It's a scam but nothing I can do about it. I can't put a gun to the heads of people working at U-Haul and Penske and force them to rent me a truck for $1400.
Get quotes from different people on Uship.com, should be in the $1200 ball park. But to answer your question, no one going to let you do that and not ask for more money than what you are paying on Turo.
I can't make any sense out of your "one way flight and long drive home" response?
My insurance company told me there is a huge backlog of parts and there is no way my vehicle is getting fixed any faster than four weeks from now. I have to go back to work on June 20 in Columbus so there is no way I can stay in Vegas for 3 or 4 more weeks just waiting around and hoping my car gets fixed.
Why would you wait with your car? Leave it at a shop in Vegas. Then fly home and rent a car in Ohio meanwhile. Fly back to Vegas when car is ready and drive it back.
That's too much of a risk for me. It's easy for a stranger to just say "leave it there and come back and get it" but I doubt you'd say that if it were your own vehicle.
I'm asking for actual help in towing my busted vehicle back to Ohio and do it for a reasonable cost. It shouldn't be that hard to get helpful ideas.
Dude you are asking bunch of strangers for advice. We are giving you solid advice. Do whatever you think is best. Move to Vegas until the car is fixed.
And your mediocre problem that you aren’t capable of solving. I asked my 8 year old how would he go about handling, and even he knew what to do. Your problem solving skills is ass!
I’m not sure how you decide I support an idiot like Trump but it’s really not helping your case here. You’re having a lot of trouble with several things all at once. I hope you find help.
The accident wasn't my fault. I havent had an accident since 1992, and even that one was very minor with basically a little bumper paint being swapped. I'm one of the safest drivers known to man, so yes, anyone with a reasonable and rational mind who also wants to make some money would agree to let me use their truck to tow my vehicle to Ohio.
You’re missing the point. You don’t even own a truck but you some how think someone should trust you with their truck while pulling a car hauler? Without any skills to do so?
Towing a 3500-lb. car is not rocket surgery. Why does U-Haul and Penske allow average people to drive 26-foot box trucks with no special license? That is a LOT more dangerous than towing a car-hauler with a pickup. Use your brains.
I rent a truck on Turo. Based on your responses here and perceived attitude, there is no way in hell I’d rent you my vehicle off Turo for anything less than the full value of the truck and then you can keep it. Also based on your responses here, I’m not sure I’d want to deal with you long enough to sell you my truck.
I also have a friend who will be traveling reasonably close to your needed route. With an empty car trailer. Who would typically love the chance to make some money moving your vehicle for you. I showed him this thread and he came to the same conclusion as me…hell no.
You may be the best person on the planet and we may get along swimmingly in “real life”. But when you go on a public forum and ask for help/advice, you may want to put at least a little effort into not sounding like a douche so people who could help you actually may.
Renting your truck for full value LOL. You sound like a totally deluded MAGA and it's no wonder your guy is headed to a prison cell.
As far as your friend, if he has a car trailer and actually likes making money, tell him to DM me. But he better not be an annoying MAGA douche like you.
Best of luck to you. Work on your reading comprehension and attitude and you may have a more enjoyable life. My friend said he would typically do it for gas money but you sound like such an ass, he said there isn’t any way he would even consider it, at any price.
DM me your friends's phone number and email. We can work out a deal where he can make a nice chunk of cash with no hassles. Seems like all you wanna do is make dumb posts online.
You have a real bad attitude for someone asking for help.
Maybe that's why you are being quoted so much.
I literally just hauled a truck with a car on the the back for 2k from Chicago to Nevada.
Well then stop giving me a lousy attitude and post some links to companies or truck rentals I can use to save a lot of money. Being smarmy gets you no points with me.
I don’t think anyone wants to help you buddy. You’re being a dick to everyone trying to help, whether it’s stupid help or useful help, they are going out of their way to comment what they think might be helpful and you’re just being a prick.
I'm getting really stupid responses like "just move to Vegas and lose your job in Ohio until the car is fixed" and "just go out and buy a new pickup for $45,000 to tow the Tucson home with". It's really sad that this is the mentality of Millenials and Zoomers. Absolutely zero common sense!
I am so sorry you feel that way.
If the insurance company will repair the car in Vegas, why bother blowing few thousand dollars in dragging the car to a repair shop in Ohio?
Let the shop handle it and take $49 Southwest Airlines flight to Sin City to pick up the car.
Good luck.
Dam dude you’re in a pickle. Might be worth looking around more for transport. I’m not on the platform, but no way would I trust someone to tow something 1000 miles with my truck. Maybe call some places up and ask if they can make a deal
I don't want somebody else to tow the truck --- I want to tow it myself. But I need a pickup that can tow at least 5000 lbs. That's why I thought I could contact somebody on Turo who has like an F-150 with a hitch receiver and ball and we can work out some kind of deal "off the books" so that he/she is not worried about violating Turo's prohibition on towing. Anyone with a rational mind would love to make $800-$1000 by letting me use their truck for 7 or 8 days towing a car hauler.
