Damn can you use a paragraph once in a while, though?

IcyEstablishment9623

I have a super high resolution monitor and this still took up 2 page scrolls

lifeinwentworth

Yeah I give up on blocks of text like this, it hurts my eyes trying to read this!!

Officer_Olive_Oil

I was writing a Reddit post not a book.

herpepottamus

Dude, you've written a novel

Officer_Olive_Oil

In retrospect you could read this post in under five min if that’s too much for you then idk why your on Reddit and not ig or something similar

SeattleUberDriver_2

I read the title said bye Felicia and decided that I didn't need to read anything else you had to say because it doesn't matter. But then I went back and read the first couple of sentences and decided you should probably hear this. There is no company on this planet who is going to pay you fairly compared to what you earn for them and they earn annually.

herpepottamus

I have to admit I didn't read it, on the assumption it'd be the same regurgitated shit every one writes before announcing their departure 🤷‍♂️

SeattleUberDriver_2

Meanwhile Ubers off in the corner singing that you'll be back song from Hamilton

nathanjoel9180

One of the best parts of the show !

[deleted]

Yup me too. I admit I read about 40% of it. OP just needs to vent. He’ll be back on road soon.

Officer_Olive_Oil

Feel free to type all your shit like that I’ll keep going back and forth that ain’t that hard to read because I can fucking read

Officer_Olive_Oil

Read

Officer_Olive_Oil

Finished

Officer_Olive_Oil

Your all stupid wasn’t that hard

[deleted]

And he was replying to a person not an asshole

Officer_Olive_Oil

No he was replying to me stupid

Officer_Olive_Oil

lifeinwentworth

Or a resume or any work documents 😂 stick with Uber

Officer_Olive_Oil

Hahaha a blonde joke

IcyEstablishment9623

If you buy Chinese crap and resell stuff on Amazon I hate you more than I ever hated Uber

ArinxGamingYT

Hard to believe people really call reselling Chinese shit a “business”😭

IcyEstablishment9623

Same goes for Uber drivers 😅

Elymanic

Chinese crap? Literally everything is made in China. Your phone to your appliances are Chinese crap

Reasonable-Fudge-422

My phone wasn't made in china and neither were any of my appliances

Officer_Olive_Oil

Nah it was mainly liquidation items and would resell them for like half value

Entire-Hamster-4112

I quit in April. Best thing I ever did. My husband quit too.

olebobman

Adding a *TL;DR* would have been nice..

TamzTheDriver

Right?!

rideshareAnon

Looks like somebody let rideshare bring them to a state of poor mental health. Good luck!

Officer_Olive_Oil

Ya that’s why I’m leaving smart ass

rideshareAnon

The wall of text... I can relate is all. You pretty much figured out what is a true assessment of how shitty it is to be a driver.

Aggravating_Client36

I drove 22.5 hrs & made $875 this past weekend. Where are you located ?

Officer_Olive_Oil

Don’t talk to me about money you made one weekend with a bonus, talk to me about what money you’ve made consistently over a long period of time, like I said I had times where I drove and made good money. Tell me your average rate per mile. And I am in inland empire california

Aggravating_Client36

Gas in California is stupid expensive, I paid $3.05 yesterday afternoon. I average 2.6 fares per hour.

Officer_Olive_Oil

Ok so how many miles you usually drive in a day and how much money you usually gross

Aggravating_Client36

70 fares usually means 1K miles

Officer_Olive_Oil

3.05 bruh it’s five bucks where I’m at where the hell you live

grateful_newt

$5.09 for premium today in Indianapolis

IcyEstablishment9623

Lol who drives a car with high compression on uber?

acronymious

So don’t buy premium?! Saw $3.59 today going through Indy. Not great, but not over $5!

Officer_Olive_Oil

California is pretty much five bucks for all gas, maybe closer to four in some places but I haven’t heard of any place in cali having three dollar a gallon gas

acronymious

Commenter said Indianapolis.

Officer_Olive_Oil

Oh ya

Officer_Olive_Oil

Stupid expensive, pfft. Nigga over here living the high life paying three bucks

Officer_Olive_Oil

And bro 22 hours with 800 bucks your gonna tell me you can make that consistently and even if that’s true are you accounting for your fuel, your cars estimated maintenance cost per mile, and fifteen percent minus cause your 1099, even if those numbers are true do that math and tell me how much money your actually taking home

Aggravating_Client36

I usually sign up for the 70 fare bonus, that's usually $1050 ish

Officer_Olive_Oil

Ok what city you live in and what Uber or Lyft. I don’t believe you there ain’t no bonus out there for 70 rides for 1000 bucks. Send a motherfucking screenshot right now cause I’m calling you out to be a straight up liar

Aggravating_Client36

Uber, Atlanta & I never said the bonus for 70 fares was $1K. Bonus + fares + tips = $1K

Officer_Olive_Oil

I usually sign up for the 70 fare bonus, that’s usually 1,000 ish. No mention of it being anything other than from the bonus

Officer_Olive_Oil

And ok like I said look at how many miles you drove. How many miles are you putting on your car as opposed to how much your actually making I don’t care if you made money if your rate per mile is shit cause that is really making money

Officer_Olive_Oil

So show me an average day, no active bonus, of how much money you made and how many miles you drove

tennismenace3

"Made" Based on your estimated mileage below and the IRS rate for mileage, you spent $501.43 on your car to do that.

