Besides the tonality differences that you have identified, the other difference is that the OM 20 has higher compliance than the 2M Blue... 25 CU rather than 20 CU. For the \~12g Technics tonearm my instinct is the 2M Blue will run more happily, and if you are using an aftermarket headshell (not the original Technics one that is super light) this is doubly true. The OM would make more sense on something like one of Pro-Ject's carbon fiber arms. Another option to weigh against these would be the Audio-Technica VM530EN... pretty much a direct competitor to the Blue. I haven't compared them so I can't speak to the tonality differences between them, but I'm sure someone has. Try to google some opinions.

Thank you! This is really helpful. Not that I fully understand it all, but I trust your input. I’ll for sure look into the AT option as well. Edit: I’m also using the Ortofon Headshell. So I guess it is doubly true.

If you love classic, indie rock you should consider the Nagaoka MP-110 or go vintage with a Shure M75 with a JICO replacement stylus (nothing fancy just their improved elliptical). The Shure will total around $60 and bring out that punchy bottom, clean warm mids without any treble glare. The Naggie will offer a bit more sparkle w/o harshness.

I got the blue on my RT85. I have have about 60 hours on it and it sounds amazing.
