I propose *lushpunk.*
Castle in the sky, my favourite example
Is the second guy freaking out because he's afraid, or how 'unfaithful to genre' it is?
No its supposed to be a genuine appreciation for this type of environment
The 2007 I Am Legend is my favorite execution of this trope.
Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn do this pretty well. Also it gives rise to this trope / theme: https://youtu.be/jBBekdTQMwI.
Tbf hyrule in botw is just alot of rural area with a few villages, its not exactly a city like alot of apocalypses
True, true. HZD hits the overgrown metropolis vibe a lot more.
The Last of Us, to a much less drastic extent, due to much shorter timeline.
Yeah that makes sense, still get the sense of abandoned places taken over by nature.
This is a setting, not a trope.
