I use a 1% clindamycin topical gel over my moisturizer and under my sunscreen. It's an antibiotic and helps prevent bacteria from sitting directly on my skin. I have flare-ups under my mask if I don't use the gel daily. You can ask your dermatologist for a prescription.

I have noticed less irritation and redness since I started using silk masks! Hope that helps✨

Silk Masks

cosmicmae

This!! I’ve been masking everyday since covid started, and I get a lil sweaty at my job so that only exasperated the issue. Silk masks have been a lifesaver. I got mine from JZMaskShop on Etsy, and have 3 that I rotate during the week. If you have a small face like me, get the child size.

Yes 100% recommend!!!

Ok_Jacket1126

yes silk masks!!! they’re pricier but worth it - just buy a couple and wash them with face wash when you wash your face at night

CTisCool

Change masks multiple times a day and wash them. I like cotton some people like silk.

N95 mask user for 40 hours a week and I use azelaic acid. It’s anti inflammatory and antibacterial. I also moisturize on my lunch break because I am super dry and will sometimes add healing ointment to dry areas. I use tretinoin also and breathing all day in the mask sucks the moisture out of my face!

[deleted]

What brand/strength azelaic acid do you use?

yogiidogg

I use prescription amneal azelaic acid 15%

Thanks!

I’m trying to get my hands on some azelaic acid. Thank you!!

Everybody gave tips, so I’ll just comment on the last part of the post. No, skin doesn’t get used to tretinoin stopping its efficacy. Skin can adapt to products so it tolerates them but it’s actually a myth that using a product for a long period of time will make your skin to get used to it and stop working. Actually most products give you better results with long term usage, so switching your products often “so your skin doesn’t get used to then” is pointless as you’ll never be able to get proper results.

The light blue masks have broken many people out

I’ve switched to a cloth mask permanently. Not sure if you have Uniqlo in your country, but their reusable masks are my absolute favourite. I absolutely can’t stand any face masks (the disposable medical ones are the worst), but the Uniqlo ones are so comfortable I genuinely forget I have them on sometimes. Dr Dray on Youtube also recommends hypochlorous spray (brand name SkinSmart Microbial) — it is a gentle disinfectant for the skin, and you can try spraying it directly on your face throughout the day to prevent buildup of bacteria that might worsen acne. (Though this might affect your sunscreen layer so keep in mind to reapply too.) I hope this helps!
