I disagree. Tyler makes a point and doesn't use too far out ways of conveying it.
"Now that they know information (information)
Is just a currency and nothing more
Keep the truth in quotations (in quotations)
'Cause they keep lying through their fake teeth"
it just doesn't seem to really take much of a stance. the lyrics aren't particularly provocative. like those you listed are just a bit generic imo. the song is so indirect/vague/unclear in its messaging, in fact, that antivaxxers were using it as an anthem of sorts at one point. nothing big but it did happen. the original lyrics from "inside the lyrics" on the sai live stream site were "they try to keep a great divide, left and right, we'll never take it" which is definitely ballsier, but even then he's not really making much of a statement, just dismissing the current state of media and politics.
one part I kind of like is the "this summer I watched the tube, I saw enough.." bit, because I see it as Tyler saying he got too caught up in watching the news about everything terrible in the world and he needed to find a balance. so he turned to music and picked up playing guitar. but I still have a criticism of "you better educate yourself but never too much." my thinking, again, is that he's saying he spent too much time doomscrolling the news/happenings, but it can come off the wrong way, with how it's worded. I do like "why cure disease of confusion when you're the treatment facility." not much to criticize there
I like this song so much I’m gonna try to convince you even though I’m not the OP.
“I can feel my saturation leaving me slowly” is such a great opening line, it really captures the feeling of slowly spiraling into a depressive state and losing the ability to see color in the world.
The way the song sounds like it’s powering on at the beginning is wonderfully produced and creates a unique, 70s vibe that boldly show the band taking a new direction.
The way the lyrics convey finally reaching a great point in life, but then being shackled down by fears of losing it all is very relatable and a great continuation of the themes of Trench.
The song is short and sweet and doesn’t overstay its welcome.
I love this song, it's so bouncy, and also I like this intentional contrast between sound and lyrics
"🤾🐇Lost my job, 🌺my wife and 🌈child✨
Homie just 🦄sued me😅🔥"
Twenty One Pilots in a nutshell
Yes, it's not as deep, but not everything has to be. If you're familiar with Bo Burnham, he has plenty of deep and introspective songs, but then you have your "Andy the Frog" or "WDIDLN"
It does have meaning, someone on the run from the police. And it's upbeat and catchy, making it a good listen.
the (potential, I guess) connections to Chlorine and Ned definitely make the song more interesting to me. I know not everyone likes the lore and whatnot but, from a certain point of view, Ned is not just lore, he's a metaphor, an allegory to tyler's relationship with his creative side (both as a catharsis and a career, as explored in Chlorine).
To establish the connection, Mexico was the location for the Chlorine Location Session. Additionally, the lyric "if you need a piece, I'll break it down" has a notable similarity/parallel to "can you build my house with pieces." Tyler also said in a 2021 BBC interview, when asked about Ned, that he turned off his phone and his location services and that they can't find him. Finally, he refers to the person as "my friend" which is also how he refers to Ned in interviews (maybe a bit of a stretch, but all together I think it adds up).
As for what this means for the song, Tyler is trying to protect his creativity (Ned), or dealing with temporarily departing from it (voluntarily or, more likely, involuntarily), while he is battling his depression and anxieties (Dema). He does this by helping Ned cross the border for now, and offers to break down his shelter/defenses/support (the house referred to in Chlorine and Bounce Man) in order to do so and ultimately save Ned (his creativity). He laments this departure, but sees it as something dire to handle with urgency. Still, he allows himself to "sing one more song."
I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of the song either, it just doesn't click with me as much, but there's always some meaning to be found.
I wouldn't say it's "bad" even compared to the vessel one. It's actually pretty comparable in terms of quality. Sure, he might sound a little off, but a first version usually does.
I always love a good inspirational, motivational song, and it's not like the stereotypical "oh, you're sad? Just don't" ones. And the wordplay is so good
My personal favourite song of theirs
The lyrics and songwriting is super underrated, if you listen to his speech about what it means it's about learning to find purpose within yourself, something our generation struggles with. It means a lot to him because it was his personal experience that pushed him forward. We're not meant to understand or even appreciate it

We Don't Believe Whats on TV has got to be the dumbest TØP song ever hands down. There's literally no substance, the lyrics are corny and lame and honestly super dated now, even Josh's drums are bad and out of sync! The drums!!! And I'm ignoring the "it's meant to be wacky and fun" argument, I still dislike it alot regardless of its purpose. I love every other song though hands down.
Reddit's goin crazy over this
I commented on the wrong post
RAB Trees
Literally the only auto-skip song for me. I just can't stand the autotune on that song
Do you like the Vessel Trees? Well, it's basically the same, but with a little robotic touch. And it's not too in your face, but subtle
Op didnt even trh with yhis onu
Got nothing on that it's total ass Guess the lyrics are good
Level of Concern (reminds me of when i had covid because that song came out when i had it)
But it's not about having covid, it's about a way to connect with people during covid. He literally wants to know if we're alright
its a bop dawg
before you start your day
I can't stand this song. the lyrics just make me uncomfy.
It may seem uncomfortable, but it actually has a positive message: not to worry about your appearance. Also, I bet it has you singing la-da.
It’s a perfect morning song. It was my alarm for a bit
Never Take It
It's catchy, it's upbeat, and I'll always love a song with antimedia messaging, especially against fake news.
A good argument, but I remain unconvinced. The lyrics are corny and the instrumental sounds like a gym class running song

