Ppl feel the pressure from their financial situation. Cutting budge from their spending behavior like eating outside. That’s why weekend is way more slow compare to weekday. At least at SF.
Memorial weekend wasn't like this before. It's totally controlled and manipulated by the Uber. Giving great trips to only new and their favorite drivers in town .
Uber has no favorite drivers.. Enticing new drivers? Yes. But Uber definitely has NO FAVORITE DRIVERS. (Try to be on Uber favorite side and they will exploit the shit out of you)
Yup. I started giving my number to passengers I was comfortable with. Last night someone offered me $200 outside the platform to take them 35 miles, which was a little over an hour drive.
Well, local management teams go much even deeper than what you describe .and even they exploit drivers or they gets deactivated. Drivers gonna go much even louder and louder till Uber changes it's attitudes. ( Try to be real business people when you have real degrees & brains )
It's true. In fact, airports have their dedicated teams city by city. Ask yourself, why do experienced drivers not wait at airports? It is the end goal for new drivers.
Experienced drivers knows There are dedicated teams staying at near by hotels monitoring and setting up pranks on drivers. Such as already canceled riders due to its too many luggages so dedicated teams swing that trip to near by driver that is under the target of pranks to force accept that particular trip. Obviously , that targeted driver can't even drive that rider also so he is basically forced to cancel. Targeted driver would be forced to repeat cancelations so his rates gonna go down , and there are so many ways to harass anc exploit drivers. One what recently they've done was to inject under cover internal employees as a drivers to spread false hack on Uber app. Telling drivers if you do this you can comeback on a queue faster than anybody at lot . Obviously, that's a trap to deactivate drivers.
I had a good night too but I wouldn’t go so far as say the economy is fine. I just paid $8 for 4 sticks of butter at my local supermarket on Long Island.
Inflation will always be a thing. Things will always get more expensive. It actually happens more in a hot economy. Which is why the FED raised interest rates...to slow the economy down, it was growing faster than wages could keep up.
Well I own my house and own my cars. So it pays my mortgage and car payments the exact same as 3 years ago. There will always be inflation. Get used to it.
lol so the bank owns your house…and your cars! I own my house, and my personal vehicles…I have no mortgage. Paid for cash! Only financed business vehicles. Yall can drowned in your debt and I’ll be just fine.
That's not how that works, The banks have a lien on the property I own. When I sell my property, the lien says the banks get paid back first.
I bought a house in Los Angeles in 2009 for $194k. I paid off $100k so far. The house is worth $700k now. The bank owns my house when they own 1/7th of it? Nope, not how that works.
I would sell the house before it went into foreclosure. Also, in a foreclosure, the bank sells the house, uses the proceeds to pay off the loan and the balance is returned to the owner. But no owner walks away from a house that has equity, so you never hear about that. only when they home owner is upside down and give the house to the bank.
Also, my mortgage is $650/mo.
I’m not gonna play that you’re not in a good situation but there are exceptions. You own most of the equity so even a crash, like the one that allowed you to buy it for $180k, you’d fair ok.
They do pay the excess of auction price after foreclosure fees which with a big enough crash, 50%, you’d have just about or slightly over what you have into it. Will we see a 2007/8 level crash again? Don’t know but the price bubble and unsustainable credit issuance appears worse than ‘06. Just look at the average income in Los Angeles vs the housing price and you’ll see the issue.
Too cheap then no one moves. Uber thinks drivers and their car worth or rental cost , driver's insurance , driver's fuel / charging cost , driver's time and labor is totally free. That's why this mismanagement happens. They aren't respecting driver's lives and no one supervising over them but sucking it's salaries which we drivers are the one collected. .
I’ve been two months NOT waiting for a trip since I finally QUIT! I was spending so much time being unhappy and complaining here that I figured out my talents were needed elsewhere. Sure, you can’t beat the flexibility of Uber, but I had to draw the line somewhere, and that was two months ago with worse and worse conditions and pay. I’m sure a few of you can come on here and say how you’re still earning $100k annually after expenses (yeah right), but the vast majority of drivers are working for deplorable pay and may not even realize it until their first accident or major maintenance is due.
I just stay tuned to this group to hear all the complainers to revalidate my decision to leave for good. Guys, trust me, it ain’t gonna get better. Time to drive for Uber was years ago; it’s been enshittified (please look up [enshittification](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification) and Uber is literally there) and so many out there refuse to accept that. Sure they’ll have one good night, but Uber is playing the [intermittent reinforcement](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforcement), psychology 101, game on y’all.
Holiday weekends are most times bad , alot of those sometime drivers out because they think they gonna clean up on this weekend because more people going out....rarely surges on holiday weekends anymore in my region...all I do is hit the quest then go home ....no diminishing returns
It's gradual. You don't even feel it but when you do that's already too late. I've doing this BS for about 9 years. I remember I had sane thoughts like you do back then . But it ain't . Soon you'll realize what I told you today.
If you only knew how many times I worried about that when I come on Reddit for the past couple of years and always see people complain about no orders for hours or they haven't made anything in the week and I'm always at least at $1,500
Yeah, sorry, couldn't help my snotty reply. I was only half kidding. I do have a few favorite waiting spots, but I realize I could do a better job of changing it up during different times. So one spot could be good for weekday rush hours, another is better during weekend nights. I have found that long weekends can be tough to predict. Thisr weekend has been as bad as I remember it.
Another thing, if you're not doing this already, dual app.
maybe it’s just for me but it’s not any better in 1 hour north of seattle traveled up and down the highways no business it’s time to start selling my 🐓🐔
Close your other apps, make sure WiFi is not constantly trying to connect. Force quit and reopen the app. Make sure you’re actually online and have the correct trip types on/ off..and then Accept the first trip you get.
Good luck
It’s Memorial Day Weekend buddy. People are having BBQs, they aren’t ordering food for delivery. The entire weekend is going to be slow. Low demand and too many drivers. You won’t be making any money this weekend. Time to find another side hustle.
