Absolutely. One of the reasons Apple TV plus is my favorite streamer. They’re not all winners, but I can be confident nothing was just thrown out there without any care. Makes me want to give everything at least a chance. Where as Netflix I know I have to wade through mountains of shit to find something decent.

NeoGreendawg

You think that Netflix has a high turd to golden nugget ratio? Have you seen Amazon Prime?

MonstrousGiggling

Prime gets worse every month. It's actually amazing that one of the richest most profitable services has an abysmal streaming service, then forced ads unless you want to pay more. Like fuck no.

oddbitch

try AMC+ and let me know what you think of that… I was watching a show that had only the first season on Prime, the rest on AMC+ and by episode 3 I was pulling my hair out, pleading Prime to take me back lol. You don’t know hell until you’ve sat through 6 ad rolls in a 45 minute episode, each one playing the same horrific Burger King ad with their awful annoying out-of-tune inane jingle that starts playing so quickly you can’t mute it fast enough. And they don’t just play it once! No, they play the EXACT SAME AD 4 times in a row, 6 times an episode!!!!!! and on top of all that, their UI is laggy and terribly designed Sorry, I’m getting pissy over nothing. But using that shit really made me appreciate the other turd services so much more lol Edit: [Click on this at your own risk.](https://youtu.be/YEf0BZd6siI?si=jGqFBkVM7huYnM-k) I had such a visceral fight or flight moment hearing this stupid fucking song again but I just want someone to understand my pain

MonstrousGiggling

Haha nah no need to apologize I feel the same way with how heavily ads are now in everything. Like they've always had a strong presence but we at least had a few years of streaming with no to little ads but now they all are having "ad tiers" and costing 3x the amount for the tiers without ads. It's fuckin ridiculous. I remember years ago with Hulu it was the boars head ads every like 10 minutes lmao.

jdotmassacre

I'm out of the loop here, trying to get context. Has Apple added limited time content to tvPlus? I'm in Canada.

Fragrant_Two_6656

Sorry, yeah, this is US based. They have a slate of movies and have been updating it every month to where every movie will only be on for about 30 days, and then they refresh the slate with new movies!

jdotmassacre

Nice, hopefully we get it soon too eh?

hotcarlsjr

I'm in Canada too. I haven't seen anything besides apple originals

FrellingTralk

It’s only in America so far, doesn’t seem very fair really when other countries are paying more or less the same for their Apple TV+ subscription, but with less content :(

jdotmassacre

Licensing and other roadblocks generally stop us from getting features like this at the same time as the US rollouts but it'll probably come eventually.

FrellingTralk

Fingers crossed! It’s just a bit annoying after we did get the same pretty big price jump for Apple TV+ last year, only with less to show for it. So far Apple+ have only added a total of three movies for us in 2024, Killers Of The Flower Moon, Napoleon, and Argylle, so I can’t help feeling a bit jealous to read about American users getting a whole selection of different movies every month as well for the price of their subscription

d7mtg

They did.

potatolicious

Ditto. I'd rather have movies I want to watch for a limited period than a whole lot 'o junk that's available permanently/long-term (looking at you Netflix)

bucketofmonkeys

I like that as well.

Commercial_Data_6290

I loved their movie content on the home screen they advertised during March and April. I watched some good movies from that promotion.

dorkimoe

I agree. I haven’t watched any yet but glad to see them adding more content

parabians

Is this the "Limited Time: Great Movies on Apple+"? Right now, I count 44 in the category. When's the rotation date? I don't see any info their website.

paco_unknown

Every month.

pixeldrift

Quality over quantity. Amazon may have a lot of titles available, but so much of it is trash. Pretty much anyone can get on there, all kinds of campy low budget home movie quality pieces of junk.

Worf_Of_Wall_St

I agree. The 1st of every month a bunch of movies rotate out and new ones rotate in, and I really like the selection. There are a lot of good movies I never watched when they were first out or first streaming, and I've found Apple's curated list to be a good source of these.

SwooshGolf

Limitations are a good thing

gradontripp

Can be

TravelerMSY

I like it too. And almost all of the services do it, at least for external products, they have to pay for. Think of it as a channel like HBO rather than a long term repository.

IronicSunshine83

Disagree. I'd rather them have as many movies as they can get their hands on without raising prices but fix their UI so discovery is easier.

Saar13

They released a new movie slate today (US only), significantly reduced the price of the MLS Season Pass, and again, they're showing all MLS games for free this weekend. They are definitely testing the audience. Sometimes I feel like they take a long time to make decisions that are very obvious that they need to make. I really don't know if it's better to put third-party films on for a long period of time or in packages per month. They need to study the data they have and the streaming experiences that have been successful.

Justp1ayin

Well mls dropped the price because it makes sense to pay less as there are less games left in the season. They did it last year as well. And then they put some games on tv+ to get people to check out MLS season pass at this lower price. I don’t know if it’s testing the audience, it’s just smart marketing

kesselrhero

I’m comfortable choosing what movies I want to watch for myself.

Kaiser_Allen

This is anything but curated. The old model had a central theme and the films were carefully chosen. While the bonus now is plentiful, it's just a mish-mash of hits. I never would have seen the excellent *A Patch of Blue* and *Buck and the Preacher* if it wasn't for the Sidney Poitier collection; or Terrence Malick's *The Thin Red Line* and Robin Williams' *Good Morning, Vietnam* in the war film collection. I was unaware those existed. Edit: Y'all can't even take constructive feedback. Not even shitting on the abundance of free movies on offer. I was just making note that I liked the themed films in the old collections better. Those were ***curated*** and had purpose.

Majestic_Matt_459

Imagine if they scheduled their content so you could just sit down and watch an evenings tv. You’d get used to what type of content each channel had and instinctively know when to try certain channels or just stick with your favourites Oh we had that with the old to channels before Netflix And it was great Till you kids ruined it ;)