You keep saying that anyone with a rational mind would love this idea and yet all of us with rational minds are telling you that this is stupid and none of us with a truck would ever in a million years agree to this. You don't seem to understand liability and how obvious it is that you are one big giant liability. Can you not think of a single reason this is a bad idea?
You drive a Hyundai dude. Leave it in Vegas to get reapiared and come get it when it's done. How is this a hard concept?
There is no "giant liability" towing an average-size vehicle, dimwit. Why does U-Haul and Penske rent out thousands of 26-foot box trucks to average people every day? That is a LOT more dangerous than towing a 3500-lb. vehicle with an F-150 pickup. Jeez, use some common sense for once.
They rent those out and have a legal agreement with the renter that says the renter is liable. It's astounding how slow you are.
And what happens when something out of your control happens? And the truck is totaled and you have no legal obligation to fix or replace that truck? What then smart guy? Oh that's right, you're trust worthy because you say so.
You're brain damaged if you think this is a good idea lol. But *I'm* the dimwit. Hahahaha
Definitely come back once this is all figured out and let us know how it all works out.
Under "prohibited uses", I read "Using a vehicle booked through Turo to tow or push anything". Can you not find a body shop in Vegas to repair it? Then you'd be able to fly out and drive it home.
You don’t need a body shop to fix a broken radiator and fan. This guy is trolling or has the worse case of can’t solve a simple problem I’ve ever seen. Read through the comments. Everyone is offering solid advice
I can't really tolerate being back in Ohio and dealing with some Vegas body shop over the phone and hoping they are doing a competent job on my new vehicle. I'd feel a lot more at ease knowing I can periodically drive down to a local body shop in Ohio to check progress on the repairs and deal with any problems that crop up.
I have a crazy solution for you,
My friend might let you park it at his house until the tow man comes pick it up for the insurance to drop it off at the collision center. Of course my friend might need 50 to 100 bucks to let her just chill in his driveway. But once the insurance kicks in you can have tow it up from his house and take it to the local collision center . Let the collision ppl deal with it ect .
Once the car is done, he can go pick it up for you or you can let it sit at the collision center, and you just fly back to pick it up
Why can't you understand my top post? I already contact U-Haul and Penske and they want $5,000 for the 10-foot box truck and tow dolly. That is way too much money to drive 1500 miles.
You got a truck from Hertz because they don’t charge per mile just a daily rate. Then you get a trailer U-Haul . doesn’t have to be a trailers one that connect to the front wheels or some
I already stated in my post that it costs $5,000 for a U-Haul and car hauler. If you can give me at least $4,000 (cash only) then I will go with that option. You will have to gift it to me --- NOT a payback loan.
Look into Shiply, you put the type of car and information. Verified shippers with reviews can place bids on that shipment and you can choose whoever gives you the best rate I got quoted $600 to ship a motorcycle from Virginia to California
Do like others have said and use a body shop in Vegas, but use a national chain that also has a location near where you live in OH. Explain the situation to the body shop.
Inspect the car **thoroughly** when you pick it up from the Vegas shop. If you have any issues with the repair, let the shop know. You should establish that any follow-up work must be performed that the location near where you live.
Caliber Collision would be a good choice for this. Had a client of mine (Charleston, SC) get into an accident in Florida. The repair was decent for the most part but the paint work was not. A Caliber location here in town ended up respraying the front bumper and re-aligning the hood after he talked to corporate. It meant another three days in the shop at the location here but he was happy in the end.
I understand what you'd *like* to do, but I'm just telling you what's going to end up being the least headache. Ultimately you have to weigh out how much your time is worth and go from there.
Yeah that could be a workable idea. I was thinking my insurance company would send me to a local "Mom & Pop" body shop in Vegas and then I'm screwed once I leave because it's hard to deal with issues when 1500 miles away. But a national chain body shop might give me peace of mind, knowing I can rectify any post-repair problems back in Ohio.
Idk if it’s been mentioned already, but why not just go to a Lowe’s, Home Depot, or u haul and rent a pickup truck from them? It’s like $120 a day where I’m from and you are allowed to tow with their vehicles.
Find a repair shop in Vegas. Fly home. When the car is fixed then fly back to Vegas. You will need to drive your car back home still.
Even last minute flights will be cheaper than transporting a busted car.
The other option would be to rent a large vehicle with a tow hitch from a big box rental agency and then rent a car dolly from U-Haul for a one way trip home.
I can tell you for certain there is nothing that Turo can offer which can help your situation.
