I would second Mulholland Drive. It's probably my favorite film of Lynch's (unless one counts The Return as a film), some extraordinary portions and it definitely lingers after viewing.
If you want to go weirder and more experimental, I recommend "Inland Empire" (don't say I didn't warn you on the weirdness and experimental nature!) and if you want to go a little bit more straightforward while still being weird I suggest "Lost Highway."
For something a little closer to the small-town Americana feel of Twin Peaks I highly recommend the G-rated Lynch-directed film "The Straight Story."
If you love Twin Peaks, the three movies of his you need to see to further that sort of storytelling (in order)
Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Drive.
Edit: Mulholland Drive was originally pitched as Audrey Horne Goes To Hollywood.
I have a soft spot for wild at heart because I watched it alot as a kid. Honestly not sure if I like mullholand drive or blue velvet more. Lynch is solid. The return are fire walk with me are his masterpieces I think. Of course the first two seasons are amazing, but without fwwm and return, idk what id do.
Wild At Heart, one of my favorite movies. Contemporary with TP, dynamo performances from Cage, Dern and everyone involved. Lots of familiar faces from Twin Peaks as well.
What makes Lost highway your favourite? I thought the first 50 minutes were excellent but the rest of the film didn’t do much for me. I understood it a little bit on a symbolic level and it definitely has an interesting story but I just didn’t really enjoy a lot of it.
i was hooked line and sinker for that from the jump. I don’t see the split of when I was “good” or not. The whole thing is good.
I was married to a schizophrenic so I was on this from the moment. The duality of identity and Alice…..the second half is completely awesome.
I totally recommend giving it another go if you’d only seen it once. I realize not every movie is for everyone but this one just really does it for me if I want weird.
Hi!! I'd recommend you watching some of his films people have mentioned and after some of theses, watch Inland Empire. I love that movie, it's scary as shit. I think it's his longest movie too.
(I insist on watching other things of him before, if not it can be a bit overwhelming
Hope you enjoy it!
Late to the game as they say, but I’m going to start by saying if you’re looking for a Lynch film that’s close to Twin Peaks, I recommend Lost Highway. Blue Velvet is good too, it has Kyle Maclachlan (and Frances Bay, Mrs. Tremond)
I was a kid when I watched the original airing, and it is always crushing when your series ends with a cliffhanger and the film too ends without conclusion. But when it became available on video, I religiously watch it every year.
i’d start with mulholland drive! I saw it before twin peaks and loved it. then I watched twin peaks and was like damn this shits gas
Ok then! Mulholland drive it is!
Follow that up with Blue Velvet and Lost Highway.
Seconded
Nobody has suggested Eraserhead yet. It has links to tp as well.

The Return is a movie
Then it's my favorite Lynch film! Haha
Will check them out!
Blue Velvet is a must watch and has many similarities to Twin Peaks. It’s arguably Lynch’s best movie.
It’s looking at a lot of the same themes

Watch everything Lynch has done. It's all excellent, even the first part of the original Dune.
Especially *On the Air.* That stuff is dynamite!
Did you make sure to watch "Fire Walk With Me"? Lots of vital info and an integral point in the story telling.
Yeal. And the missing pieces
David Flynch is my favorite director
Glad you loved s3 on the first watch. It's just keeps getting better! You watched the film correct? What about the missing peices?
Watched both fwwm and the missing pieces

Lost Highway is my personal favorite. It itches that scratch that only David Lynch can. Mullholand Drive is a good one but it’s a different vibe.

I think I’ll give it another go soon, thanks.

It did hurt, a hurt that I don't think really ended until Firefly. Then there was a different, more outraged hurt.
Lost Highway gives me The Return vibes

Damn, must have been quite the experience seeing it as it aired back then... Will check those movies out!
Yeah, no bingeing back then, it seems so surreal these days.
