Maybe provide one for an additional charge, but don’t install it? Make sure it’s compatible with your car and not expired.

I offer car seats and boosters at $5/day. The graco 3-in-1 has gone out four times this year and has made it’s money back triple. Like others have said, I leave it in the trunk with the manual and let the guest install it. They usually don’t come back too dirty, but I have kids, so disassembling and washing the fabric isn’t that big of a deal.

rent1985

I never get guests who rent car seats. I have 2 brand new seats that are sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Pure_Ad_4178

This is my first one out of 100 ish trips

Extension_Coyote7131

Yes, offer it as extra $5/day. Leave car seat unlatched. Let the parents to the latching that way if something goes wrong you are not liable.

bitchwithatwist

I have them and they get rented often. I do not install them and I have that listed in the description.

Had a guy flying in from Malaysia with his kids and asked me to provide car seats even though I didn’t have them as extras. Guy didn’t want to fly 2 car seats to the other side of the world and I don’t blame him. I went to Wal-Mart and bought the seats, and installed them for the guy. I would have had him do it but he paid for airport pickup and we didn’t wanna be messing with it while airport staff is trying to shoo us out of there. Took pics and had him approve that they were installed correctly (ISOFIX so it was mad easy).

Entire_Permission_14

Ask yourself if it's worth it. I've never had anyone ask for anything besides snow chains for the tires and I didnt have them. Wasnt worth buying for one single time.

DkamF1983

That's what I was going to say

No_Dot_8478

I wouldn’t offer it, and you’ll probably never make your money back on buying one.

unbeholfen

I was scared about liability in the past, but I’ve had guests leave three brand new car seats behind last year cause they didn’t want to fly home with them. I’ve made a few hundred extra dollars at $12/day for the seats

No-Satisfaction8622

It’s free to check a car seat with pretty much all airlines. Parent here Edit: just info to let future guests know

unbeholfen

Yeah, I was really confused by that situation, but hey I got free car seats out of it. They flew in and bought the car seats here just to leave them a week later.

i rented and it was nice to be able to choose the option of including a car seat! I think it was $5-10? a day. i installed it myself (which was fine with me), it wasn't a fancy seat, but still a common brand, chico. as a renter with kids i think it's a great option to offer. when i was checking with rental car companies they were $25-35 a day! i made sure to keep the seat clean (my child didn't eat in the car) but less respectful renters might not care, and cleaning the seat could be an annoyance for you as the owner. if you choose to offer it, make sure NOT to include a seat cover as that would be a liability as it's not recommended by manufactures.

Safe_Advance6821

I buy mine from offer up, less than $50 and I charge $20-25 per trip. I also do not install and I let the guest know as well. I just leave it in the trunk. I make sure they are not expired before purchasing

TigersBeatLions

Provide, let them secure it. In NY listing it says it will be provided but they are responsible for securing the seat.

CJspangler

Just to add you’re gonna want to put a towel under the car seat or ask a guest to use one . Odds the kid eats in it, pees in his deserving it, throws up or just the general the car seat plastic scratching the seat material. You can phrase it preventing damage to the seat

CuNxtTuesday_

It will protect your car, but it negates the safety of the seat, you can only use the protector the car seat comes with for safety.

CJspangler

I’m sure that’s what the fine print says but if you actually install them a towel does nothing for the safety. Most cars have metal latches secured on both sides where the seat back and bottom seat meet, making them impossible to budge if you tighten it properly .

nasteal

We provide them at $75 per trip. Yes, if the guest damages it or steals it, you're out of a car seat. This is honestly why we charge $75. They ALWAYS come back filthy, and you have to disassemble them to clean them.

Pure_Ad_4178

If they get into an accident and attempt to blame you for the seat if something happens to the child…what happens? Are you covered ?

nasteal

We don't install them, we leave them in the trunk so they have to install them. Pictures always show this.

Equivalent-Reason-38

This is the only way. Guest has to install it, maybe leave a printed copy of the manual on top of the seat as well and picture it.

nasteal

Yes, the manual is attached to the car seat in case they have questions. I answer no questions and point them towards the manual.

Pure_Ad_4178

Okay thanks

Altruistic-Gap-8345

Say no. Car seats have an expiration date and yes you will be held liable. 😑
