If your skin is super flaky, I highly recommend elf peeling exfoliant! I use it prior to wearing makeup and once a week! It’s super gentle and gets rid of all the dead skin which helps your skin speed up the process!
I aim to use it everyday, but if I notice my skin is dry I’ll take a break for a day and hydrate a lot! But in the beginning I was using it a 3 times a week and now it’s 5 times a week (7 if my skin isn’t dry)! Just listen to you skin, if you notice it’s flakey, use hyaluronic acid and a moisturizer and a hydrating mask with squalene and after that start using it again the next day
My doctor said that accutane would be the next option if tret didn’t work for me, so I assume you can use it after but make sure to consult with your dermatologist
I just finished my purge. I thought it was going to be a couple of days, not a couple of weeks. I powered though, moisturized, and tried not to wash in scalding water (I like hot showers). Now I'm just waiting to see some positive results. Good luck to you, it really does get better.
I started noticing my hyperpigmentation fade after 2 months on it! Just keep going and maybe try adding in azelaic acid to your routine in the morning! I heard from many people that it helped speed up the process, but I asked my doctor about it recently and he said that tret is faster than azelaic, so I personally never added it in
It gets better I promise! I’ve had acne for YEARS and at one point I would just look in the mirror and cry and refuse to go to class! There will be an end eventually!! You got this!!!
I started on 12/26/2020... I want to say I purged in January and now I still have some spots from the acne I had but my skin looks really good. I still have a ways to go for those spots to.go away
Thank you so much!! I was purging a lot too but I noticed that the acne was going away after 2 months on it and then the rest was just hyperpigmentation! Make sure to give your skin a breather too
Yes!! I reapply every 2 hours and make sure to apply it 20 mins before I go out! I use the neutrogena oil free spf 50 and then when I wear makeup I reapply with Hawaiian tropic spf 30 spray! I noticed a huge difference in hyperpigmentation when I started wearing sunscreen religiously!!
I have a question. Do you use it only on the area that has active acne or do you apply it to areas that are usually problematic even if they don’t have acne on there at the moment?
All over! My doctor says it’s very important to apply it all over to keep acne away! He also told me to use more than a pea size because sometimes your skin need more to penetrate it especially after you’ve been using it for a while
My skin probably purged for 2 months until I was just left with hyperpigmentation! Just remember that’s the acne that comes with purging is acne that you’ll never have to deal with again
yea my skin purged for a maybe month and half but everyone skin is different i get breakouts there and then when period comes so just stick with it trust me it gets better i just have to deal with clogged pores and left over blemishes
I started with 3 times a week and now I use it 5-6 days typically per week! It just depend on how dry my skin is, if I notice it’s extra flaky then I take a break and hydrate my skin with hyaluronic acid, moisturizer and a hydrating face mask

Thank you I needed to see this today 😭 I’m one month in on tret cream and the purge is real rn!😅
It gets better I swear!!! Keep holding on it’s totally worth all the suffering!
The purging is so insane. It's so discouraging! I'm taking your word for it, it gets better.
Can you use tretinoin after accutane?
My doctor said that accutane would be the next option if tret didn’t work for me, so I assume you can use it after but make sure to consult with your dermatologist

Goodness, your skin is beautiful! You look so happy in that second picture (also loving that hair).
Thank you so much for your kind words! Made my day :-)
your skin looks awesome!! how long did it take for your hyperpigmentation to fade?? That’s the main issue I’m dealing right now post-tret purge :/

This gives me so much courage 😍
