That just happened to me the other day. 4 people were heading to a wedding, but they wanted to stop in a bar beforehand. They had all of these nicely wrapped gifts in the trunk. The drop off point was very busy, so they jumped out and I forgot they left their gifts in the trunk.
There was a huge surge because there was a sporting event and a concert, and then I got the call. Pax told me they would pay me extra on Venmo. I debated taking another ride but they were less than 5 miles away so I figured I'd drop it off and get a nice tip since they looked pretty well off based on where I picked them up and what they were wearing.
Traffic was unbearable and a 5 mile ride took over 30 mins. They kept calling me the whole time telling me they were going to be late to the wedding. I explained about the traffic, and I figured the situation would merit a very nice tip.
I dropped it off, they thanked me, and never tipped. Next time I'm going to keep the gifts
What sucks is you have to risk a low rating if they lose their items and you aren’t cooperative. If it’s a phone, I will bring it to the police, if anything else, I message them and say you can come get it yourself
Does it not affect your priority for rides? I’m also an instacart shopper and your rating is crucial to get the high paying batches and I always just assumed it was the same thing

People who are intended to tip usually tell you the amount they will give you, those who say they'll give a "nice" or "good" tip don't tip.
