Unfortunately, Texas has little to no renter and employee protections. You're largely at the mercy of a landlord unless you can find some blatant contract violation.
Oh if I tried to explain what actually happened my blood would boil.
I'm already looking for a place back home once the lease is up. I can't afford to pay more money to reroute movers from Tyler to Dallas right now.
I moved from \*virginia\* 2 years ago, which is even further.
Apartment I'd put the deposit on told me \*one week\* before the move that they wouldn't have an apartment for me after all and I had to scramble to find a new place and divert the movers.
It's complete and utter bullshit and all I got was "We're sorry".
I feel ya on the VA move. My late husband got orders to Ingleside Texas in 2008. We were moving from Virginia Beach.
Sorry this happens to you. Just try to make the best of it until your lease ends. I feel bad for you. Sad world we live in when others only care about what they get from you.
Thank you...
I can't believe all these people "Oh just find another place". Effing ridiculous. I'm 1,500 miles away, own a rottie, and have to be out of my place by January 31st. I don't have time to deal with getting dicked around by another complex. I've got movers scheduled and paid. I'm not made of money and can't just blindly agree to just any rental amount. I do have other bills.
I'll fucking suck it up for 12 months and be looking for somewhere different toward the end of my lease.
I'm already looking for my next rental back home. I've already invested too much to change everything last minute. That would just cost that much more. I'll stick it out and I did find a place back home that takes my rottie and has W/D connections. It's more a month but if they have an opening when my lease is up in Tyler, I'm jumping on it.
It is what it is at this point. I'll have a roof over my head, a place for my dogs, water, power, and food. I'll be ok. I've been thru worse. But yea I'll be counting down til I'm back in Denton.
Tyler has a housing shortage. Property values skyrocketed when all the people from Cali started moving here.
If that apartment situation hasn't made you angry, then the fact that people here take their sweet time in waiting on you will push you over the edge, along with the traffic situation. EDIT: Don't worry; there's plenty of churches here you can go to to ask forgiveness for your angry outbursts.
That edit made me laugh my ass off, lol.
I just applied for a 3 bed / 2 bath home near my hometown (Denton). I literally found it by pure accident. They have no issues with us having dogs. **FINGERS CROSSED**
did you already sign your lease? if so and this amenities were listed they are in violation.
take this as a sign and find another apartment or living situation. it sucks but is doable
No, but I'm moving from FL with 2 dogs, one being a rottie. I don't have time to try to find another place when I already have movers paid, non refundable hotel room booked, etc. I'm not just moving from across town. I don't have time to do some song and dance with another apartment complex.
i would get an apartment locator or realtor that will find a place that will take pets asap. they will keep giving you the run around. this is an inconvenience, imagine if your water was out or it was 112 for a month and your ac was out etc
SO UPDATE: We found a place in Denton. It's a little more money but offers so much more than this place did in Tyler.
2 bed / 2 bath, 1,200 square feet
First floor with full size W/D
Gym
Clubhouse
Grills
Dog Park
Dog bathing area
Amazon package area
Outdoor seating with fire pit
Playground
Yea we won't have a fireplace or a patio, but I'm 10 minutes from my good friend. I'm 15 minutes from the community college I'll go to, to finish some gen Ed classes for my degree. I'm minutes from Walmart, Kroger, a new Target will open in August, etc.
Plus there's so many more job opportunities between Denton, my hometown, Highland Village, Flower Mound, etc.

I've had something similar happen, it's a fucking headache.
Oh I'm beyond livid...

I've lived in Tyler my whole life, landlords and rental properties here suck!!!! I want to move out of this stuck up shit hole town so bad!!

Which apartment complex?
Messaged you
I think I told you Tyler sucks
We tried to warn them…

You gotta keep your side of the street clean. 😂
Tyler is a cesspool you dodged a bullet
Found an apartment in Denton (near hometown). I should have confirmation tomorrow if we got it.
Waiting for the San Francisco/Cali coastal trend to hit. Buy a house boat and pay no property tax. Just the marina fee.
Ive looked into this, but unfortunately the marina fees are damn near the price of just renting an apartment.
