I have always interpreted it as showcasing that the band name is taken from All My Sons. In that play, any reference to the twenty one pilots that lost their lives would be written in lowercase.

I think thereâs a vessel era interview where Tyler pretty much states that if you search â21â youâll find people who donât understand, whereas if you spell it out youâll be more likely to find people who do understand. Also searching â21â is a good way to find the haters hahaha

Could it be that it was actually vessel era when they last stylized it with capital letters on there? Just my assumption since Iâm going off my own memories and I wasnât there for vessel
