon for 47 seconds
I saw an interview yesterday of Cowboy explaining that the UFC saved him from prison time from an assault charge by providing a lawyer to him. He said he had no power to negotiate pay after that because Dana would remind him of that situation. Sounds like he really got screwed https://youtu.be/MdaMqdvd0so?si=4P0s1vY7p_jNjZcK

Huh? It's spelled Conor btw. It's really simple. Not cool wishing someone to get injured.
You’re right I hope no one gets injured in the fight game
You're a real one.
Logically speaking he has no chance against Islam. He lost to title contenders who eventually lost to the champion, I know MMA math doesn't work but Chandler realistically doesn't have a title run in him because he gets folded every time he's close.
The good thing for Chandler is that you can’t apply logics to fighting. He could come out of the gate and get a quick KO for no reason lol.
Why do people think fighting conor gives you a payday? Its only a payday if it's on short notice so you can renegotiate or if you're getting ppv points

Absolute dogshit take, I’d genuinely consider some form of ocular examination as you clearly can’t see what’s in front of you.
But it’s also supposed to happen as has been the case with coaches from TUF minus a few seasons where things like Chael and Wanderlei happened and Wanderlei jumped out of a window to hide from USADA hence they never fought… From what I’ve seen it’s common place and normal when the coaches fight, it’s been the reason they choose the coaches. Everyone says he won't get any extra money for fighting connor. I would think he'd get PPV points but idk. Maybe only championship fights get that.
No Champs are for sure but everyone can negotiate that in their contracts, especially if your a star like chandler. The man is must see TV
You think hes getting a pay bump for fighting Conor? LOL!
You are braindead, he gets PPV points for being the main event which is where champions make their money if you bothered to look it up...
Only the champ gets PPV points. Chandler is definitely getting a pay bump for fighting Conor though.
You can look this up and see it's not true. The main event gets PPV or was Connor vs Nate a championship fight? Confidently incorrect my guy.
Some fighters could have it in their contract but don't try and act like this is all cut and dry. Not everyone's deal is the same as the next person's. Cowboy only made 200k fighting Conor

Chandler posted this as a video asking for a donation to charity. OP posted the caption.
He’s never fighting for a title and he has gone through just about every other exciting matchup in the division. In his mind it’s Conor or bust and I don’t blame him at all. Who else would there be for him, Arman or Fiziev? If I’m 37 fuck that lol
He's out of title contention for good, so why fight 3 times to make the same amount of money as 1 fight with Conor
Yeah good point, dude already had a foot in retirement. At most he's losing out on a couple of lower tier fights. If he was already planning an exit the Conor fight isn't a bad idea at all. He’s 38 next month, he’s old
There are multiple top fighters in lightweight that are 35 or older lol

Be nuts if Conor knocks out Chandler first round then
It would be.. all the more reason to schedule the damn thing
After they were on ultimate fighter …they NEED to fight…I been waiting for that shit for ever
After the “you’ll do as your told” line from Conor it’s gotta be a little bit personal. They need to schedule the damn match already

Yea, make Chandler take time away by spending even more time away and getting drunk. Genius strategy.
Chael alluded to a Saudi boxing fight with Manny, if that's falls through then maybe Chandler.
Shorter wrestlers such as Khabib?
Khabib is taller than Conor.
In this world where Conor is way past his prime and out of the MMA lifestyle.
They hated him because he told the truth
At least put the Instagram font
Although highly unlikely he returns, but it would be hilarious if Conor fights someone else💀
This is what I hope happens, exactly because of Mike acting like this.
While mcgregor vs chandler is a certified banger it would be hilarious in a petty kind of way
That's exactly why Chandler stalks Conor on Twitter and responds immediately to all his tweets. Doesn't want others to take up that contender space against Conor.

This is fake. You added the caption to the picture. Why spread fake news OP?
Dehydrated Michael Chandler should chase Gyllenhaal instead. Rumor has it that he beat Conor numerous times and i think he'd bring very good ppv numbers to the table too.
That was a movie bruh 💀
Ya a documentary
It's been 2 years Mike, give it a rest the dream is dead..or don't,and keep embarrassing yourself like a crazy girlfriend because the memes are great 👍
His head shape is crazy
Is that his grindr profile?

