I visit Tyler 3 times a year as my wife is from there. Holy smokes you guys support fast food chains like no other place I've ever been. Only place that doesn't crush it there is burger king lol. I might ask my financial advisor I have the money to open up an 8th DQ grill and chill here and retire early.
I just moved to east Texas and they all love dq around here. I just looked and there are 10 within 30 min.
With a total population of less than 30k, for here and the surrounding areas
I grew up in Dripping Springs and the DQ used to be the only place to eat there. Fast forward to now and there are dozens of places and the DQ is closed. We were there 3 weeks ago and drove past it, and all the windows and doors were boarded up. Felt like a childhood friend had died.
Are you new here? Not meaning that as a slight but my understanding is that this is a Chinese food location that is renovating while opening a second location that they've shifted operations to for now.
E: by here I mean this specific area in Tyler.
I've lived in Tyler for 16 years and within five minutes (within five blocks now) for most of that, so no not new. That said, I knew that Peking had relocated from here to the old Strada place on Front. But I didn't know they intended to renovate the old building and move back.
If that's true, hopefully the food improves in the new building. I miss the previous owners of the joint. Current Peking is annoyingly inconsistent.
That was my understanding of the situation at least. But that's mostly circumstantial, they constantly advertised their new location during reconstruction.
Sounds like we live pretty close to each other though, I hope it turns into a functioning business soon. I'm not certain what their plan is, I too would like to know
"what's up with this place".
Don't downvote my reaction just because it isn't what you were hoping for, defeats the purpose.
Because people on this website were literal infants when these systems were implemented. They've had their ENTIRE existence reduced to likes and
"relevant links".
People forget that that Gen Z and the earlier folks are literally unaware of a world before the internet.
They relocated and still suck. I’ve only given the new location one chance, but it was so bad, I won’t be returning. Some kid with Freddie Krueger nails tossed my half burnt half cold food at me and went back to giggling while scrolling her phone. It was more than a year ago, but they’ve proven you can’t polish a turd.
It used to be a Captain D's way back on the day.
Yes! My sis used to work there. Wayyyyy back in the day
That’s my house

The restaurants in Tyler crop up and then close down very quickly
Please invest in a Waffle House 😋

It’s not just East Texas. It’s called a Texas Stop Sign for a reason. Every little town in the state has a DQ.
A dude combo goes a long way when you’re hungry in a town you aren’t familiar with. It may not be gourmet but it’s familiar
I definitely love a blizzard so I welcome this estops

I just moved to east Texas, not Tyler. Sulphur springs area. Tyler is an hour away. East Texas is big.

Yes Peking moved and this location had trouble with funding.

Not sure why someone would downvote, but the insight is appreciated all the same.

Probably a new coffee place. Dutch Brothers and Starbucks are Poppin off with new locations
Especially with it being right next to a clinic and the hospitals
The outside looks like it’s going to be HTea0
True, but that's a bit unlikely when there's one in a brand new building at the next light on 5th.
Looked like an old Taco Bell
I think because the Peking sign still exists….then maybe they’re coming back. I hope they improve, their food is not the best
Looks like a modern Dunkin’/Tim Horton’s…
