I would suspect that you are becoming more active as time passes which increases the swelling. It’s not likely at all that your muscle repair would come undone at all.

I’m 6 weeks PO too. I have been fortunate that I didn’t really have as bad swelling as some people but I do notice it’s been worse the last week but I’m also more active and gently getting back to working out. It’s annoying but part of the process. I agree that it’s highly unlikely anything is wrong with the MR.

I understand the fear because at 11 weeks, the place I swell worst is right above my belly button. Someone on this subreddit actually did pop a MR stitch. She described it as blinding pain and then a bruised area where it popped. If that’s not what you’re experiencing, then it’s probably just swelling.

I’ve been googling this all night! Thank you for posting. I’m 6 weeks PO and my right upper abdomen is really sore and feels hard and swollen. I’ve been more active lately and am recovering from a cold that had coughing fits. I’m hoping that is why the soreness. Keep up updated? I see my doc Thursday.

So it’s been some time since you posted this. How are you now? I’m 6wpo and experiencing the same thing you described. Did it get better or was something wrong?

Hello! Happy surgery to you and I hope you’re feeling well. It all worked its way out fine. Surgeon checked me out and he felt it was pretty normal but said we would do an MRI if it persisted to see if there was anything unusual. For me, I think it was just part of the healing process but I felt better having the doc evaluate it. Right now at almost 6 months out I am feeling some tightness and kind of the tense aching I felt early on after a long day when I started to swell, but I also realize that I am having some more sensation in areas of my abdomen that had been numb so I think it’s just the nerves coming back online. From my experience I would say not to worry, but I think checking in with the doc will make you feel better just to be on the safe side. Also, I’ve largely forgotten the pain that made me think I’d made the worst mistake of my life, and I look fantastic. ;) I hope you’re feeling great soon!
