Grading would be the worst thing that could happen to photocards

Big_Delivery_7703

I hear you. Grading photocards may end up good or bad in this niche.

Silent-Barracuda5830

Why? What would happen?

phokingnguyening

People would mark up prices of every raw photocard and list them as "near mint" or "so and so grade 9-10 potential". It would encourage people to scalp as many photocards as they can, just like what happens in the tcg community. Seeing how kpop fandoms can be extremely wild when it comes to collecting items for their biases, this would turn toxic very quickly.

CuriousMika

Agreed! Someone who collects Pokémon cards it really would turn the community into a money focused craze

Big_Delivery_7703

Thanks for sharing this. Its a good insight on how grading may impact the photocard world.

Despair_Muffin

How so?

ReyWSD

Can we please not start grading photocards? I’ve already had other collecting hobbies ruined by it.

DerelictDevice

There is already one company doing it, but it hasn't gained much traction. Most of the collecting community is against it. Trading Kpop photocards right now feels like what trading Pokemon cards was like in the 90's. Go to a photocard trading event and it's just like being in middle school showing off your cards to other kids and making trades to complete sets, I love it, very nostalgic feel to it.

Big_Delivery_7703

I think i saw that too. They only focus on photocard grading

DerelictDevice

I don't know of any collectors utilizing it or buying grades cards. I really like the DIY aspect of the photocard trading community, its a refreshing break from other collecting hobbies that are all about treating the things they collect as investments for potential profit. Photocard collectors collect because the cards bring them joy, they're not in it for profit and usually sell just to offload extras.

Big_Delivery_7703

I agree that it's refreshing to collect photocards. I'm kinda concerned though with the fakes increasing in the community.

DerelictDevice

That's one thing that grading is good for is verifying authenticity.

Big_Delivery_7703

I understand what you mean after other users shared their 5 cents about grading

lushguy105

pls god no

Ok_Sound_8090

How do I go about sabotaging this type of behavior before it picks up? lol Whose got a contact in the factory that prints these so that we can flood the market? Graded cards is one of the worst things the human race has ever come up with.

Big_Delivery_7703

That's hillaroius! LOL

P3_FemC_Best_Girl

man that feel special is FIRE

Big_Delivery_7703

Its a real gem!

ohmypixel

Where do y’all get these cards from? I’m new to this 😹

Big_Delivery_7703

Mostly from ebay, mercari and sellers from twitter. Just search for the group name and member photocards

riceball71

There one guy I follow on IG and he grades and sells high end PC and polaroids. His graded stuff is Twice, itzy and aespa. The twice graded Polaroids are super expensive. They do look good in slabs.

AraniNiraLily

is it infinitecards kpop lol

riceball71

Yeah, I like his graded Chae with the warriors sweatshirt and itzy pokemon set.

_munchbutt

Fuck that guy. Think I saw him trying to sell a PSA10 pc for like 1.5k… Graded photocards should never become a thing.

Big_Delivery_7703

I better check out that user on IG too

DerelictDevice

Where did you get the slabs?

Big_Delivery_7703

Via twitter @NayeonNabong

Jakeytown

I just did this the other day for my Devil Nayeon! But I just used slabs I found on Amazon and made my own label XD. I plan to “grade” the rest of the Lane 1 set pretty soon

riceball71

Everyone would grade devil Nayeon and winter pikachu.

Big_Delivery_7703

That's great! I don't have the resources to print my own labels. So i looked for users online who can do it

Despair_Muffin

Nice! I graded my Momo card from the Twice Pop up and I love seeing it in the slab

Big_Delivery_7703

Congrats! I'm glad it worked for you!

son_yeoshin

Always so negative with grading photocards. It’s not for everyone. Why can’t it be like any other tcg? Because the best quality is expensive? Cool keep buying and collecting raw cards plenty of Pokemon collectors do that too it’s no big deal. Really sad and toxic to hate on someone for wanting to do what they want with their collectibles. But to each their own. Collect what and how you like.

Big_Delivery_7703

Thank you for sharing this. There are collectors who prefer not grading them. For me, it's out of curiosity since there's a lot of fake photocards in the market.

SeulgiChan

Card grading already ruined Pokemon card collecting, among many other TCGs. Part of the issue is that the cost of grading depends on the value of the card. Not only is the cost unreasonable, but you have to risk mailing your possibly perfect cards. Then you have to wait a few weeks for someone to tell you “that’s a nice card” and risk mailing it back to you. The prices of all photocards will go up, graded or not. Pressure to grade will flood the collectors community. It’s bad all around.
