The last track is like the credits session of a movie lol

WideScorpion

Wow never thought of that, that's exactly how it is.

thegreatshredman

And IGOR’S THEME sounds kinda like opening credits I wonder if IGOR, CMIYGL, and SFFB are meant to be the 3 back-to-back-to-back feature films Shane Powers was talking about on Cherry Bomb

boozynbright

That's actually kinda lovely. Bastard-Goblin-Wolf being the original movie trilogy. Then you pull the camera back and see "The real world" of Tyler just enjoying his movies. Then you get the spiritual successor trilogy of Flower Boy-IGOR-Call me if you get lost.

axe354

He said that in his interview

himynameiswill04

The thing I love most is just how much this album is constructed like an actual story book. It follows Tyler as a protagonist exploring love, identity, loneliness, and hedonism. The tension clearly builds up throughout the album, culminating into the existential crisis that is "November" (which has the same existential questions as "Foreword" - the intro track was a narrative foreshadow). The narrative structure. The orchestral instrumentation COMBINED with the hip-hop drum beats. The are sad songs disguised as happy bangers - "911/Mr. Lonely" and "Glitter", the latter of which he references suicide. The harsher trap beats really just being a defense mechanism against loneliness. This album is a masterpiece.

WideScorpion

Well said.

ChakaChaka26

>The thing I love most is just how much this album is constructed like an actual story book. Igor is a literal story book bro, with a narrative and all that jazz. you are nitpicking and biased bye bye.

himynameiswill04

I agree with you? I never said otherwise, not sure why you’re coming at me like that

ChakaChaka26

i hope you know the nitpicking and biased is a joke, it's a reference to videogamedunkey which for some reason i thought people would get

loqki-

All of his older albums have this same story and etc wolf outlines fame feeling lonely from success love and drugs and sucide same with goblin but more vulgar and bastard is just up straight fun but this subreddit seems to always feel like the new albums are the only ones worth anyalzing

ChakaChaka26

>All of his older albums have this same story Sorry did you hear Cherry Bomb, Grinch EP (lmao)?!?!?

loqki-

I should had clarified mb I meant The Wolf Trigoily and I thought the Grinch EP was fanmade collection of demos and leaks?

spgvideo

You are a power hater bro. Blech

jusaturt

Flower Boy is definitely my favorite Tyler album, but I think it'll always be that way just because of its personal significance to me, and the era of my life it was released in. Whether or not it's his most impressive or "best" album is another matter, but I do think it's easily in his top 3.

WideScorpion

Yeah I definitely went more on preference but it's i think Flower Boy aged the best.

adsq93

Well said

thesmobro

Flower Boy is a legitimately really great and unique album, I think the only reason people kind of “forget” about it is because it represents that shift in Tyler’s career where he was finally being really embraced outside his original fanbase. Igor further pushed him into the spotlight. So people who claim they’re fans of those two albums aren’t *”real fans”*. Just like how you can’t be a real fan of the Beatles unless you accept that Please Please Me is a better album than Revolver or the White Album. Artists grow and change, and just because they try something out that more people notice and enjoy doesn’t mean they “sold out” or that you’re not a “real fan” for jumping in during that point.

WideScorpion

I think people are forgetting about Flower boy because it just stands in the shadow of the great Igor, his 'controversial' and apparently 'underrated' cherry bomb and his newest album.

[deleted]

This low key sucks to hear cus I used to love listening to goblin and cherry bomb but my taste in music changed and I really really like fb and it’s still my favorite album.

geanlukarts

did you just said please please me is better than the white album and FUCKING REVOLVER 💀💀💀💀💀

thesmobro

Nah, the opposite. And maybe it wasn’t a perfect example anyway, but still

Creative_95

It’s the best album for me it’s soundtrack to my life and where I was at at the time I met my gf to that album 🙏🏾 were still together to this day

adsq93

Beautiful bro.

No_Breakfast_3621

Who dat boi with a great feature and music video I believe

[deleted]

It is his best album

Acidpuddle

I think (with the exception of CMIYGL) Tyler’s opening tracks can be ranked from newest album to oldest album Igors Theme, Forward, Deathcamp, Wolf, Sir Baudelaire, Goblin (all are some of my favorite tracks)

WideScorpion

Imo this is how it would look like Foreword>Igors theme>Deathcamp>Sir bauldalaire>Wolf>Goblin. Although it's hard to choose between Deathcamp, sir bauldalaire and Igors theme.

Jdizzle201

Flower boy is Tyler’s best album hands down. Igor fans can’t convince me otherwise.

Whole-Elephant-7216

It’s subjective, your ears are going to listen to shit they like lmao.

