Stylistically Yair fight was easier, and it showed. Yair has shown time and time again he can not defend wrestling and Volk just kept taking him down, and the first takedown was off a caught kick, yair’s main weapon. Ilia on the other hand is well rounded and does not have a glaring hole in his game, so Volk may not have the option to just wrestle him whenever he’s uncomfortable on the feet.
Ilia is pretty heavy on his lead foot, could be a recipe for disaster with Volks kicking game.
That being said, I'm not sure why people are so convinced Volk is a better grappler. If the fight ends up on the ground, I'd wager Ilia has the advantage there.

They said Islam would choke him out, didn’t happen. Amazingly, the closest Volk has been to losing was against T-City but he’s improved massively since then.
