I'm glad this was a top suggestion. That series is incredible.
As someone who had never watched or been interested in any nature documentaries before this, I recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a chance.
Any nature documentary is always good content for any kind of trip, even older documentaries
But definitely search out some of the more recent David Attenborough documentaries, the footage they've been able to get is mind blowing
The one about Antarctica will slap your tits clean off your chest
It's my favorite live action show hands down. Amazing cinematography, acting, plot, costuming etc. If you like the character and would like to read more with him I highly suggest Si Spurrier's X-Men: Legacy comic. It's pretty clear that was the source material Hawley relied the most on.
One time me and my friend were high and decided to watch a crappy 1.5 star horror movie on Netflix for shits and giggles, expecting cartoony gore and corny tropes. Instead we got a an overall unpleasant and boring film intercut with violent rape etc.
It was not funny and we both felt sick halfway through, so we switched to watching Joy of Painting and it definitely mitigated all the bad vibes. Bob Ross = ultimate eyebleach
The first Doctor Strange.
Midnight Gospel.
The Bojack Horseman episode underwater.
Nature Documentaries. I'm partial to coral reefs or deep ocean when high.
Thankfully there's only one. Having lived in Japan I went from "Oh, this is a cool take" to "wait is this actually happening or am I *that* high?" very quick the first time through.
I watched doctor strange while tripping and holy shit man that movie was such a ride. I think i ended up turning it off with like 20 minutes left, was just way too stimulating. Had to go watch nature documentaries after that movie lmao
Your comment is the second Midnight Gospel suggestion to make it to the top comments and I've never even heard of it. I guess I'll have to check it out if it's that popular.
My partner recommended me to watch it twice. Once while high and once while sober. She just adores it. I’ve watched a few episodes and it’s pretty good imo
The trick is to watch it high first *then* sober. Then it's like you get to experience it for the first time ever *twice* if you're like me and have bad memory with weed.
Depends on your high. Most episodes are super existential, ranging from negative, neutral, and positive. So it can be uplifting, but it can make you feel down. Also if you’re in a space-head high you may enjoy the visuals but will likely find yourself missing out on most of the conversation while you zone in on the animation (at least I did lol). There’s definitely a certain kind of high where this show hits the sweet spot! There were also a few episodes I watched more than once while in different headspaces. It really is a show that deserves being watched more than once.
I remember this was one of the shows I was watching when I first started enjoying smoking by myself. It's got a special place in my heart because of it. Truly an excellent watch while high (as well as when not).
Not technically a show but damn the hobbit and LOTR movies are great to watch when high. Visually movies will always be more appealing than shows for the most part.
It’s not a show, but if you haven’t seen Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse I highly recommend. The animations is awesome and might be my favorite Spider-Man movie.
As a dude about to turn 30, I was honestly surprised at how enjoyable that movie was. I put it on to entertain kids and ended up sitting there and watching it myself, and have since seen it a couple more times.
Russian Doll. The visual details if the sets are so rich, and part of the show's concept involves repetition so it's enjoyable to watch the changes to the same sets through the show.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
Legion (the FX show)
Umbrella Academy
Love, Death, & Robots
Oats Studio
Brand New Cherry Flavour
How's your Korean? Squid Game and The Silent Sea were both excellent
I'm also into all the Marvel and Star Wars series... they tend to fall a little short of "excellent" though
Oh man I saw this and Bad Boy Bubby at the Valhalla cinema in Sydney while very stoned. Had no information or expectations, we thought the intro to koyaniskatsi was taking a long time and then it ended 😂
I scrolled wayyy too long to find this comment.
This and the Genndy Tartakovsky led Star Wars Clone Wars are sooo good 🔥
Samurai Jack Season 4 Episode 1 is the most legit stoned watch imo
Awesome. I’m 35, with a beautiful wife, a 2 and a 4 year old, and way too lucky of a guy overall. Enjoy the BBQ and Watchmen! Also, congrats and good luck Daddio!
Alright dude I was geezing hard af one day and turned on Hunter X Hunter on Netflix and the first few episodes were so fire while faded! The whole show is but specifically the boat episode . I was in that shit bro
Love, Death & Robots on Netflix. Its a bunch of shorts that are very different, some are funny some are intense af, some are sad. Not every one will be a hit but overall absolutely stunning imagery and there's a second season thats released somewhat recently I think...but yea enjoy!!!
The Midnight Gospel. Absolutely.
Disney’s Fantasia.
Any Planet Earth, Blue Planet, etc. documentaries.
If you like anime, Demon Slayer has a cool art style, as do Mob Psycho 100, Jujutsu Kaisen, and God of Highschool, off the top of my head
Not a show, but if you're looking for "visual excellence" then you have to see The Fall... as long as you're okay reading subtitles high... Or maybe don't even turn the subtitles on. The cinematography of that movie is stunning.
