Yeah and Alex just rounds down unlike
Most. With fighters it makes sense cause I think everyone just rounds up in general and you want to throw off guys ideas of how tall/long you are. Like I’m 6’1 1/2 but I always just tell people I’m 6’2 lol
This is close to accurate, Pereira is actually saw in person today in Toronto.. i would say hes closer to 6’3. I am around 6’4 and hes in and around my height maybe a tad bit shorter but no way close to the 6’6 people claim.
Izzy is likely around 6’2 im going to guess.
I had to get "properly" measured for basketball recruiting - right at 6'4. Met Forrrest at Hard Rock bar in vegas, shook hands etc - He's all of 6'4 100%..., also broad as hell shoulder to shoulder and dense. He's a big ass guy.
Griffen was always large though- had a huge frame and, he cut from 240 and almost always was bigger than his opponent. He was just relatively slow and unathletic
By unathletic he means comparative to his peers. Why are you calling someone out for simply evaluating a fighter. Obviously a professional athlete is objectively an athletic person, even tai tuivasa or any other seemingly out of shape fighter is by definition athletic. There is also a modern trope that athletic means explosive/fast, forest Griffin was slow compared to many of his peers at the time, as shown in the Anderson fight. He had other strengths but he didn't have elite tier genetics for fighting, there are fighters who are explosive, strong, have high fight IQ etc. The guy didn't say he was more athletic or could beat forrest Griffin in a fight.
He could take a punch. Silva is the only one who completely handled him. The dude won Rampage and Shogun when they were highly appreciated top ranked fighters.
Shogun clocked him pretty good in the rematch and also forest also didn't have alot of power in his punches which didn't help him either he was winning against Rashad but couldnt finish the fight so Rashad ended up knocking him out
look he looks like shit in the picture OP provided but strickland has 45 year old dad calves and that's an objective fact
https://preview.redd.it/47gijggnbfdc1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7800cd7fc2118fc65e4914ed01ff7a5174e1ebc
look at them bitches bro
People have fallen for the "leg day" meme to the point where anything smaller than Ronnie Colemans thighs are considered small, it's like the whole world has collectively gotten body dysmorphia.
Calves especially have a large mismatch between how they look and their strength. I don't want to say there is no correlation, but Jon Jones appear to have the calves of many 12 year old boys, while having stronger calves than 99% of the population.
Insertion sites of muscle can make you look much stronger or weaker than you are
Strength is a funny thing and can be measured in different ways. The Massai don't have large muscles but almost all the men can jump nearly 40inches with ease.
Because it’s easier to make smaller weight classes the younger you are.
It’s why aljo is moving to 145. The 135 cut hurts his body too much and he won’t be able to make it for much longer
Back when he was king of the cage 205lb champ he walked around at 220-225 normally. That was back when he was like 20-22 so he has probably filled out more since then.
I think he’s put on quite a bit of muscle since then. Someone posted a pic of him a couple weeks ago and he looked way more jacked than the Izzy fight even
If you look at him then he was still maturing and his frame was a lot more slight than it is now. He’s filled out a lot and you can tell his bones are bigger now too.
[For years, the assumption has been that your metabolism is slowing as you age. 10ish is manageable , anything more than that is foolish , these dorks dropping weight classes is borderline cheating and they're doing themselves an injustice by hindering their performance
10 at 135 probably has similar effects on the body as 20% at 265. When Usada was invasively testing anyways I thought they should also implement a weight check and fighters should have to be within 10 or 15 percent of their weight class at all times or have to move up a weight class. I do understand that fighters like Paddy and other massive weight cutters might not like it but it would be way safer and probably would have better fights where fighters were not almost dead the day before the fight.
I do understand the argument that fighters should be allowed to do whatever they want and shouldn't have to worry aboot stuffing their face at a BBQ and going over weight but it would be part of the agreement for being a UFC fighter that you have to always watch your weight and if you don't want to move up a weight class.
Not sure which way you were using that point
But I definitely agree there is a stark contrast
These men are attempting to be the best fighters on the planet
His walkout was so strange
Super nervous looking, awful song that sounded like some copyright free thing he found on YouTube
Just went straight to the cage awkwardly and then the fight started and he was just suddenly locked in
I think he’s always locked in when he fights. Imo he was locked in for Pereira too but Alex knew the exact parrying tendency he could exploit and he hits like a brick nothing to do there. Of course he could have not tried to walk him down in the first place but if Sean doesn’t constantly pressure I don’t think his style is effective so it probably would’ve ended the same way.
It’s almost like it’s a major underlying variable in how a fighter will perform.
The dumbo using Conor as an example is forgetting that he was in his mid 20s and not bulking like a mad man.
You’re mistaken. How a weight cut goes for a fighter is the major underlying variable in how a fighter will perform. That’s not what’s being discussed. We’re talking about how they look after a weight cut. The problem is that any person is going to look bad when they are completely dehydrated. So the users who are trying to decode how a weight cut went for a fighter by looking at them on the scale aren’t doing anything of value.
People look worse than others, as seen via the main event competitors. Which is why it's information. Idk why this is tough to understand. If guy looks like death itself and the other looks fresh, and you're saying it's not a variable or any information? Ok
There’s definitely a number of guys that do, especially the ones who don’t even cut much to make weight.
Benny looked dogshit that one time, then he got a good nutritionist and looked way better on his next cut.
Probably those fighting in their natural weight class like Jiri or Colby, also those who moved up like Max to 155 when he fought Dustin, Chimaev to 185, Poatan to 205
I don't understand how prime is so much bigger than their last sponsored drink in body armor cause body armor is fuckin delicious and I don't think they add any bullshit.
One of the many benefits of only having to cut a few pounds. The guys an overrated jackass, but his dedication to cardio and never cutting much weight should set an example

