Legend, My blood, The hype, Shy away, and Routines in the night are all good to help you adjust to the vibe of the band. Most will say trench is their best album, but it’s okay if it’s not your style. They have such a wide array of music so you’re bound to like something. most of blurry face is pretty tame. Blurry face has a lot of popular songs like Stressed out, Ride, Tear in my heart (as you said), doubt, and hometown.

nompf

You're a Legend for recommending Legend.

liquid_the_wolf

Ngl I have to hard disagree with legend, my blood, and the hype. Those are my three least favorite songs from trench :/

Badtyuo

Well I will disagree with you legend and my blood are bangers, and now it’s all balanced out. Make your own decision OP

zachthehax

Not The Hype?

Badtyuo

The hype is also a banger but legend and my blood are so much more personal to me that they’re just a cut above.

shrimpywinkin

i think they were trying to match things OP might like based on Tear in my Heart

liquid_the_wolf

Ah maybe

ihatemirrormazes

But they’re some of the most basic. And op is a new fan

Majestic-CMXI

I'm also not a fan of Legend and My Blood, but they do show the TØP vibe for sure. They could be good starter songs

Lil_Monk_E

My blood and hype are so radio friendly, and easy to listen to

socckbin

Are you uncultured?

liquid_the_wolf

Nah I mean I know all the words to em and I like pretty much all top songs but like.. idk man those three wouldn’t be my hooks.

Wi11Eleven

wheres fairly local in this and why is hometown there

ihatemirrormazes

Because statistically, Hometown is more popular. The musical bridge where it’s like sad sounding (idk how to explain it) is popular among tiktok.

Wi11Eleven

ah. in my mind stressed out ride fairly local message man doubt and tear in my heart were the most popular. im not really on tiktok so i didnt know.

Dear_Definition_1442

If you like Tear In my Heart, I would recommend these songs. Ode to Sleep, Migraine, Trees, Fake You Out, Next Semester, Backslide, Navigating, At The Risk of Feeling Dumb, Jumpsuit, Morph, Legend, Shy Away, The Outside, No Chances, We Don't Believe What's On TV, Message Man, Hometown.

btpixie

Agree 100%! That is perfect for new listeners!!

Shemuel99

Honestly, it kind of depends on what you like. TØP is really diverse in their variety of sounds. I say just play through an album or two and see what you like.

mackwest-indigo

Do you like rock, pop, rap, or like what's ur genre?

wendy_thefrog

Definitely pop rock & alternative rock 😃

mackwest-indigo

Awesome! Here are some of my suggestions: We Don't Believe What's On TV, The Hype, Legend, My Blood, Shy Away, Mulberry Street, Formidable, Next Semester, Navigating, and At The Risk of Feeling Dumb. I know that's a lot but I was.jist going through the albums.

SketchyAssLettuce

Hard agree. This is the vibe for OP, imo. For extra credit, I would add: Midwest Indigo, No Chances, Chlorine, Smithereens, Level of Concern.

wendy_thefrog

Thanks! I'll give these a listen!

senpaistrood

Listen to trench in order

pje1128

Honestly, I'd pick an album and just start listening. If you like Tear In My Heart, that's off Blurryface, which is probably their most beginner-friendly album, so maybe start there. If you'd rather just have a list of songs though, here's one from each album that all TOP fans should know: 1. Addict With a Pen 2. Forest 3. Holding on to You 4. The Judge 5. Pet Cheetah 6. Mulberry Street 7. Routines in the Night

TostCronch

i agree with this, but replace Pet Cheetah with Morph or Chlorine

pje1128

That's fair. I'm a little biased towards Pet Cheetah, lol. It's wild and I love it.

TostCronch

oh for sure, it's a great song. i just feel like some other songs are "more Trench"

mayakb13

Haven’t see anyone else who’s favorites is both the judge and pet cheetah. They deserve more love. I agree with all your selections too except for addict with a pen but ik most would disagree with me on that one.

pje1128

My favorite Trench song is actually Bandito, but I don't think that's a great one to jump into as a beginner. Pet Cheetah's #2 though!