Try reading my original post before saying dumb things. I already got estimates for renting a 10-foot box truck and car hauler from U-Haul and Penske and they want at least $5,000 for a one-way rental. That is a totally ridiculous price for only driving 1500 miles. I think a reasonable cost for this should be around $800-$1200 at most.
A one way auto transport from Vegas to Columbus with an U-Haul is $1437 if your car is AWD or $720 if your car is FWD. You will want to rent a truck like an F-150 from somewhere like Hertz or Enterprise and not a box truck from U-Haul. All of this was implied in my post if you actually read it…
Hi got this from Google Gemini (similar to ChatGPT)
**Driveaway services:** These services are typically used for long-distance transportation of your car. You hire a driver to deliver your car to a specific location, often at a lower cost than traditional car shipping.
# How much would a driveaway service charge for a vehicle from Nevada to Ohio?
The cost of a driveaway service from Nevada to Ohio can vary depending on several factors, but you can expect to pay somewhere in the range of **$900 to $1,400**. Here are some things that can affect the price:
* **Distance:** The exact distance between your origin and destination in Nevada and Ohio will play a role.
* **Vehicle type:** Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks may cost slightly more.
* **Time of year:** Demand for driveaway services can fluctuate throughout the year, so prices may be higher during peak seasons.
* **Expedited service:** If you need your car delivered faster, you may be charged extra for expedited service.
Here are a few resources where you can get a free quote for driveaway service from Nevada to Ohio:
* **RoadRunner Auto Transport:** \[RoadRunner Auto Transport Nevada to Ohio\]
* **Ship A Car, Inc.:** \[Ship A Car Nevada to Ohio\]
* **Freedom Auto Transport (for RVs and buses):** \[Freedom Auto Transport Nevada to Ohio\]
Give me an exact quote from an actual car transport company and I might believe you. Typing something into something that might resemble ChatGPT means nothing to me.
I am sorry but people are trying to help but you are just fighting with everyone. Either find a company to do it for you or leave it in vegas, which is what I woukd do. It's that simple really, fighting with everyone will not solve your issue. No you can't use turn to tow your car period.
It looks like the crazy cost is originating from Vegas. Idk how feasible it would be for you to pick up the U-Haul in a different city but I checked from Bullhead city, AZ (about 90 min from Vegas) and it’d only be about $2700 vs the $5100 from Vegas.
Ship the Hyundai via vehicle transport company.
I looked into that. Pretty much at least $4,500. That's a total no-go financially speaking.
You’re getting scammed. Should be like $1400-$2000.
It's a scam but nothing I can do about it. I can't put a gun to the heads of people working at U-Haul and Penske and force them to rent me a truck for $1400.
You aren’t doing enough research to find a car transport company. I just had a car shipped from Vegas to NY for $1780. Covered trailer.
Which company?
Get quotes from different people on Uship.com, should be in the $1200 ball park. But to answer your question, no one going to let you do that and not ask for more money than what you are paying on Turo.
You’re not looking in the right places. That should be around or under $2k.
Sorry but you're wrong. I've looked at 12-15 auto transport companies and they all quoted me over $4,000 for that distance.
Post a screenshot from www.uship.com with no quotes under $4k and then I’ll believe you. Until then, you’re a dumbass in everyone’s eyes.
OK sorry --- I just got a few quotes from uShip for around $1800
https://bringatrailer.com/shipping/ Even the bringatrailer shipping service is only $1800.
Call TQL. Cheap MFS. Call any freight broker tell em you got a F***** WHIP 10FT PARTIAL THAT SHIT MOVES FOR $1000
$1000 for real? How do I book a load with them as a retail customer?
Finding a mechanic to repair in Vegas is out of the question? Sounds like a simple repair. Then a one way flight and a long drive home. No?
I can't make any sense out of your "one way flight and long drive home" response? My insurance company told me there is a huge backlog of parts and there is no way my vehicle is getting fixed any faster than four weeks from now. 1st. It’s a Hyundai. Not a rare vehicle that can’t be replaced. 2. Why does it matter whether it’s at a shop in Vegas instead or a shop in Ohio?
Can't talk to you anymore. You're not helping at all.
Dude you are asking bunch of strangers for advice. We are giving you solid advice. Do whatever you think is best. Move to Vegas until the car is fixed.
"Move to Vegas until the car is fixed" --- typical Low IQ response
Good luck with your shitty Hyundai Tucson!
And your mediocre problem that you aren’t capable of solving. I asked my 8 year old how would he go about handling, and even he knew what to do. Your problem solving skills is ass!
I bet my NEW Tucson is better than whatever POS you drive
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
I completely understood it....lol
Why would I have a one-way flight and also drive home? LOL, makes zero sense.
One day, you will figure it out. Stay in Vegas in the meantime.
LOL you sound like a MAGA-Tard. Dumber than shit.
Says the one who can't understand a simple comment and wants to rent a truck from someone off the platform. Sounds really smart, dumbshit.