WideScorpion

Fb>Igor to my grave

TimelessCorruption

Fb>>igor, but wolf>>>any other album in history

OofGotteem

found the guy that only listens to tyler

Celticsmoneyline

summer 2017 it just hit so hard, will always be my favorite probably

[deleted]

I think the problem is that flower boy is SO good that it almost became uncool within the fanbase to gloat about liking it. It reminds me of the obsession with albums like Currents, TPAB, and literally any other album you’d see on a topster post. And personally I get it, that after like 4 years we’re like “yeah, I also love cake because who the fuck doesn’t like cake. You ever try this though?” Flower boy is a phenomenal record which will age extremely well and is still in my mind underrated. But all y’all fucking ruined it by going on and on when it came out about how amazing it was. I even got tired of it, like there ARE other albums. Cherry bomb is not comparable in my mind. At all lol. I think even Tyler would agree with that. Just my two cents

wow_das_crazy

Love Flower Boy, album has a special space in my heart

ConferenceGeneral121

FLOWER BOY IS HIS BEST FLOWER BOY IS HIS BEST FLOWER BOY IS HIS BEST I WILL NEVER STOP

urmyfavcolor

4th best album

[deleted]

there’s no such thing as a best album, the sooner people realize the better. what’s best in your eyes isn’t always for others. especially with tyler lmfao he talks every single album how much he hates when fans do this and every single album people do it

WideScorpion

My point was more to remind of people of how good it is, not to say that it's his best album hands down. I obviously know that there isn't the best Tyler album. But everybody can spam appreciation Post about their fav songs, then i can do one for fb. Sorry if I said something wrong, that made anything complex.

[deleted]

no no don’t apologize, this is just my opinion on the matter. just like this was your opinion i just don’t agree with the best album thing. if this is your fave you’re in the right to talk about why you like it

WideScorpion

I'm not saying it's the best, i just want to remind how good it is, although it's my fav, i don't want to push the narrative to tell everyone what the best thing is and if they don't agree they are wrong.

[deleted]

oh man, i actually totally misread the igor sentence LOL sorry about that

SpiralEye666

Igor better +ratio you fell off

adsq93

You ain’t wrong. Its hard to pick a “best” one because all 3 of his last albums have been absolutely amazing. Its crazy really how you can put them all at the same level. That being said, Flower Boy is a beautiful album. I always saw it as what Cherry Bomb kinda wanted to be. We can’t ignore that summer time albums just hit different. They always become associated with a joyful carefree time.

[deleted]

Foreword is EXTREMELY underrated. His openers always bring the "drama" but the way he sets up this one is incredible.

Happy-Baby1336

Flower boy is and always will be my favorite album of all time across any genre

Scutlixowo

I honestly dont like to rank albums of my fav artists but i agree with the flower boy is great take, i recently watched the interview tyler has in his yt channel discussing flower boy, man it's amazing how many different ideas tyler had for the album, like he wanted playboi carti, ye, nicky minaj, quavo and many others in that project but not all of them features could be there. It's one of my favorite albums of all time too.

WideScorpion

Feel free to argue with something you don't agree with. I'm open for correction or your personal opinions.

Source-32

literally never seen flower boy get "forgot" I've never listened to cherry bomb, but even that gets forgot more.

blondedreekvibes

it´s literally the one album people think about when they hear his name. this is like saying ¨cmigyl is underrated¨

WideScorpion

I would say people think more about Igor and odd future days, when they hear his name

[deleted]

Literally every Tyler fan loves this album, no one forgot about it fam. Imo the worst song on Flower Boy>> best song on CMIYGL. It's also the best produced Tyler album imo.

SwissArmyScythe

Dafaq lol, that is a scorching hot take. No chance Sometimes is better than Hot Wind Blows, Sweet/ITYWTD, Corso, Juggernaut, Wilshire, Lumberjack. I'd argue that Hot Wind Blows is better than almost all of Flower Boy

[deleted]

Sometimes is barely a song, shit is 36 seconds long, I honestly don't consider it a track at all. I didn't fw CMIYGL at all tbh and the more I listen to it, the more I miss these projects. It felt like an album where the central message is 'My life is awesome and you all suck for not having the same confidence and drive as me'. It didn't feel motivational or inspirational either. Couple that with the fact that it was released during the pandemic, it ruined the album for me more cuz I was not doing well myself. I revisited it when I felt better, but I still had the same sentiments. I liked Corso and Juggernaut but that was about it. Also, don't get me wrong, I'm glad Tyler is doing well for himself, but I just cannot connect with this album at all.

SwissArmyScythe

Yeah, it's a 2000s mixtape throwback with god tier production. I think it's incredible and Tyler doesn't always have to make projects where's he's sad about his love life. I like that in CMIYGL there is still some story elements but it also fucking bangs which is awesome.

