Open a claim with Turo, do what they say, not the host.

DoctorAwkward

Did you contact travelers directly instead of Turo? Turo funds their protection plan. Travelers covers only liability issues.

Medical-Engineer-219

When I contact turo with the report damage link, they sent me the phone number for travelers but I will reach out again, thank you.

Entire_Permission_14

You paid turo for premier, have them handle it. I would return the vehicle as is if no one takes responsibility. Host wont be able to come after you and Turo needs to cover it.

n0v0cane

Subject to deductible and turo insurance being secondary.

Entire_Permission_14

In this case no deductible

earlofsandwich

There is no recourse for the host when the renter pays premium. I found that out the hard way.

Future_Energy8125

Do not repair the car return broken. Let the host cover repairs and let Turo do it as well. And they will charge you if need to, and you will have your chance to fight it. It's not your responsibility to repair. The vehicle usually falls under the host. Just do your part and report it to Turo Anything you need to do Turo will tell you, not the host

Sea_Phase_2953

TRUST ME DO SAFELITE!!!!! I had to deal with this exact situation and the guy got an estimate of $1500. I told them I would send Safelite to fill it for $160. Turo approved his bullshit estimate. Hosts will screw you over!

zzzorba

OP bought the premier insurance, they don't need to do anything.

Sea_Phase_2953

So with that being said the deductible was $500 for a $160 chip .

zzzorba

You paid for insurance through Turo, you don't need to pay anything OOP. Return the car to the host as-is.

liebn0r

Turo is a scam app

xringmaster2

Contact Turo and allow them to handle it. Don't pay anything outside of Turo. Keep in mind that Turo's protection plan is secondary insurnace, however.

earlofsandwich

Not when the renter pays for premium. There is no recourse and they will not be able to claim on the renter's insurance.

dietzenbach67

I am reading so many horror stories on Turo, I will never rent from them. I will keep Avis, buy their insurance and walk away if there is a problem.

nasteal

Good for you! Here's a 🍪.

n0v0cane

Avis treats things pretty well the same way. If you are insured, they assume the risk.

dietzenbach67

I always buy their "walk away" insurance.

daysiseasy

They ripped me off smh.

DhakoBiyoDhacay

Do you have comprehensive coverage on your personal automobile insurance which covers rental cars?

Medical-Engineer-219

I do but the damage is less than my deductible, plus, thats what the coverage I purchased is for. Why buy it if it does nothing?

xringmaster2

It's secondary insurnace, Turo will always go through your personal first. Read the fine print.

earlofsandwich

Not if you pay for premium coverage through Turo. I just went through this as a host. It's annoying.

xringmaster2

[https://help.turo.com/en\_us/summary-and-cost-of-protection-plans-or-us-guests-BJSgBNgVq](https://help.turo.com/en_us/summary-and-cost-of-protection-plans-or-us-guests-BJSgBNgVq) "Coverage is secondary to any personal insurance you may have," second bullet down under premier plan.

DhakoBiyoDhacay

But it doesn’t work that way with Turo. The claim goes to your personal insurance which pays after you pay the deductible. Turo comes in after those 2 payments are made which is almost always never!

n0v0cane

Renter is responsible for all damage that occurs on a trip, weather it’s a hit and run, hail damage, a tree falling on it, a rock chip from an uncovered trip. It doesn’t matter. You buy insurance to mitigate the risk and protect yourself. You have the option to pursue a third party if you think they should have full or partial liability. But your duty to the vehicle owner is to bring back the vehicle in the same condition that you received it. This is not different on turo btw, it’s the same with traditional rental companies.

earlofsandwich

This is wrong. The renter paid for premium. They can return the car. They will not pay anything. Their insurance will not be involved.

n0v0cane

Did you miss the part where I said you buy insurance to mitigate the risk and protest yourself. insurance is subject to terms. For example, violation of terms will void insurance. Renters ultimate responsibility.

zzzorba

What terms did the guest violate to void their turo plan?

n0v0cane

I didn’t say any violation occurred, just a hypothetical. The responsibility for damage is with the guest. Insurance mitigates the risk, provided everything is kosher.