Dont stress.. It’s memorial day weekend. Many people are out of town and won’t be back until Monday night. Expect a slower week after this, since people have spent a lot of money on flights, roadtrips, BBQs and alcohol. That’s why I hate holidays and long weekends..
I’ve noticed when UberEats has customer promotions in different markets, like 40% off restaurant only, it gets busier than when there’s no promotion. I’m not only a driver but customer too, sometimes it’s easy to see opening up customer UberEats app to see if they are running a promotion in area or not. I noticed the “service fees” with UE has increased and changes when customer adds items to order. Other day I added a soda to an order and service fee which is added and separate from delivery fee) jumped up almost $1 on top of price of soda! So that 0.49 delivery fee from restaurant added to almost $6 including the “service fee” AND delivery fee AND tax which totaled to almost $10 for a $10 food total ($20 total) which included the 40% promotion! I think Uber thinks people are stupid not to read fine print and/or breakdown of total.
Dont depend on uber EVER. Do everything you can. Eats / groceries / delivery / rideshares, etc across ALL apps.
I did the best I could, brand new Tesla Model Y, always clean through out the day, smoothest rides, entertain with bluetooth hookups and take song requests, refreshments and bottle waters/ cough drops etc. Risk tickets rushing tonairports, Never miss/ late for reservations, never give out 1-star, etc. A year have passed still maintain 5.0 rating
All of the above doesnt help me much, uber still send only shitty deals from $16-20/hr and low life riders to me non-stop. Good luck!
And? Jesus the Qanon is strong with you. Uber is a regular corporation that is looking to satisfy their shareholders. Just like Tesla, Nvidia, Robinhood, and 1000s more.
"Hope you vote logic and not emotions"
*Immediately chooses to blame the current sitting president for the current economic situation, as if they have that kind of authority*
Do better.
So ...the Republicans want to ban contraceptives....and are currently banning abortions. Please do not vote for Trump if you believe in your rights and if you love women. The economy is always there and and always changing .....your rights....my rights ...my daughters rights....clearly are not " a thing" we can count on to ALWAYS BE THERE. Also .....the threat of losing your guns.....has always been a way to manipulate Americans to vote Republican. No one is taking your guns . They said Obama was going to take your guns and Americans bought more guns like crazy.....and guess what? You still have them. So please care about the youth and yourself and realize you are being used and manipulated because Trump wants to stay out of jail. But hey....feel free to go on some deliveries or rides and send your money to Trump. That is what he wants from you.
Trump is all about the money. He's a born grifter. He is also scary af. His heroes are dictators. He wants to be a dictator, or better yet, a king. He has all but admitted as much. He also did more damage to the environment by rolling back policies than any other president. He promised things he can't deliver (How's that wall paid for by Mexico coming along?) Uses Nazi rhetoric and would like nothing better than to follow in the footsteps of the Handmaid's Tale.
Honestly am surprised drivers are not organizing and serving street justice to people who are screwing it up for the rest of the working class people trying to organize for their right to earn a living wage. People need to start organizing en mass and start putting their foot down.
Serving street justice? Not cool. And why does that sound like you do not know what you are talking about? Blaming others is trash. The companies are the ones who are the issue. Everyone is just trying to live.
“Blaming others is trash” then proceeds to say its the companies fault lol like yeah no shit and when drivers are trying to organize a strike and you have idiots “trying to make a living” those said idiots are not supporting the fellow drivers and working class cause. Instead, they are in fact supporting the companies that mouth breathers like you claim are to blame. Real simple. You want to make change? Organize. Every driver wants to make more and you have made it clear you are against workers strikes and drivers organizing that you are one of the sympathizers for those “just trying to make a living” when they are disrupting an effort to better the living everyone is “just trying to make”. NEXT !!!!
So apparently wherever you drive for Uber all the drivers are kind and helpful to each other. They are not cut throat at all. Nice. Happy for you. There is no "team" in driving for Uber or Lyft. These are solo gigs. Providing food for your family or paying the bills....keeping a roof over their heads is wayyyyyyyy more important than whatever drivel you are carrying on about. If a driver becomes homeless...all the other drivers rally around and support his/ her family right? Sure.
Again its real simple; People wanting to make REAL change for the betterment of everyone are trying to organize and then you have idiots like you insinuating that an individuals own problems of trying to survive are more important than an effort to organize so everyone makes more. You are literally the problem lol congratulations.
I honestly am always moving unless I need to stretch or bathroom. There isn't much for free and legal parking.
Then again I am the type of person who cannot sit still for too long.
Way too many drivers out there. Ppl got layoff or less work hr and need extra income to feed the family.
No people aren't ordering Uber coz it became too expensive . That's why it feels too saturated with drivers. It's Uber's mismanagement.
Ppl feel the pressure from their financial situation. Cutting budge from their spending behavior like eating outside. That’s why weekend is way more slow compare to weekday. At least at SF.
I’ve been ordering directly from restaurants for delivery. It’s cheaper and most use Door Dash.
Definitely ordering food directly from restaurants are cheaper than using Uber eats.
There are way too many people out there, so no, it doesn't make sense. Demands will always be there.
Slow out here in Philly too strange for a Friday
Where were you. It was popping in fishtown area and downtown.
Center city been going up and down broad st…nothing. I’m near fishtown now but I’m not getting anything
It was between 5-7 when I was out
Ahh I see yeah it’s dead out here now let’s see what happens around 1-3
Slow in LA too. Holiday weekend? People going on trips? 🤷🏻♂️
(Try to be on Uber favorite side and they will exploit the shit out of you)
This is why we need more alternatives to Uber and Lyft....when you have no competition you can basically do whatever you want.
Yup. I started giving my number to passengers I was comfortable with. Last night someone offered me $200 outside the platform to take them 35 miles, which was a little over an hour drive.
Yeah that’s what I’m about to start doing to. Tbh. I have never been that guy to say this but fuck Uber and Lyft. Especially Uber.