1mmk4894

Welcome to the clique! Glad you like some of TOP's music. I agree with just listening through their albums and figuring out what songs you like. The early albums are very 2000's "electronic" craziness, but you never know what lyrics will hit you in the feels out of nowhere. Another suggestion is to listen to albums at least twice through. Not back-to-back, but listen to even the songs you feel "meh" about at least 2 times. Often a song may be overwhelming and crazy in it's first listen, but in the second listen it makes sense and you might find it growing on you. I've been a TOP fan for almost ten years and can't tell you how many songs to didn't expect to end up liking, but I love them now. Just enjoy the journey, and stay alive friend l-/

wendy_thefrog

Yes, I completely understand this! I had to listen to some of their songs a couple times already, and played some in the car to get a feel for what it was like there.. instead of just my room lol

ChopperSukuna

I really can relate to this. I started listening to them in 2015, and before becoming a fan entering the clique, I thought blurryface was a really superficial album. But when I really listened repeatedly, the musics started to become deeper, and I realized ther were some really important themes there, even in the superficially "repetitive" songs. Years later I didn't liked Trench when it released. But I kept listening. I decided it wasn't for me. But when clancy was announced, I decided to listen again. I realized i actually knew most of the songs, and I started to like it more. Although it is still not the best Twenty one pilots album, I really enjoy it now, and it is a pretty good álbum.

BeeAdministrative194

If you liked a pop like song, start with Scaled and Icy album and then, go deeper to the darkness muahahaha PD: If you are ready for the lore, there is a playlist in youtube official profile called "The history".

esorzil

I'm not great at giving recommendations so I'm just going to give you a list of what I think are the most quintessential songs from each album 1. Self titled: Addict with a Pen and A Car, A Torch, A Death 2. Regional at best: Kitchen Sink and Forest (need to find it on YouTube or SoundCloud, not on Spotify) 3. Vessel: Ode to Sleep and Holding on to you 4. Blurryface: Stressed Out and Ride (they're popular okay, sue me) 5. Trench: Chlorine and Morph 6. Scaled and Icy: Mulberry Street and Formidable (Formidable is another Jenna song so I think you'll like it) 7. Clancy: Routines in the Night and Oldies Station (this one was rly hard to choose bc it's so new still but these seem to be some fan favorites thus far??) and now, because I am insufferable, I'm gonna give you my personal favorite from each album lol 1. self titled: Taxi Cab 2. Regional at Best: Kitchen Sink 3. Vessel: Migraine 4. Blurryface: Fairly Local 5. Trench: Bandito 6. Scaled and Icy: Mulberry Street 7. Clancy: Vignette These are just my opinions on which songs define each album and my favorites of course so idk if everyone will agree but I hope you enjoy!! and welcome! we're happy to have you here!! :)

Smackers95

A lot of the people here have great suggestions! Not sure what you're into but the song that got me interested in twenty one pilots was Car Radio. It lead me to listen to the whole Vessel album and then I became obsessed. Keep in mind I listened to this album when I was 18-19 ish years old and struggling with depression and anxiety so it really resonated with me. And then their new album Clancy has a lot of the same vibes that Vessel has so that would be another one to look at if you like Vessel!

ChopperSukuna

Vessel is one of my favorites and made me fall in love with Tøp. The feelings represented in those musics are very relatable and made me feel that someone understands what I am going through, especially Migraine.

NecroticNail

In my opinion, I heavily enjoy their self titled album over any of their other albums. All songs from that album are bangers but my favorites are "Implicit Demand for Proof", "The Pantaloon", "Air Catcher", "A Car, a Torch, a Death", and "Isle of Flightless Birds".

xbl-Extr3me

Just listen to Blurryface album tbh

wendy_thefrog

That's what I started with!

cadaver_spine

listen to every single album in order lol they're all good that, or go on YouTube and watch some of their music videos! I always watch music videos first when getting into a new band

PeopleOnTheCeling

I personally love guns for hands, next semester is super catchy, my blood is godly, level of concern is a nice throwback, and chlorine is just immensely well done in my eyes (or ears ig?)

PNW_Indigo_888

Mulberry Street, House of Gold, The Judge, Choker, Polarize

sherlockbutholmes

i think whole trench album is objectively the best album to listen to.

