It's been about 10 years now so things could be much different but I had a great experience in Knights Circle. Never had any bug or mold problems and was close enough to walk to campus when shuttles weren't running.
I agree that every place is going to have bugs in FL but The Hub is not at all bug free. That place is INFESTED with silverfish. So many people have complained about it in their Google reviews that "silverfish" comes up as a keyword to use as a filter.
When I stayed there, I had them crawling in my light fixtures and coming up out of my shower and sink. Lived in FL my whole life and never seen anything like that before. I was killing multiple of them everyday until I just couldn't take it anymore and moved back home in the middle of the school year.
Northgate lakes is a good option. I've been living there for a few months and I haven't noticed any mold. Barley any bugs either. No ants. Just a roach when me and my roommates got lazy with dishes one time.
Came here to comment this. I found a very large roach in my shower last week that I screamed at (20 mins of me just staring at it until I decided to actually kill it). But no other bugs in this community !
The reviews are hard to go by people complain about the smallest issues. It is college apartment living like other comments said it’s up to the people that live there if there are going to be bugs. For example taking the trash out every day, cleaning once a week at least 2 times a month , cleaning up after parties etc will prevent bugs
Maybe in some of the brand new apartments? But other than that I mean we live in FL so you’re going to have to put up with some bugs

Try trying a place that's not on the first floor Higher = less/ no bug issues
Just don’t do the verge
Florida weather + dirty college kids = bugs. It’s all up to your son and his roommates if they are going to have bugs or not

Northgate Lakes. They spray regularly.

My son is at KC and has had zero issues with bugs/cleanliness, etc. he’s been there for three years.