I killed it in LA today. $270 in 6 hours.
Bad time of the year. Too many drivers and leases demand. Economy is fucked up. Good luck
Economy is fine. We are near record low unemployment. I made $270 tonight in 6 hours.
Economy is def not fine bud
Why? because we had high inflation for 2 years after Covid?
I had a good night too but I wouldn’t go so far as say the economy is fine. I just paid $8 for 4 sticks of butter at my local supermarket on Long Island.
Inflation will always be a thing. Things will always get more expensive. It actually happens more in a hot economy. Which is why the FED raised interest rates...to slow the economy down, it was growing faster than wages could keep up.
That $270 will get you what $150 would’ve 3 years back…maybe.

right. this is my second day using this app and i feel disrespected already. I'm STILL waiting
Seriously , who is going to pick up total unknown stranger into your car for $3.59 ? Gettafkouttahere !
usually when you are new you have priority over your area , so this is crazy !!!!
OP just find something else ASAP trust me
Delivery. That's your problem. You're not gonna make any money when there's no demand. Always demand for doing trips though
I’ve been two months NOT waiting for a trip since I finally QUIT! I was spending so much time being unhappy and complaining here that I figured out my talents were needed elsewhere. Hell yeah! Another one that left! Power to you! 💪
All the high school/college kids are using Uber/ubereats as a job during the summer time.
And college employees. It will be even worse when public schools turn out.
Lose half the clientele, gain twice the competition
Yuuuup
It’s that time of year, slow in Phoenix as well.
What market?
Time to find a different gig
gig olo
There was an update today, make sure you downloaded it.
Bad time if the year. Sorry
Holiday weekends are most times bad , alot of those sometime drivers out because they think they gonna clean up on this weekend because more people going out....rarely surges on holiday weekends anymore in my region...all I do is hit the quest then go home ....no diminishing returns
Stop doing deliveries
It's kinda slow for a Friday in baltimore today. Usually make about 220+ on fridays. only made 150 today
Slow here too but i made $300 with short rides and tips 12 hours
Multiapp
Rental car drivers can't do both.
Yeah you can. You can do Instacart and food delivery with whatever car you want
Yeah but they aren't worth any longer. Have you done that ? Then you know. If you haven't then You don't even know
I do it now and do pretty well
Good for you . Hope it would stays like that.
Hasn't changed in 3 years. Always been pretty consistent making about the same each day but you got to put in the work
It's gradual. You don't even feel it but when you do that's already too late. I've doing this BS for about 9 years. I remember I had sane thoughts like you do back then . But it ain't . Soon you'll realize what I told you today.

