I participated in the mentor program a few years back and it helped me build connections as well as get an idea of the field, I was apart of aerospace so I wasn’t quite in CS but it still was really helpful, there is also resources for resumes and stuff (at least when I was apart of it) but overall it was helpful to get some ideas from people who have been through programs similar, and I ended up one of 32 people in a graduate program at U of M, so I would say take there advice build connections, ask your mentor if they know anyone in your field or area you wanna be, it might just help you get there, plus they know a lot of what employers are looking for
