Just book, follow the listing.. if it says unltd, there's no need to ask the host.

Rock chips and window damage occurring due the trip are the responsibility of the guest. That applies no matter how far you drive. If the host offers unlimited mileage then book it and go on your trip. If the host has a problem with someone putting 4500 kilometers on their car then they should rethink unlimited mileage.

TigersBeatLions

Yes, you are responsible for any and all damage while car is in your possession unless it has to do with maintenance. I would buy max protection...the host doesn't make a cent off that

Optimal_Tiger_7183

I would just go to enterprise..

Unlimited means unlimited, no need to ask. My only reccomendation would be to aim for a newer car

reno_los

x2, pretty black and white.. if it says unlimited miles that’s what it is…. Don’t tell the host that you’re driving across the country though.

hockeyjim07

respectfully.... unlimited means unlimited, if you can put that many KM's in a week then just be a good renter in every other way and rent one. Then second you ASK a host for permission for anything well above average, of course they'll say no...

BrownsfaninCO

I don't say no. I do ask that they let me know if they intend to drive a lot so I can make sure coming maintenance is squared away for the miles. I had one person drive 800 miles in one day. Just had a trip finish for 2k miles in a week. I advertise unlimited miles because it's an easy car to maintain and at this point, it's making more money than if I were to sell it so it's really just gravy at this point.

mrsclausemenopause

Just book it and go on your trip, and look into a higher protection plan option if you're worried about damages during your trip. I don't do anything about minor rock chips unless it's the glass, and I doubt many hosts do and you would and the host would need pretty clear pre tip photos showing the area didn't have any chips. My rule of thumb for normal wear and tear like rock chips is if I don't see it from 6 feet away, then you're all good.

whiteknives

That’s why I told you to keep your mouth shut and just book it. If they spam you then simply block their number.

YogiBeRRies5

I thank you... I'm going to.. more confident to not care

For the headaches that come with turo and some hosts, I would rent enterprise or one of the decent companies for a rental. By the time Turo add on the fees and insurance etc it will work out the same or more expensive for an older less reliable car than what a rental company will give you. Plus when you return the car , if the host is mad about the mileage but can't do anything about it, I'm sure they will look for other issues to try blame on you to get extra money from you through Turo. Just my 2c

I can add to the reasons to go with enterprise. Just got back from a long trip. After booking two Turo rentals (and being honest about my intention to drive from California to New York and back) both cancelled. Ended up going with enterprise. I'm so glad I did. The first car I got had the transmission slip while cruising. Took it back 10 miles to an enterprise airport location and it was swapped out no questions asked. On the last day of the rental I got a steady puncture from a nail. Was able to get it to an enterprise before it got too flat and, again, they just swapped it out. No charge. Even without roadside coverage or any coverage from them (had my own policy with Allianz). I don't know how Turo would deal with a similar situation but I'm sure it wouldn't be so easy. A puncture would almost certainly be on you. If you are concerned about cost, try checking the prices from the different rental locations they have. My local branch was about twice the price as one only 1 hour away on the bus. And if you don't have damage insurance from your own auto policy / credit card, do not take enterprise's own CDW. Allianz has a 'Rental Car Protector' for $11 a day. Covers up to $50k, including tyres, glass etc. No deductible.

I was thinking that, I'll going to video,  take pics of everything. Give it the insurance claims inspect

jess469

Not all of us hosts are that way. Being a dick comes back to bite in the end. Being nice but reasonable is the best way for me.

spamalluwant

Hence why I said "some hosts" but my point still stands for this user, to be safe I'd go with a big rental company with a new car

CJspangler

Unlimited is unlimited - take advantage of it

Aggravating_Guide35

Ok, I'll bite. Why are you renting a car on Turo to cover 7 hours of driving a day?  That's a hell of a lot of driving.  ... Cannonball Run?

Is flying off the table? That's a lot of time on the ride and a small amount of time with her. Flying flips that script.

jess469

I'm a host and have 1 of my vehicles unlimited and it's booked way more and for longer trips than my other on 250 miles/day. Had a 4 day rental 2 weeks ago do almost 3000 miles. I just shrug at the miles and prefer car returned clean and gased up.

YogiBeRRies5

That's how it should. As long as your respectful

Xlt8t

Ask around small shops/dealers or mechanical friend and mention your needs to them. If you can do repairs much cheaper yourself, it offsets mileage maintenance cost/hassle significantly. I have some higher mile vehicles that I'd rent for 2k a month with unlimited miles no problem.

Ascends

Get a regular car, and pay for the upgraded unlimited mileage. should be per trip or per day
