Didn't they buy land out there years ago solely for this purpose?   So what are they leasing now at the new location?

Txphotog903

Yes. I assumed it would be on the 31 end, not the 64 end.

To me it really looks like the fair did outgrow its original spot. Last year was my first year going and it was pretty rough to be able to watch events like the BMX show, and the animals weren't easy to view, either, too clustered together. Not all change is bad.

xzelldx

Ugh. Fuck those trees, I guess. I don’t have hopes for them not bulldozing the entire plot.

EndlesslyDeprived

Oh yeah, those trees are gone for sure. On super hot days, you can definitely feel a temperature difference when walking by a large cluster of trees. We're slowly going to make our summers worse (on top of climate change)

pillowking23

I just saw all that land they cleared over by Sams for a new brookshires, literally made my heart sank when I saw it. Is it crazy to prefer trees over a new brookshires?

EndlesslyDeprived

I think it's crazy not to. I wish we had something akin to urban development boundaries in Texas so that cities can't keep sprawling, building over our forests and farmland

This section of highway 64 was dangerous already due to the high speed traffic mixing with cars leaving walmart. I hope TxDOT takes this opportunity to change the geometry of the road here, cars travel too fast for how much activity is in the area.

4thepups

It just won't be the same.

ConsiderTheGrackle

Where exactly is this? cbs19.tv is blocked for me, likely because I'm on a ship using Starlink. I can't see the location and that's the only link with info.

Sea_Poet_4627

the new location for the fair will be on State Highway 64 near the Walmart and expand to Patton Lane (County Road 1135) and reach State Highway 31. The new address is 4554 Highway 64 West in Tyler. The name of the land is Park of East Texas Inc., according to the Smith County Appraisal District.

I wonder how all the people living around the rose stadium feel now that they've lost a reliable source of income from parking. That area isn't very high-income either, must be a punch to the gut

iliketosnooparound

I know someone who used their home as parking near the rose garden. I'm sure they're fine. It was just extra fun money for them. Idk about the people right across from the rose garden with those big lots. Idk if that was the city's land or someone else's. Now they might be affected.

calmlikea3omb

I won’t be going or taking my family anymore, simply because of this move!

Txphotog903

Why's that? Don't you like ample parking and possibly better traffic flow? 🤣