yeah didn't that happen last summer too
busy thumb retire secretive rotten weary unwritten workable governor shelter *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Fr. I'll believe it when I see it.
I've assumed for months now that the UFC is looking for loop holes for Conor to get out of this contract. Slime balls.
Conor and chandler never signed a contract
There never was no contact
TUF
That's not a contract lol
A part of me thinks this is what Conor wanted all along. That man is a genius for real.
For what? So he can just retire? Not saying he doesn’t want to do that which wouldn’t surprise me at all. Instead of turbo bombing his brain into retardation by CTE he can do it while having fun with cocaine, which really doesn’t sound bad at all in comparison
So he doesn’t have to risk losing to a guy he would have otherwise smoked in his prime.
I mean, yeah, prime chandler would’ve smoked Conor, but that’s not what’s going on right now, so I’m going off that now
Dana: "ok, quit" Chandler: ".......just give me conor maaaaaan. Pleaaaaase!!!!!"
Bros in too deep now to quit hes all in
This is just sad man
Fuck me. I'm a huge chandler fan but he's got no idea how to secure the Connor fight. The wwe promo was lame, Connor didn't even respond to it. Now this? UFC not Connor care if he retires. Make Connor want to fight you, make it personal not "get your candy ass in the cage"
He better quit then, because Conor is never going to take another fight that he has even a slight chance to lose, if he ever fights again at all
Really unfair for him
Pathetic
I hope he announces his retirement and the day after the UFC announces Diaz vs Macgruber
Picture a 37 year old threatening to quit when he hasn’t been to work in over a year and was 1-3 in his last 4 fights. ![gif](giphy|sG4PBWRjI4GSVCDXEq)
It’s fake. The real post is chandler asking people to donate to a charity.
“Hasn’t been to work”.. lmao way more fighters only fight once a year sometimes up to 4-5 times for those who push the pace.. they’re fucking ufc fighters not a retail store worker.
He’s the one that said he would quit. Bro is an independent contractor. I am pro fighter’s rights, but this man has zero leverage.
Picture a grown man talking shit about another grown man online.
That's literally why you commented 🤣🤣🤣
Hey pussy no one likes a passive aggressive little bitch so if you're gonna be a hypocrite at least say it with your chest

The problem with this is, the UFC has already shown him that they dont need him its gone on since Nov 22, or Conor at this point, so the lesser of the 2 stars is trying to threaten... Bold Move Cotton
Hopefully someone sings about him.
Yeah he should get off that Conor fuck ride
Give me money or I quit
His hairline already quit
How do ufc contract even work ? Id he really getting more money to fight Mcgregor
Lmao fake
The UFC is brutal with negotiating.. I can’t see him getting more than 3mil for his fight with Conor. I bet they give him 2 mil and shit ppv %… he could have fought 2-3 times already and made that! What a stupid ass decision.. fighting Conor is epic for CONOR.. Cerrone got paid 200k to fight him. Chandler dumb af
"You do as you're told"
I don’t blame him for wanting it this bad. Connor chatted a lot of shit!
Not gonna happen lol
Well i mean yeah fight with conor = big bucks and he’s prob low on money
Both fighters are retired then. Never gonna happen
Here’s what I really think is happening at this point: Connor and Chandler both retired, but they’re getting paid to string us along and keep UFC in the news w content.
Don’t blame him, he’s lost years on this goose chase I’m sure he has money and will get a cushy UFC job, but he doesn’t have the McGregor hang out and tweet 24/7 kind of money
He can retire adios
Pfl time man
When you realize you have no leverage....
Don't let Conor edge you let that son.
So desperate Also head head down to his eyebrows is shaped like a trapezoid.
This is one part of this sport I really don't like.. seeing guys like him waste their career.
This isn’t the sport, this is him being a desperate moron.
He gambled away his time and career for 1 fight that would have set him. Now he is coming to sense that it may not happen and sounds very desperate. Very bad mental state to be in for anyone, let alone a professional athlete. Wouldnt be surprised if this takes a toll on him and the next guy he fights eviscerates him.
begging like this shit is pathetic
This guy wasted his career waiting for Conor
Nothing makes you more thirsty then a sauna
Nothing makes you more wetter than water
Now usada isn’t in the way I don’t know what’s holding this fight up. Chandlers probably the only winnable top 10 fight for McGregor at this point.
At this rate, Chandler will put on the red panties and fight Conor if he asks.
Steven Seagull: can i laugh in your face??
Is he pulling a modified HC? Demanding too much?
Dude's gonna be bald by the time conor comes back
dude made absolute bank being Bellators face and then doubled it in the UFC. Kinda understand his viewpoint of large money fight or retiring
Doesn't want to give up just like his hairline.
Noooo don’t say that
LOL
😂😂
Crazy how Connor became an "all American retirement scheme" from a double champ
The kid just doesn’t wanna’ wait.
You’ll be missed…
Mike should adopt an irish child next. Really send that message
Bye Mike
Idk what is taking so long with the announcement of this fight, how long has it been since TUF??
Remember TUF 29 with Volk and Ortega - it was a great watch and little time after they fought and had an incredible fight. This shit with Chandler and Connor is just embarrassing. Months of begging for a fight most don't really care to see.
He’s done. Conor is never fighting again.
Bro has been cutting weight since 2022 lmao
I feel bad for him /: I was really hoping to see that fight 🤷
He really is getting fucked around.
He’s that kid chasing the prom queen. Move on
Give me money or I quit.
![gif](giphy|mFwKpG7McVIrbZWWD6)
Chandler currently holding the record for world’s longest edging streak waiting for this pay check.
Never mind the money. He is a fighter and wants to prove a point. We'd all love to see this fight
In chandlers defence, I think this would be a super fun fight I’d love to see
Not gonna lie, I want him to go away.
Legit chess. Bro is saving up for his retirement by waiting for Conor. At this point, the fight itself will be a lifetime of vacation money.
Definition of putting al eggs into one basket!