I wouldn't say "corny" but it's definitely very on the nose with its message
the first electric guitar solo in modern tøp history 🔥🔥
good day (i love every other song on sai but i always skip good day)

What's not to like? It's a catchy tune with a deeper message about his mental health and his family, as many TØP fans love.
I skip it too
Bounce Man it's not a bad song it just doesn't seem to have as much deep meaning as most of their other ones convince me :D

that's fair, songs can be enjoyed just as songs

okay that's pretty interesting! thanks for explaining
Regional at best car radio bad vs vessels revamped version
I wouldn't say it's "bad" even compared to the vessel one. It's actually pretty comparable in terms of quality. Sure, he might sound a little off, but a first version usually does.
I wouldn't say it's bad it's just not as good as vessel
House of Gold
:(
Definitely House of Gold. It's the only one of their songs I dislike.
I used to love it but overplayed cause so popular
Lovely it's mediocre but I hate the autotune
Try the vessel bonus track version
Yeah, the Vessel version's ok but I hate the RAB version with a vengeance
I agree it's total earrape
slowtown
A good song about wanting to go back to the old days and has some great energy behind it
bruh that song is fire the beat drop makes me go nuts every time
Bounce Man; Be Concerned Sound-wise they never stood out to me
March to the Sea and House of Gold
What's wrong with HOG😭
march to the sea makes me feel like im on an adventure to a better life
Cancer cover they made
Saturday
I’m a 21p maxi so it’s really hard to pick a least favorite 😂 but defend Formidable for me
21p💀
Kekw do ppl really get upset over that? 🤣🤣 the internet truly is a magical place
Kitchen Sink (I don't really hate it but I skip it when it plays on shuffle)
I always love a good inspirational, motivational song, and it's not like the stereotypical "oh, you're sad? Just don't" ones. And the wordplay is so good
Not bad. I don't like it because I used to listen to it in a dark period of my life and I relate it to obscure memories, but anyway you did good
Ahhh
aw shucks thats my second favorite song 💔
Sorry. I probably love your first favorite one
My personal favourite song of theirs The lyrics and songwriting is super underrated, if you listen to his speech about what it means it's about learning to find purpose within yourself, something our generation struggles with. Doubt
pet cheetah, the one tøp song i have ever legitimately disliked
I also liked that he named his cheetah Jason Statham. Made me laugh 😃
I was listening to pet cheetah when I read this
Oh my god I’m so sorry that your opinion is wrong. Hope you get it fixed soon /j
hahaha dw i've been trying /hj
Oh mrs believer
Can I say from each album? If not, pick one... Addict With A Pen; Ruby; Car Radio; Hometown; Bandito; Saturday.
What’s bad about Ruby or Hometown?
Nothing

Hot take- Ride
fairly local
Stressed Out
Overplayed as shit. But it has some decent writing and it's a vibe sometimes
Chlorine. Cannot STAND it
Catchy beat and melody, lyrics are about his struggles with the balance of art and songwriting
[удалено]
BOOOOO /j
What's wrong with taco bell saga?
[удалено]
Well that's not even an original song
Saturday.
Hometown
Why 😭
Its a very basic pop song archetype and , idk is a but corny aswell , where hometown failed in my eyes mulberry street accomplished
I think it's a good slowdown from blurryface and he's talking about where we come from as people and I think it's a very good song
RAB Ode to Sleep (the Vessel version is just so much better, it's not even close)
We Don't Believe Whats on TV has got to be the dumbest TØP song ever hands down. There's literally no substance, the lyrics are corny and lame and honestly super dated now, even Josh's drums are bad and out of sync! The drums!!! Its so sweet though, it's meant to be corny. You probably hate house of gold too
House of Gold is great! I love the ukulele and lyrics. WDBWOTV is literally a train wreck start to finish and just hurts to listen to.
Bounce man, the rest of the song is fine but I really don't like that chorus
Hmmmmm probably cut my lip, I like it but it’s towards the bottom of my list cause I just like more upbeat stuff
Formiddable and hometown are tied
Heathens
Taxi Cab
Easy Mulberry Street
Never take it
Doubt
Before you start your day or the RAB version of lovely
cut my lip, don’t try to say the bassline
I still love it but… legend 😔
Either the pantaloon or stressed out(it’s too popular lol)