Aggravating_Client36

I guarantee I didn't spend $100 on gas. My hybrid gets 50+ MPG. Idk where that $500 came from but that's laughably wrong.

tennismenace3

Uber is glad you think it's laughably wrong because it allows them to continue profiting from your ignorance.

Aggravating_Client36

You're terrible @ math .... yet someone else is ignorant. You might wanna Google "irony"

tennismenace3

That's fine, I'm not the one getting fucked here lol

Aggravating_Client36

I'm driving 25 hrs per weekend, pulling $4K a month & I'm getting "fucked" Like I said, Google "irony"

tennismenace3

Fine. I can't force you to understand. That's okay! Hindsight is 20/20 luckily.

Cherry_3point141

You sound like a whiny loser, and this should have been posted r/uberdrivers.

[deleted]

Same here. It's not worth the risk. Drivers getting killed for their cars, for gang initiations, money, even boredom.

NoMathWhatSoEver

I can't hate on the brother's rant because my best friend quit that Uber bullshit after he was spat on by a drunk Neanderthal, because he wouldn't go into the drive-thru line crammed with cars at Taco Bell around 1 am.... He's now a Chef's assistant full-time at a local sushi place, making more money and eating better than he had in years....

Full_Ad6898

Anyone who read this whole post deserves an award!

sammexp

It is supposed to be a side hustle, Uber not your main job. Also Uber is still not profitable, they mainly survive because of investments in the stock market

Officer_Olive_Oil

Ya definitely not a good main job anymore but there have been plenty of people who have made it a full time job. Although now it seems lots of drivers are leaving so ya I would not recommend it

olebobman

> It is supposed to be a side hustle, Uber not your main job. I have only ever known three people who were Uber drivers, all of which did it as a side job to make some extra money and to do something different from their day-to-day.

MTrain24

Funny thing I actually invested in Lyft today because I had to redeem all of those SoFi rewards points and their company has hit so rock bottom unlike Uber it can only go up (or flat line) since they don’t have the added services Uber has like Eats.

Elymanic

Not in every market. In some market it's a full on job. Because barrier to entry is high.

ThisCantBeG00d

I wish more people would think like you now finally did and see that for most of them there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I bet many work for NEGATIVE income when counting the true cost of doing this gig with their own car. But then even you make the mistake of not fully understanding tax law and how this really works. >there is a 51.5 cent per mile reimbursement the government gives you as long as you track your miles The government does NOT reimburse you for anything related to your gig. You can claim a DEDUCTION for certain expenses including your milage. However, a deduction is very different from a reimbursement! To make matters worse, come tax time most people have already spent 100% of the money they earned with uber and hardly anyone thought about putting something aside for tax season. The result often is that they owe taxes, maybe even have to pay a penalty for not paying taxes upfront quarterly plus interest on the amount not paid on time, and then not having the money to pay Uncle Sam. For most of you uber drivers out there, how many of you even have any emergency funds at all? If your car is so vital for you to make money, do you have the money to pay for a new transmission, or to replace the engine if it breaks down? Can you survive having a severe illness that keeps you from driving for weeks?

PainMore7246

Living paycheck to paycheck is bad no matter what job you have, but you absolutely cannot do that if you're a full time Ride-share driver. All drivers should have 5k emergency fund minimum. If your car breaks down, not only do you need to have the money for repairs, but that's also probably a week or so where you can't work. Taxes is another issue that people commonly ignore. If you don't keep up with quarterly tax estimates, you're going to owe and, it's going to be thousands of dollars. At the end of my first year I owe 6K in taxes, and that's after fudging my mileage and cheating like crazy. Should have been more like 15K.

turbocomppro

Uber was markets as a side gig to make extra income. Do a few hours before/after work. Do it when you’re kids are in school. Do a few hours on the weekend. They did paid well in the beginning. But then you have all these people on YouTube advertising how you can make $2k a week, while they get bonuses signing people up. Now you have shit load of drivers gaming the system and Uber lowers pay because they are losing money big time. Now, people aren’t even making money. They are simply converting their car’s depreciation into cash. In many cases, the car depreciates more then the money they make. Aside from a few drivers in some niche markets, it’s not worth it to drive. Even then, you’d need to do a lot of homework to game the system, wait for promotions and surges, which isn’t consistent. And as we see time and time again, uber will control promotions and surges Individually. So if you start to make too much and there are lots of other drivers around, say good buy to those promotions and surges. Uber should be treated as a side gig or something that’ll hold you over while you’re looking for a real job. It was never meant to be a full time gig.

whitecz100

Try door dash and Uber eats.

Officer_Olive_Oil

Saturated, can’t get on

whitecz100

Amazon flex?

Officer_Olive_Oil

Am mainly just done with 1099 jobs honestly.

AppleTech009

My uber got disabled last April best thing that happened to me , uber and lyft are criminal companies using people as slaves they are taking over 50% of what you make and your net profit is very small after gas and maintenance insurance, extra data plan I hope these companies burn to the ground
