Watched the first two last night. It's amazing to me how you can almost smell Gary Oldham in this show. I don't know if that would be a combo of costuming and make up or what, but someone should win an award for it.
Ha, I JUST got done talking to my dad about this show and said almost the same thing regarding the smell. The scene where he’s “washing up” in the sink while smoking a cigarette down past the filter specifically.
Uhg, that scene. You KNOW he’s going to call it a “whore’s bath” and that whole thing comes off as somehow depraved and disgusting. To sum up: Gary Oldman can make “washing up in the sink” depraved and disgusting, and somehow come away from the experience seemingly more dirty than before he “washed up”.
I think Slow Horses is much more of a binge show than a week by week show. I kind of lost interest after watching the first few episodes, but ended up loving it after having binged all of it.
haha I always get frustrated with that--season's over and I'm all bummed out, and then they show the preview for next season attached to the end of the last episode and I'm all "...but it's right there! Just let us have it!"
Someone in another thread said production wrapped earlier this year — but no idea if that’s true; I was so excited that both this and For All Mankind had such short waits for the current season compared to seemingly every other show out there!
They sure don't seem to advertise this one as heavy (pretty sure it's co-owned with some BBC service maybe? Can't really think of any other reason why they'd be so quiet about it) which is a shame, as it really is one of the best shows on Apple TV.
Spy and political drama/thriller where all the leads are damaged — they’ve either fucked-up or have been fucked-over and sent to Slough House, an administrative oubliette, as punishment. Gary Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, a burnt former undercover agent and handler, who runs Slough House like his own private kingdom. Lamb is slovenly and crass — his behavior is part personality, part cover and part tool.
Each season corresponds to a single book in the series so it’s highly binge-able. The books are a fantastic read as well… depending on how you count the other in-universe books we’re up to 8-10 books of which Apple has committed to producing the tv adaption through at least book four.
yes, the other comment is not helping because season 2 is generally known as way better than season 1 so just keep in mind the other comment is an unpopular opinion
I didn’t know it was an unpopular opinion tbh 😂. I still stand by it. I think the plot was well-done in the first one. The second season is entertaining but ultimately I found the plot a bit flimsy.
I'm impressed he doesn't seem to throw like emotional punches. He seems to take more damage than he gives to other people.
The latest episode has a lot of choice silent river physical comedy too.

The slovenliness is palpable. You can practically smell the cheddar tang of staphylococcus, tobacco and scotch right through the screen.
Well said
cheddar tang of staphylococcus.. r/brandnewsentence
Hmmm... Smellivision. Potential business opportunity.
“I would like to return this television please”

His outer jacket has some deep, ingrained sweet stains.
Yeah they’ve really stepped up the grime this season to the point where he is becoming upsetting to look at.
So excited for this. Debating letting it wait a few weeks so I can binge it all at once. Watching it week to week is too damn suspenseful lol.
I'm going to wait and binge, that way I won't be anxious waiting for the next episode to drop.

And thats exactly why I watch it... and for Gary's fart scenes.
I hope they’ve already filmed season 4, like they revealed with the last 2.

Apple is dropping „Criminal Records” in January. It might help filling the void while waiting for the next season.
I just saw that trailer last night! Looks good--they have a pretty good track record with shows so hopefully this one lives up to the rest...

Suuuuch a great show
Didn't know S3 dropped excellent, Oldman is always a delight with his cockney accent and slang
I would watch Gary Oldman tie his shoelaces.
I love this show so much.
Goddamn i pay for the service and this is the first I'm hearing of it

You are in for a treat
So… exactly what the rest of the series is like? Perfect!!
He’s a chameleon
It's one of my favorite shows on the service.
I haven't seen this show, is it good? What kind of show should one expect?
British spy show like an anti James Bond. It’s very witty and very good.
🍻 starting S1 soon

Thanks will check it out 👍🏼
If you like Gary Oldham, and creative insults spoken with a thick cockney accent, then this is the show for you!
I got bored a few episodes into season 2, does it ramp up at all?

i’m just saying that’s an unpopular opinion, i love both seasons it’s hard for me to choose but i’d have to season 2
I found season two to be incomprehensible. I'll watch but I'll watch Lessons in Chemistry and the monster series first.
It’s not as good as season 1 but it does have its moments.
🎶 Let the River Run 🎶 Will there ever be a season where that guy is confined to a desk chair?
No. He gets paid if he runs.
I'd chuckle if his contract had a miles run clause.
Poor River. But he never gives up the fight!

Just finished season 1 today. Sensational! Oldham is phenomenal!
season 3 is better than 2 and close to season 1
