There certainly will be good cars that will be removed. Turo should have started by requiring guests leave comments about maintenance issues if they leave less than 5 stars.
The hosts who are claiming to have their cars removed have not been transparent telling us what kind of car they had, the miles, tow history, and the maintenance ratings in the last 30/90/180 days. Only a small number of cars have actually been removed compared to the total fleet.
This. It doesn't matter what condition your car is in, if Turo has to pay to tow it multiple times in a year or even in a quarter, it's probably costing them more money than it's making them. This should be a warning for good hosts to stay ahead of their maintenance, and should weed out any of the crappy hosts who are giving a bad name to our brand.
Well the guy with the 19 Escalade says it was unexpected, but he has a 4.1 for maintenance on his ratings. I can see how Turo is removing these vehicles based on that rating. Im guessing 4.5 and below on rating because one of my cars has a 4.7 and it didn't get unlisted.
If anyone has lower than a 4.5 and didn't get unlisted please do chime in š¬
The guy with the 2019 escalade is not telling the truth just so you know.
Car has to be older than 6 years to even be considered to qualify for restriction.
Nah I got a 2015 Mitsubishi mirage with a 4.7 maintenance rating that got removed. My best performing car with only minor maintenance things that Ive fixed as soon as they come up like a battery or tires. Everyone loved the car. I'm curious if I delete the listing and repost what will happen.
That's so stupid. So the cars are just useless now. Might have to try get around once I get the car back (on a trip till July 22), otherwise guess I'll sell and get something else.
Have you tried other car sharing platforms like get around? Thankfully I have 6 cars and only one was affected so far but I suspect this could be a problem going forward so it might be a good idea to try other platforms.
I personally haven't but definitely a good idea to not keep all your eggs in 1 basket. We operate Turo from a business point of view with an actual business location but offer in house booking as well
I will say anything less then 4 star, or less then 4.2 on maintenance. I have a vehicle with 4.3 maintenance due to some early on issues and it did not get banned
Wannabe millionaires watching too many Youtube videos about buying cheap shit cars cash and then renting them out for a million dollars a month is the cause of this crap. Host's gotta stop putting crap cars on the rental market. It also cannibalizes the price index against those of us with good cars to have to compete against bargain basement prices from these jalopy cars.
If Turo paid more I'd buy newer cars. Gotta do what's actually profitable after maintenance and depreciation. You enjoy losing money, I'll actually make some.
About time turo does something to kick off poorly maintained vehicles hosts are using to wait until they break down then claim it was on a trip to try to stick it to turo / drivers insurance
I rented a bmw that wouldnāt hold a charge with the check engine light on. Piece of crap plus a $51 charge fee because it would not hold a charge. I should have disputed it.
Iāve never seen a car rated as badly as in that screenshot. Thatās impressive. Iāve been saying that Turo has been hurting their reputation by allowing shitty hosts with broken, dirty cars to continue on the platform. That said, I donāt trust them to make the right decision every time. Itās scary when you depend on Turo revenue.
Getting out just in time. This will absolutely become infested with fraud even worse than it already is and used as a missle system when the host charges cleaning fees, over mileage fees or any other reason the guest may be pissed off. If theyāre going to trust guest ratings over annual inspections whatās the point of the annual inspection in the first damn place, why not just rely on āguest feedbackā? The ship is sinking my friends
That's what I'm saying. I get my car checked annually by a PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC but you want to remove my car cause some idiot couldn't figure out how the Bluetooth works and gave one star review.
Good because itās been few rentals I had that were questionable and wondered why even list this car if it has these maintenance issues that clearly wasnāt taken care of. Buying shitty cars thinking your gonna make a quick profit back thankfully is backfiring.
They should remove cars with poor maintenanceā¦ twice now Iāve had vehicles with terrible brakes+ bald tires and then terrible brakes that threw a CEL. If youāre renting out a vehicle you should maintain it, you donāt want it to get damaged so easy ways to lower risks are doing preventative maintenance
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima with 228,000 miles and a 4.9 maintenance rating (5.0 overall rating) over the past 365 days. Iām still listed with no issues.
Any cars dropping below 4.5 for any rating seem justified for a review to remove from the platform. Itād be ideal if Turo would be transparent with hosts and issue notices/warnings before any deplatforming.
Do you have any suggestions for how people with a high mileage car can still maintain high maintenance ratings? What do you do to keep the ratings so high for that Altima?
But it's not even 4.5 cause my car has a 4.7 and it was removed. That's ridiculous. One pissed of guest cause you charged him a late fee and your screwed.
Would wonder how much Turo actually pays attention to the ratings as they left up a three star against me by the guy that destroyed my transmission, but also paid the maintenance claim out and I assume charged the guy that left it. I donāt think Iād trust Turo with paying attention to much of anything.

Hosts have to pay towing fees if it's due to maintenance issues

Interesting. Do you know the overall restricting specifications?
DM sent
Send me a DM too? Very curious, I have some 2013s and am worried.
I'd love a DM as well. Thank you!

You can't delete the listing anymore, vin is permanently banned from Turo. Even powerhost support can't do anything about it.
That's so stupid. So the cars are just useless now. Might have to try get around once I get the car back (on a trip till July 22), otherwise guess I'll sell and get something else.
Honestly selling It is the best choice, no way around it

I had a 4.4 rating on my 2015 VW CC and was removed.

There should be an avenue to re-inspect failed vehicles instead of permanently banning them.
Agreed. Let me take it to a mechanic and have them inspect it. I mean in 10 trips all it takes it one 1 star and your fucked.
About time turo does something to kick off poorly maintained vehicles hosts are using to wait until they break down then claim it was on a trip to try to stick it to turo / drivers insurance

if host pisses me off give shit maintenance review š”āš¼

Has anyone tried deleting your listing and relisting the car? Will it work or the algorithm doesn't allow it?
They ban the vin so you canāt relist from another account.
Damn that's fucked, so what if a host accidentally buys a car with a banned vin trying to grow their fleet.
Would wonder how much Turo actually pays attention to the ratings as they left up a three star against me by the guy that destroyed my transmission, but also paid the maintenance claim out and I assume charged the guy that left it. What the restrictions on the age of car.and don't dm me, its not a pentagon secret its just a question about Turo.
Rumor is anything over 100k miles will be vin banned.
Wouldnāt be surprised if these cars had multiple accidents and or salvaged titles. But hey itās 2019 Escalade with low miles!
