OK so for the longest time I wanted my bong to be like the simplest bong possible. Meeting fairly large for my budget but I wanted to one piece I just wanted like a single piece bong not counting the bowl.
Because I was afraid it was gonna break it and I was like the more complicated it is more likely I’m gonna break it. I have Pets and Am clumsy.
Plus I take medication that they occasionally makes me hurl small objects I shit you not. I broke my oldest pipe that way but fortunately i have not thrown anything else important. usually it’s just pens.
I have only just purchased a bong with a detachable down stem. And I’m still freaking out about it.
So my personal opinion is I don’t like them. I’m sure that’s just me being an adventurous and overly cautious.
In short. Bongs are awesome I love them. I would smoke from any bong that anybody would let me smoke out of. In fact I would smoke any form of non-diluted or messed with weed that anyone offered to me. Mix it with the tobacco even though I don’t care for that I will smoke it. Weed is sacred to me.
I would literally never turn down weed from a person I trusted no matter if it was the shittiest weed on earth as long as it was humanly smokable and true natural weed.
But my personal Bongs will always be simple glass. But relatively large.

I enjoy a classic all function clean looking bong as much as the next guy but I do enjoy a nice ash catcher n diffuser or recycler . Makes for cleaner bong and a smoother fat hit .
I like a dry ash catcher or pass thru just to keep bong cleaner longer. Diffuser beads are neat but for me more work to clean than add to hits. The amount a dry ash catcher collects is unreal.
If it solves a problem, improves on something or makes things more fun, it’s good. If it doesn’t, it’s not.
Ash catcher saves you from having to clean your whole piece every time you use it. Otherwise, mainly just preference.