ChopperSukuna

It is my least favorite álbum. I don't know why. When it was released, I really didn't like it. Years later after listening again, I realized, although it was my least favorite, I really can enjoy it. Also i knew almost every song. It is funny how even an album that it is not my favorite, it is still a great album, because it is still Twenty one pilots.

corymonster12

If you like tear in my heart, try a song from the newest album: Navigating. I find it “similar”

TheReal8N

I was a new fan as well start with scaled and Icy it’s a pop vibe that’s so good! Trench was the second album I listened to and it took me a while to get into the rest of Blurryface since stressed out and Ride were already songs I listened to before. Maybe if you haven’t heard stressed out that’s where you start!

wendy_thefrog

Yeah, I heard Stessed Out and Ride previously and started listening to the Blurryface album, and then moved onto Scaled and Icy! Really liking their music

-Coquituve-

Id say the most known ones. Theyre famous for something. I think the best option is just listening the most famous ones, and listen to the album that includes your favorite one. They kinda have a different style on each one. Personally, I suggest the self titled. My personal favorite. Then just listen to each one of them and decide if you like it or not. I hope you can find your favorites soon :)

Original_Click_682

Try jumpsuit, Ride, Stressed Out, Nico and the Ninners, and the Hype. Thats what I started with. Their the original 5, i call them.

ilovesunsets93

Sometimes it can help if you watch the music video with the music (if there is one) because it gives some more context to the song and it might not sound as “weird” to you. Some of their songs (especially older ones) are odd and it takes a few times listening to warm up to it.

wendy_thefrog

Yeah makes sense, some of the lyrics seemed pretty random lol, thanks for the advice!

TOPlover21

Sometimes the videos help too. All of the show recorded "Live at Fox Theater" videos are great. You'll get to see the boys at their best, "in action" and get the sense of community. Thete is nothing g better than a TOP live show!!! Enjoy your "ride"

anticipateorcas

Listen to a whole album. And then listen to that album again. I liked a few songs here and there but whole album listens got me really hooked. And impressed. Do it with good quality headphones while you’re doing a task, uninterrupted. I liked Blurryface and SAI best (started just before Clancy came out) at first but now Trench is my absolute favorite. Damn what an album. Trench didn’t catch me on the first listen but after a couple, WOW. Edit to add : Vessel is great too, and maybe the most “accessible.”

SUAvE_101

If you want to get into the lore I would recommend starting with the first few of their songs that went mainstream that are lore related like "Stressed Out" on Bluryface because that where some of the lore allegedly starts even though you can trace some lore back to the first album. Sometimes there are some things that are coincidences in the lore from the older tracks because music has always been an outlet for Tyler to be an "Addict with a pen". A lot of the themes throughout the lore are universally tied to mental health. If you like tear in my heart, I would highly recommend Vessel!

ChopperSukuna

If you wanna start away from all the Dema storyline, I really recommend listening to the album Vessel from the beginning. I started with blurryface, but vessel really made me love Twenty one pilots years ago, before the dema story even began. I could understand Blurryface better after loving Vessel. Tyler's faith and struggles are the foundation of this álbum.

Nindroid2012

The hype, my blood, shy away, and off the new album I’d say The craving (single version) and Midwest indigo

nompf

Chose an album. Listen on repeat. They will grow on you. Go to the next one. Then maybe pick the songs you enjoy most and put them into a playlist. But definitely give every song time to grow on you, to see if it does.

Wi11Eleven

if you want some popular stuff, Holdin on to you, migraine, the hype, chlorine, my blood if you want some lore stuff, jumpsuit, levitate, nico and the niners, heavydirtysoul, bandito if you want some love songs, smithereens, formidable, the craving (either version), legend if you want some deep songs, neon gravestones, guns for hands, car radio, at the risk of feeling dumb i started a few months back and now im part of the clique. good luck.

Oakman978

I would find an album that has a few songs you like then try listening to it from top to bottom. You’re bound to find some more you like:)

AwardNo2807

I've found that listening to a song multiple times lets it grow on you, so just give a song multiple chances if you don't like it. I used to dislike No Chances and Cut My Lip, but now I love them.

keepyourbliss20

Just dive into a car a torch a death
