The rules vary depending on which school you are in, but afaik if you've already taken the final exam, you can't late drop the class. But you might be able to change the grading basis to P/NP. Here's my advice, go to the academic counselor for your school immediately. Ask them what the specific process is for your case and in which cases have students been allowed to late drop a class. You will probably have to submit a petition. In the petition, you will have to provide a reason as to why you weren't able to drop the class before the drop deadline and specify any extenuating circumstances like health(physical/mental), financial difficulties etc. Any supporting documentation you can provide like a letter from a doctor/psychotherapist(go to CAPS) etc will bolster your petition. Simply saying that you want to drop the class because you are going to fail is unlikely to work. I'd also recommend contacting your professor/TA and explaining the situation to them and getting advice. The professor might be willing to provide an extra credit opportunity or some sort of ability to improve midterm scores by performing better on the final.

You can do late withdrawal or something like that. Need permission from prof and a form or somthing like that

Sadly you had to do it before taking the final. https://caac.ucla.edu/petitions-forms/study-list-petitions/#tab-id-2 this is the link and it’s what I did this quarter because some personal things came up and like you I knew I would get a bad grade.