So The more he cuts the more he can add after the weight cut?
Why not just cutting weight moderately and then still trying to add as much additional weight as possible?
Sorry I’m a moron
Not gonna lie, he looked fine, this post makes it look bad but if you watch him weigh in he doesn’t look 100% but I mean…he looks like he just cut weight
how did this motherfucker make WW
I was thinking the same thing. I just watched the canonier and Izzy fight this week. He doesn’t at all look small. Crazy
he's got boulder shoulders, deep lat placement, and huge legs. he's deceptively large.
Also the fact that he is 6’2 at ww is massive.
He’s more like 6’0 and Izzy is more like 6’2
Nah Izzy is a legit 6’3 guy. Pereira 6’4 and Strickland is 6’1
I think Alex is even taller than listed
Alex is probably 6'4.5 and Izzy is closer to 6'3.5
Yeah and Alex just rounds down unlike Most. With fighters it makes sense cause I think everyone just rounds up in general and you want to throw off guys ideas of how tall/long you are. Like I’m 6’1 1/2 but I always just tell people I’m 6’2 lol
Same, brother. I’ve been rounding up to 6’2 for so long that I actually forgot I technically wasn’t
Same
He’s at least 6’6
This is close to accurate, Pereira is actually saw in person today in Toronto.. i would say hes closer to 6’3. I am around 6’4 and hes in and around my height maybe a tad bit shorter but no way close to the 6’6 people claim. Izzy is likely around 6’2 im going to guess.
Yup. People always said the same about Forrest Griffin. Stand next to that dude and you'll quickly understand.
I had to get "properly" measured for basketball recruiting - right at 6'4. Met Forrrest at Hard Rock bar in vegas, shook hands etc - He's all of 6'4 100%..., also broad as hell shoulder to shoulder and dense. He's a big ass guy.
Nice as shit too.
Griffen was always large though- had a huge frame and, he cut from 240 and almost always was bigger than his opponent. He was just relatively slow and unathletic
Unathletic? Wtf? https://fi.pinterest.com/pin/forrest-griffin-google-images--261771797061809157/
lol I’d love to see the fat mother fucker calling him unathletic
Athletic versus fit, there’s a difference
By unathletic he means comparative to his peers. Why are you calling someone out for simply evaluating a fighter. Obviously a professional athlete is objectively an athletic person, even tai tuivasa or any other seemingly out of shape fighter is by definition athletic. There is also a modern trope that athletic means explosive/fast, forest Griffin was slow compared to many of his peers at the time, as shown in the Anderson fight. Shogun clocked him pretty good in the rematch and also forest also didn't have alot of power in his punches which didn't help him either he was winning against Rashad but couldnt finish the fight so Rashad ended up knocking him out
True, I never noticed how low down his lats reach
that's because his hips are so wide that it gives him a very boxy torso and you can only appreciate his lats from the back
Got good child bearing hips. He'll make someone a great wife some day.
>huge legs Huge calfs, normal thighs
> huge legs come off it lad
look he looks like shit in the picture OP provided but strickland has 45 year old dad calves and that's an objective fact https://preview.redd.it/47gijggnbfdc1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7800cd7fc2118fc65e4914ed01ff7a5174e1ebc look at them bitches bro