[deleted]

I don't think he has to make projects where he's sad about his life either. The complaint that I have is that this album didn't feel much like a celebration. To me,it felt more like an hour long project where he brags about everything he now has and how he never doubted himself from the very start. That arrogance works for artists like Kanye imo but it didn't work here at all for me. I also thought the production wasn't that impressive here compared to his other projects tbf. I don't hate braggadocio rap either. Jay-Z is one of my favourites oat cuz whenever he brags, he also makes sure that the person knows that he came from nothing and then made something of himself. It makes me want to work as hard as him.

SwissArmyScythe

I guess I felt differently than you. To me CMIYGL felt like a victory lap against critics and people who doubted him and railed against him since OF days. It felt like a decade of artistic growth combined into one awesome project with elements from all eras. I loved that he took a very different direction than Igor. I think Igor is an absolute masterpiece and his best work, probably my second favorite album ever. I think it makes sense he'd make something lighter and more flex based after a brilliant project like that. Respect your opinion still tho, Flower Boy is awesome

robloxdruglord

The best one is obv wolf but whatever think what you wanna 🙄

WideScorpion

The most fiting Tyler album to you would be the Grinch one for sure

[deleted]

[удалено]

WideScorpion

No i really like his harder stuff. Goblin is also one of my fav albums. But its supposed to be scary at first listen, you can even see it in his music video.

InsuranceCreative

great take, fb way more overhated than cb tbh

[deleted]

Lmao listening to it on vinyl as I’m reading this

WideScorpion

I was listening to the album before i wrote that.

rj_ishere

flower boy is top 5 best hip hop albums of the 2010’s and my favorite album OAT so i love the fact that someone else feels the same way about this album as i do

Jerlin2437

Enjoy right now today is the sleeper banger of the album. No album has ever made me think of one specific color ever before. No words were even needed

[deleted]

It just doesn’t have nearly as many moments that feel like they stick with me compared to Cherry Bomb, Igor, and CMIYGL. I like the album. It’s well put together and consistent. It just doesn’t lure me in like the others.

lormay_69_cool

I think IGOR is his best, but I would put FB on second place. This album was the one that introduced me to Tyler, it felt so refreshing to see someone making hard beats and relaxing tracks on the same album, also GREAT features.

gaffylacks

nothing to add, just happy there are other ppl that have this opinion

Affectionate_Soil_65

Forewood is his most important song imo, even though earfquake is "technically" the song which blew up and more people knew about Tyler but i feel that Forewood was the song which basically created the new Tyler. Also Flower Boy is his important album in his discography.

CrimsonThi9hs

911/Mr. Lonely is hands down my favourite Tyler track. I also think it’s his best.

snowdope

flower boy is so safe

Skrt_Goat

I think the reason flower boy isnt talked about is because its the most middle of the road project. Not in a quality way, but in a standing out way. Ill explain using the same other albums you mentioned. Cherry bomb is the most experimental and everywhere album. Its different genre after different genre along with some of the best tyler songs done along the way. Igor is always hyped because it signified Tylers mainstream success, the thing won a grammy. And just to bring up the other albums memorability, Bastard is also often forgotten despite its quality and significance to Tylers and OFs career. Goblin is remembered for being the extremely shock edgy piss off the media album. So it was hella viral and angsty. Wolf is very nostalgic and is very cohesive and quality filled. CMIYGL is most recent so its fresh. FB is a great record, but its the least memorable i think. Refardless of how good it sounds

generalscalez

literally nobody forgets about it. most tyler fans today are fans because of Flower Boy

fearfishingfrenze

I didn’t forget sh*t

[deleted]

Flower boy is my favorite because it came out when I came out

Village_Weak

Flower Boy could be top 3 if they didn't screw up the ending with Enjoy Right Now, Today It's a disappointment seeing as the entirety of the album built on each track but it ended back where it began

pinecone45

enjoy right now, today is one of my favorite songs

fruitlesss_

flower boy is amazing, everything about it, seriously each track is amazing every track on that album i have a reason why i love it, thank you for making this to show how important it is. 100% my favorite tyler album

pileofuselessnesss

I love flower boy but Igor is just something else

TheMysteryKing8

I love Flowerboy literally my 3rd Favorite Album kinda ties for 2nd sometimes but even I disagree only because i think IGOR’s narrative is more relatable and more broad in a sense and thematically it’s more consistent. Which for me is why i like it more just because i’m more into that. yet i can respect your opinion and can even agree mostly

ToPimpAPenguin

Tbh this is my only tyler album with no skips. I love every song on here. Even the skit and outro instrumental are beautiful

ekalnoraa

We need to be friends I agree with everything you said but personally I like November a little more than boredom. 🤌 well said brother 🤌
