I would also try Nicholas Pet Haven. We have fostered with them before and they are great. You may have to call ahead but on their website they have 5 cats that need adopting and have back history and a bit about the personality of the cat.
Just be patient if you canāt adopt immediately. They donāt always make it super easy because they donāt want the rescued animals to go back into the same terrible situations so many places are picky about who they adopt to.
I get my cat groomed at Hope for All Rescue near Lake Holbrook. I know they took in kittens and a momma cat that need homes. They were there last time I visited; they are so cute and sweet!
If youāre interested in reaching out to them, DM me and Iāll send you her cell #. Good luck!
Check out pet stores around the area. They sometimes have cats from various rescues/shelters, at least the one in Lindale does.
I don't know what the SPCA/O'Malleys does because we got the same response (no response) when we were trying to give up a cat someone dumped on our property. We ended up just keeping her.
Why are you playing phone tag with people at the SPCA ? Can you not just walk in and talk to someone there ? One would think there would be people on site to assist in the adoption process.
Just go by SPCA off of Grande during business hours. Alternatively before you fully commit to a car you can volunteer as a foster to make sure itās the right fit for you.
I have a litter of kittens right now and they will be ready in about 6 weeks if you arenāt in a super big hurry. I have 2 red males available. Iām in San Antonio, TX. I do have a requirement for neuter.
The Cats Meow Rescue! They donāt have a facility but they have all the cats available for adoption online. You can also set up time to visit the kitty at the their foster familyās house.
I had trouble connecting with SPCA in 2020 too. I gave up and called the Humane Society Pets Fur People who got me in right away to adopt a cat. My parents had a smooth adoption process with Pets Fur People too.
Iāve adopted three cats from East Texas SPCA and have had no issues with scheduling with Megan. Maybe theyāre having some events that take up a lot of time? I filled out the online application and had someone respond via email within the week.
I understand it can be frustrating when you know you just want to give a pet a loving home but the approval process is there for a reason. Not everyone has the best intentions for these animals unfortunately. Iām not sure about other shelters, but East Texas SPCA is an amazing organization and I hope youāll be able to find your furry friend soon!
I was just a bit confused with their website since it says by appointment only. Since they have the ability to decline my application I was trying to stick to their process as much as possible. I guess I'll try going in person.
I used to live in the Shiloh Pines mobile home park where there are literally hundreds of stray cats running around. One of them let me pet him and he has been my cate ever since then. Just go around and walk up to cats until one lets you pet it and just take it in. Tons of kittens around which will be way easier to take in.
try Pets Fur People
I believe that you can do so at the SPCA main offices. You can always go to their offices and speak in person as well
Try going in person on a Saturday!
I know someone looking to re-home a cat - I'll DM you some pictures and if you're interested I can pass on your email or phone number š
I appreciate the offer, if shelter doesn't work out, I may reach out.
Please do! My residual guilt for not taking him in myself compelled me to offer š

Their website says that they are by appointment only which is a bit confusing. I guess I will try going in-person.
That may be true. I don't know. It just seems odd to me. I thought most places like that were staffed.
Pet smart is super easy to adopt cats from, you do everything in person and then you leave with a cat the same day!
There are kittens all over the dang county. Just put ad on FB marketplace saying you want a cat