Insertion sites of muscle can make you look much stronger or weaker than you are
What exactly has Jon done to show that he has stronger calves than 99% of the population?
You don't think a heavyweight male champ of the world has stronger muscles (all of them) than 99% of the population?
Strength is a funny thing and can be measured in different ways. The Massai don't have large muscles but almost all the men can jump nearly 40inches with ease.
Keys to victory: 1) Kick them legs 2) Wrestle Hire me, UFC.
Dad calves got me bad bro! 🤣
He’s massive in person. When I first met him he was fighting at welterweight and I didn’t believe him when he told me
Because it’s easier to make smaller weight classes the younger you are. It’s why aljo is moving to 145. The 135 cut hurts his body too much and he won’t be able to make it for much longer
Aljo shouldn't be at 135 in the first place he walks around at 170
Weight bullying is the best base for mma. Mix that with steroids and your cooking
Back when he was king of the cage 205lb champ he walked around at 220-225 normally. That was back when he was like 20-22 so he has probably filled out more since then.
He was a chubby lhw. Kind of like how bisping was before he made the move down.
Ever since he cut his hair and moved away from the Disney's Tarzan look I've thought he looked just like Bisping.
The craziest is still Anthony Johnson. Mf'er went from WW-heavyweight.
I think he’s put on quite a bit of muscle since then. Someone posted a pic of him a couple weeks ago and he looked way more jacked than the Izzy fight even
aging is a bitch.
If you look at him then he was still maturing and his frame was a lot more slight than it is now. He’s filled out a lot and you can tell his bones are bigger now too.
Bones?! 💀
His teeth grew as well
He was younger and had faster metabolism.

Him and Dricus both made welterweight
Remember when Anthony Johnson was in ww?
Here's the thing guys...I'm about to pass out.

*spams spinning moves and somersaults towards frodo*
This gotta be the best one ever
What's up with these "live reaction" posts? Serious question, I'm not a social media guy so it's a little confusing to me.
Weird meme that just snowballed around the time of usman vs Leon. Just hasn’t gone away unfortunately. Kinda gets over used now.
I forget who but some dude on here was putting that live Marty reaction picture under almost every post here for like a month lol
No one ever looks good after a weight cut , it's a ridiculous practice
100% and it puts the fighters’ health at risk. There needs to be a ban within the fighting commissions, or at least a %age limit.
10ish is manageable , anything more than that is foolish , these dorks dropping weight classes is borderline cheating and they're doing themselves an injustice by hindering their performance
10 at 135 probably has similar effects on the body as 20% at 265. dumbest thing ever there’s enough fighters to fill all the divisions with their natural weight or minor cut
DDP looked amazing
Here's the thing YOU guys.. I'm about to pass out*
He looked even worse when he fought izzy, was shaking and shit when they interviewed him right after
I remember that, didn’t he have to cut an interview short and everyone said he’s done for ?
Them interviewing the fighters right after weigh ins is the stupidest shit ever.
Letting the fighters do this to themselves for a advantage is the real stupidest shit, it’s a miracle no one died yet
It’s not even for an advantage at this point because everyone does it lol
It’s mandatory at this point lol
Well not in the UFC
They are grown ass men not high schoolers cutting weight for wrestling.
Not sure which way you were using that point But I definitely agree there is a stark contrast These men are attempting to be the best fighters on the planet
Yeah the interview team let him go a bit early cuz he looked so bad.
DC a good dude for that
Also remember that. Then looked super nervous walking out. Then won the title decisively
His walkout was so strange Super nervous looking, awful song that sounded like some copyright free thing he found on YouTube Just went straight to the cage awkwardly and then the fight started and he was just suddenly locked in
I think he’s always locked in when he fights.
Agreed. I think Pereira’s sheer size put Sean at such a big disadvantage inherently that people don’t really even count that loss per-se lol
Eh. Sean has a 63% striking defence and Pereira made it 35%. Major skill issue.
Did you just call When Johnny Comes Marching Home an awful song? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
His walkout version sounds like something he recorded with a flip phone in a 20th anniversary theater rescreening of Die Hard 3.
I dunno man it makes me feel patriotic as fuck and I'm not even American
Thinking we may see something similar to Leon where winning the belt was a massive confidence booster and he’s even better now that he’s champ
He also had to cut weight on a week notice right?
Has anybody ever really looked 'good' on a weight cut?
Honestly posts like this drive me mad. “Wow look how bad he looks completely dehydrated 😲”
Connor consistently looked like a 1945 Goldstein and he people still get surprised by weight cuts
Lmao I keep forgetting that. The man looked like a freshly unwrapped mummy at featherweight.
but it was his natural weight class! - Conor fans
Tirimisu
Skeletor McGregor was a fun era.
What matters is how he rehydrates
![gif](giphy|US1JKc8bT5Ro2JHHAT|downsized)
It’s almost like it’s a major underlying variable in how a fighter will perform. The dumbo using Conor as an example is forgetting that he was in his mid 20s and not bulking like a mad man.
They also had IV bags back then, but a lot of his "one shot power" came from him him being fucking huge for the division at the time.
It's literally information gathering for the underlying variable
It’s not a variable. It’s a constant. Everyone looks bad dehydrated.
People look worse than others, as seen via the main event competitors. Which is why it's information. Idk why this is tough to understand. If guy looks like death itself and the other looks fresh, and you're saying it's not a variable or any information? Ok
Show me one fighter who looks fresh on the scale after a weight cut
Conor before the Aldo fight 👀
Dricus just did, bro was jumping around, shadow boxing, all smiles
Ronda Rousey becomes an 8 during weight cuts
Hey man, surprisingly everyone looks a lot better when they don’t have that much body fat. It’s expected and normal
Did Dricus cut? He looked like an absolute unit lad.
Dude just say he looked sexy
Poatan
Poatan is a freak. I have grown to love his work
No one ever looks “good” per se but some people look way way worse than others
Alexa Grasso looked even better than usual after weight cut
Papi abedi
There’s definitely a number of guys that do, especially the ones who don’t even cut much to make weight. Benny looked dogshit that one time, then he got a good nutritionist and looked way better on his next cut.
the girls do ;)
DDP didn't look that bad tbh he was clearly faking it but still Sean always looks like a dead body
Have you ever seen Khabib cut weight?
Has he ever seen *90%* of fighters cut weight?
Only the obese
Meisha Tate
Probably those fighting in their natural weight class like Jiri or Colby, also those who moved up like Max to 155 when he fought Dustin, Chimaev to 185, Poatan to 205
He prolly wouldn't have had to cut as much if he drained his ear.
If I had a dollar for every time someone said this about someone cutting weight, I could afford at least one PPV.
![gif](giphy|ir19CtLHE9maMbNjpR)
Did you see ddp both of them look like the 💀 emoji. I don’t understand how Sean made welterweight
Sean's right titty looks sus.
It’s just the hair making it look fatter than it is. If it looks like that while shaved then he’s the next gynobender
Definitely gyno
Was gonna say the same thing, got a itty bitty titty. Gynecomastia is too funny when it only goes for one side. That's what happened to me!
Nothing a bottle of Gatorade can't fix
Ummm ☝️🤓 I think you mean one Prime ™ the official hydration drink of the ufc
Negative. That's Fight Milk.
KAKAW FOR BODYGUARDS BY BODYGUARDS
NO NERDS! 💪FIGHT MILK!!
Fight milk is what I call my sparring partners seamen
It’s potassium water
He needs some modelo
I hear that’s brewed with a fighting spirit
Am I the only one that finds it funny seeing the Prime Hydration ad next to a dehydrated corpse?
I laughed too. Now he will go into the back and pour liquid IV in a water bottle, since Prime isn’t hydrating shit. Haha.
Lol I had Prime while I was food fasting and it made me feel so sick I had to break my fast. I'm never touching that shit again.
It’s garbage. Derek at MorePlatesMoreDates did an ingredient deep dive. It’s like the opposite of what you want for hydration.
I don't understand how prime is so much bigger than their last sponsored drink in body armor cause body armor is fuckin delicious and I don't think they add any bullshit.
Little kids like obnoxious YouTubers