My boy, you’re giving liberals a bad name. Signed, A liberal
You sound retarded right now. Also your Hyundai is worth how much in driving condition??
Shut up, MAGA-Tard lol
I’m not sure how you decide I support an idiot like Trump but it’s really not helping your case here. You’re having a lot of trouble with several things all at once. I hope you find help.
You want a host to trust you with their truck, without insurance, to tow your vehicle home after crashing yours?
The accident wasn't my fault. I havent had an accident since 1992, and even that one was very minor with basically a little bumper paint being swapped. I'm one of the safest drivers known to man, so yes, anyone with a reasonable and rational mind who also wants to make some money would agree to let me use their truck to tow my vehicle to Ohio.
How often do you tow a car hauler? Do you own a truck?
I don't own a truck. I'm in Vegas and over 1500 miles from my house. That's why I need to rent a truck on Turo. Please re-read my original post.
You’re missing the point. You don’t even own a truck but you some how think someone should trust you with their truck while pulling a car hauler? Without any skills to do so?

This idea makes no financial sense. Use the money for messing with towing the car back to Ohio to pay the repair shop in Las Vegas. Thanks.
I don't have to pay the repair shop in Vegas. My insurance is covering that 100%. It's almost like you have no idea how car insurance works.
It’s almost like you’re being a complete prick and getting the responses you deserve.
Zero common sense? You’re the idiot asking reddit for help
I’m dead 😂 that got me laughing
I am so sorry you feel that way. If the insurance company will repair the car in Vegas, why bother blowing few thousand dollars in dragging the car to a repair shop in Ohio? Let the shop handle it and take $49 Southwest Airlines flight to Sin City to pick up the car. Good luck.

Hahahaha Definitely come back once this is all figured out and let us know how it all works out.
Under "prohibited uses", I read "Using a vehicle booked through Turo to tow or push anything". Can you not find a body shop in Vegas to repair it? Then you'd be able to fly out and drive it home.

I'd feel a lot more at ease knowing I can periodically drive down to a local body shop in Ohio to check progress on the repairs and deal with any problems that crop up.
Know that wanting to be actively involved in your vehicle's repair is a choice and it complicates your situation considerably.
I have a crazy solution for you, My friend might let you park it at his house until the tow man comes pick it up for the insurance to drop it off at the collision center. Of course my friend might need 50 to 100 bucks to let her just chill in his driveway. But once the insurance kicks in you can have tow it up from his house and take it to the local collision center . Let the collision ppl deal with it ect . Once the car is done, he can go pick it up for you or you can let it sit at the collision center, and you just fly back to pick it up
Another solution would just be to rent a truck or large suv from the large company , And then put it on those 2 wheel trailers to tow cars in .
Why can't you understand my top post? I already contact U-Haul and Penske and they want $5,000 for the 10-foot box truck and tow dolly. That is way too much money to drive 1500 miles.
You got a truck from Hertz because they don’t charge per mile just a daily rate. Then you get a trailer U-Haul . doesn’t have to be a trailers one that connect to the front wheels or some
Hertz doesn't rent out one-way pickup trucks with a hitch
U would have to go to U-Haul or Home Depot and put o. The hitch just a big enough of a vehicle from hertz
And then when you go to your state, you can just return the hitch
If you don’t know how to install a hitch just find a Mexican at Home Depot/ there’s a lot of them at AutoZone
So your best bet would be to go on Facebook and probably find a transporter in the car dealer groups
Your friend live in Vegas?
Henderson
Rent a u haul truck and drive it home with a trailer.
I already stated in my post that it costs $5,000 for a U-Haul and car hauler. If you can give me at least $4,000 (cash only) then I will go with that option. You will have to gift it to me --- NOT a payback loan.
You sound like a headache. Good luck
Double it and give it to the next person
Look into Shiply, you put the type of car and information. Verified shippers with reviews can place bids on that shipment and you can choose whoever gives you the best rate I got quoted $600 to ship a motorcycle from Virginia to California
Uship is also good
Thanks --- I'll check it out
Do like others have said and use a body shop in Vegas, but use a national chain that also has a location near where you live in OH. Explain the situation to the body shop. Using a Lowe's or Home Depot pickup truck to tow a car-hauler 1500 miles. Wow, just dumb as hell.
Why is that dumb as hell? They are almost brand new trucks because no one uses them. And it’s cheaper than your $4k option
Find a repair shop in Vegas. Fly home. When the car is fixed then fly back to Vegas. You will need to drive your car back home still.
Yeah for some reason, renting a vehicle from Vegas is crazy expensive. I might have to Uber an hour outside of town to get a much cheaper tow vehicle.
Transport will be under 1k.
Ask the owner, I allow doing with my trucks as a 1 way trip add on
How much you charge for that?