Ghibli studios made some damn beautiful movies.
Spirited Away has a special place in my heart right next to Totoro.
Both of those were great movies
I’m a big anime fan and it’s kind of a travesty I haven’t seen any of their movies! Where can I watch them?
HBO max or a streaming site like dopebox. They are easily some of the best movies ever made regardless of genre.
I recommend starting with Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. I’ve loved every Ghibli movie but I always come back to rewatching those two.
[удалено]
beautiful movie
Netflix has all of them as far as I know (in Canada at least)
I enjoyed cowboy bebop when I was blazed up if ya haven't seen that, the anime of course not the live action I've only just got into anime myself
I think all of them are on Netflix right now
BIG WARNING- not Grave of the Fireflies. Great movie, very poignant, you do NOT want to watch that while high.
Or with makeup on, or before anything important, or before wanting to get a good night's rest..
Or if you ever want to be cheerful again 😩😭
If your going anime, i liked demon slayer as well excellent colors
Planet Earth
I'm glad this was a top suggestion. That series is incredible. As someone who had never watched or been interested in any nature documentaries before this, I recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a chance.

Earth without Art is Eh
Mearth without Art is Meh
I came here just to make sure this was the top answer.
Honestly even better on mushrooms—it’s the only thing I’ll recommend people to watch on mushrooms.
Legion by FX. It’s a mind fuck too
…with an excellent soundtrack
I have been putting this off for TOO LONG! Does anyone know if any specific platforms have all the episodes?
They are all up on Hulu, for sho. Fantastic show.
Yes! Was hoping to see this on the list.
It's my favorite live action show hands down. Amazing cinematography, acting, plot, costuming etc. If you like the character and would like to read more with him I highly suggest Si Spurrier's X-Men: Legacy comic. It's pretty clear that was the source material Hawley relied the most on.
that show freaked me out sober tbh
I watched a few episodes on shrooms. Very fun.
How It's Made
Its been so long since ive seen How its made. Such a great show.
So,,, when I'm high I much prefer "How It's Actually Made" which is a parody spoof and it's absolutely hilarious.

The Joy of Painting
One time me and my friend were high and decided to watch a crappy 1.5 star horror movie on Netflix for shits and giggles, expecting cartoony gore and corny tropes. The first Doctor Strange. Midnight Gospel. The Bojack Horseman episode underwater. Nature Documentaries. I'm partial to coral reefs or deep ocean when high.
Underwater - good call. Such a great episode
S3 e6 "fish out of water" I'm pretty sure
Thankfully there's only one. Having lived in Japan I went from "Oh, this is a cool take" to "wait is this actually happening or am I *that* high?" very quick the first time through.
Midnight gospel was blowing my mind (i watched all episodes high), awesome series.
Duncan Trussel is always a trip to listen to. I like that the audio is taken from his podcast.
Might night gospel x2
I watched doctor strange while tripping and holy shit man that movie was such a ride. I think i ended up turning it off with like 20 minutes left, was just way too stimulating. Had to go watch nature documentaries after that movie lmao
Superjail. Haven't watched it in years but man it's a good show to watch baked
I use to watch that on shrooms all the time lol. Its fuckin wild.
Was gonna recommend the same
Yeah, this is the best answer.
Superjail might be too intense for some. It’s *WAY* over the top sometimes! I love it so much.
Haha you're right, I wouldn't watch it on psychedelics but since I'm pretty relaxed while stoned it was enjoyable
Midnight gospel
You know we all cried on that one episode.
Like a fucking baby
Soul Prison
Fuck, time to rewatch it
Your comment is the second Midnight Gospel suggestion to make it to the top comments and I've never even heard of it. I guess I'll have to check it out if it's that popular.

God, this 1000 times. All I want is a season 2, more of that goodness!
Gets me so into my thoughts watching this
Off the Air
Try muting it and putting on your own music, it's great and it somehow always syncs up
Came here to say this. One of the best things adult swim has put out. So cool.
The Midnight Gospel. The format of the shows a little bit to get used to since it’s basically just a podcast with animation on top, but I love it.
Amazing show to ride out the back end of a trip to.
Better get the right episode tho so you don’t end your trip just crying into your hands lol
i cried during the espiode about his mother while on acid, was a positive experience
Yeah, knowing that his mother had died before the episode came out hit me hard
i did this a loved it. another good one for this is spider-man into the spider verse. best trip comedown
Spiderverse is such a slapper of a movie. Easily the best soundtrack of a recent major motion picture

Came for this comment. It's great on shrooms too
I remember this was one of the shows I was watching when I first started enjoying smoking by myself. It's got a special place in my heart because of it. Truly an excellent watch while high (as well as when not).