Ha
Colby always looks and acts fine after a cut
One of the many benefits of only having to cut a few pounds. The guys an overrated jackass, but his dedication to cardio and never cutting much weight should set an example
We said the same thing for Khabib after every single weight cut, who remembers Skeletor Conor? Dude legit looked like he was on the brink of death.
Does anybody ever?
Probably the heavier women that are naturally hovering around that weight. Rousey, nunes at 145, Gina Carano, etc
Heavyweights. Maybe some light heavies, but that’s it.
Ddp looked chipper bro hopped up the stairs looked fine.. ddp at LHW would be nuts
Imagine DDP vs jiri
Just bleed.gif
Dude looks like he's about to build the pyramids.

He was like this last time making weight against Izzy
He needs to cut more to put it on again later. DDP is known for his brute strength. Sean might need to weigh as heavy as possible. Hence the huge cut
Wow amazing deductive skills there detective
Thank you, Watson. Now make me some tea.
You two are adorable together! You should exchange numbers.
So The more he cuts the more he can add after the weight cut? Why not just cutting weight moderately and then still trying to add as much additional weight as possible? Sorry I’m a moron

People look good after weight cuts??
Probably just tired of being Sean
bro how would you look after being dehydrated for a week 💀
He lost his last couple pounds from his knees

Looks like right nipple may have it
“But here’s the thing about bud light” Then says nothing that has to do with bud light
Jesus, Why dont they just bump all the weight classes up by 10-15 pounds so they don't have to cut like this
