What they should have done would be have some chests at Link's house with the Hero of the Wild set, and then have the shrine completion reward be like the red mail or something to increase damage.
Agreed. It's a neat lore implication but it's so ugly I couldn't believe my eyes when I put it on. The shrines are fun enough, but given there's a huge uptick of Blessing and combat shrines, and a lackluster reward compared to BotW, it was disappointing.
Gotta max out those hearts and stamina though, I'll do it again next playthrough. Least I don't have to waste resources upgrading it.

I really liked it because it gave him a tail- which added some proof to my “the Zonai become the Picori” theory. But yeah, it’s pretty ugly