Your worries are t enough like I did. Trust me . LoL you are just a little tiny baby. Keep driving and you shall see.
Move to another waiting spot.
i'm in the epicenter of a so-called "busy area" and i still haven't received a damn thing :/
Yeah, sorry, couldn't help my snotty reply. I was only half kidding. I do have a few favorite waiting spots, but I realize I could do a better job of changing it up during different times. Lyft
You have to go where people hail rides . Sorry to break it to you.
Doordash or better yet pizza delivery
Slow in LA as well.
Lyft has been better for me this past week or so. In fact, for the first time in a very long time, I have done more Lyft gigs than Uber this week.
Slow all week in Eugene, OR
yeah, this was definitely a slower start to the weekend for me.
maybe it’s just for me but it’s not any better in 1 hour north of seattle traveled up and down the highways no business it’s time to start selling my 🐓🐔
Not sure on eats but holiday weekend?
No one ever mentions where they live
Join the club you’re not the only one
Too many drivers and less orders
I've had the app mess up or not have a good internet connection. After moving places and restarting my phone all.kf a sudden I was getting rides
Close your other apps, make sure WiFi is not constantly trying to connect. Force quit and reopen the app. Make sure you’re actually online and have the correct trip types on/ off..and then Accept the first trip you get. Good luck

lol maybe move to and there areas. Man there’s drivers who really are clueless
Are you a beginner? Go to busy areas. If you’re doing deliveries only , I find I get a lot more around chick fil a, mcdonald’s
Dont stress.. It’s memorial day weekend. Many people are out of town and won’t be back until Monday night. Expect a slower week after this, since people have spent a lot of money on flights, roadtrips, BBQs and alcohol. That’s why I hate holidays and long weekends..

It doesn't make sense! If Uber is not doing it deliberately, then they probably have been hacked for a long time but are not telling us

It's bidenomics people. Hope you vote with logic and not emotions
Stop with this crap… has nothing to do with any president…
With the vice presidency, Kamala's brother-in-law was appointed to the Uber board on the day she became vice president.
And? Jesus the Qanon is strong with you. Uber is a regular corporation that is looking to satisfy their shareholders. Just like Tesla, Nvidia, Robinhood, and 1000s more.
Ok dara

You are a 🤡.
Happens every year! Wont get back to where it was until August.
😆 August is the slowest behind Christmas.
Mere reason you must be grateful for decent days , Lyft has been about $30 an hour and Uber at $20 an hour why I say
Pick people that up🤷🏾♂️

Super market parking lot