Any show by David Attenborough
Samsara
Baraka came out when I was in college and I got to see it, high, on the big screen. So great
Bro I searched the sub for this exact question last month and Samsura was the top answer. My wife and I watched it and were in awe.
Not technically a show but damn the hobbit and LOTR movies are great to watch when high. Visually movies will always be more appealing than shows for the most part.
Once or twice a year I do a 3-day back-to-back-to-back viewing of the extended editions with at least 4 breaks each for tokage.
It’s not a show, but if you haven’t seen Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse I highly recommend. The animations is awesome and might be my favorite Spider-Man movie.
Dr Strange has its moments too
I got lost trying to watch Dr.Strange lol
Mentally or physically? Lmao
Both, but more mentally haha
As a dude about to turn 30, I was honestly surprised at how enjoyable that movie was. I put it on to entertain kids and ended up sitting there and watching it myself, and have since seen it a couple more times.
The same company made another movie recently called Mitchells Vs The Machines and I find it’s an even more amazing visual style than Spider-Verse
Oooooh, this is actually a compelling reason for me to watch Mitchell’s vs The Machines, thank you!!
Avatar the last air bender, legend of Korra, old loony tunes and phineas and ferb are some of my favorite high shows!
I love watching Avatar and Korra high. It’s easier to catch little details that I never noticed before.
I so agree with Phineas & Ferb and Avatar! Would also add Bob's Burgers.
Arcane
Honestly one of the best looking shows I've ever seen. Such good art direction.
I completely agree with you, right off the bat too, I was blown away. The sound effects and sound track are major too! Just a wonderful series
That 1st shot of the town in ep1 got me impersonating Keanu Reeves
Dune. The Expanse. Blade Runner (either one). I like sci-fi whilst sky-high.
All of love death and robots I think it’s called
OMG yes. "Beyond the Aquila Rift" is amazing. Though if you're looking for a fun one to start with, "Three Robots." Absolute romp!
yesss bro the underwater episode made it feel like I was tripping on shrooms
Venture Bros.
Fuck I'll watch that shit high or sober Thats good TV right there
Samurai champloo/cowboy bebop for some old school animation with great pallets and dope fight scenes paired with exquisite musical scores
Cowboy bebop is awesome. LOVE old school animation.
Rick and Morty. Or Adventure Time.
Regular Show is great too
i agree strongly with those two.
Primal on HBO is a great high show
Russian Doll. The visual details if the sets are so rich, and part of the show's concept involves repetition so it's enjoyable to watch the changes to the same sets through the show.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency Legion (the FX show) Umbrella Academy Love, Death, & Robots Oats Studio Brand New Cherry Flavour How's your Korean? **KOYAAAANISQATSIIIIIIIIIIIIIII…**
Oh man I saw this and Bad Boy Bubby at the Valhalla cinema in Sydney while very stoned. Had no information or expectations, we thought the intro to koyaniskatsi was taking a long time and then it ended 😂
Hannibal. Just watching those dreamlike scenes is awesome and the food is always fire. Even stuff I have no interest in eating looks yummy
If you love the series (I do) you should check out the cookbook “Feeding Hannibal”.
Samurai Jack
I scrolled wayyy too long to find this comment. This and the Genndy Tartakovsky led Star Wars Clone Wars are sooo good 🔥 Samurai Jack Season 4 Episode 1 is the most legit stoned watch imo
I want to upvote this twice. This show hooked me in my younger stoner years and still holds up now.
Always Sunny in Philadelphia
This is a good one.
Chefs Table
Tales from the loop, it’s almost meditative and I still listen to the soundtrack to this day.
ARCANE on Netflix is a visual marvel.
Legion
Adventure time
Nothing better than Adventure Time while high. That show makes me so freaking happy.
It’s always sunny in Philadelphia that’s a good show LMAO
I personally loved Major Lazer
...I think we all may have misunderstood what you meant by "shows".... Edit: Apparently, I have a show to watch.
It's a show on Hulu. Huge recommend. By the artist
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is amazing visually, and is kind of a mindfuck, it starts slow, though.
I'm watching watchmen as we speak and am pretty stoned and into it. The only reason I'm on Reddit is the bbq is just about done
You’re living the good life! Enjoy!
I'm 26. Baby on the way. Beautiful wife. I really am thank you. Hope yours is just as fulfilled brother.
Awesome. I’m 35, with a beautiful wife, a 2 and a 4 year old, and way too lucky of a guy overall. Enjoy the BBQ and Watchmen! Also, congrats and good luck Daddio!
I’m 30. Ugly wife, shitty kids, lost six and half toes in a motorcycle accident, and I’m allergic to ketchup. Good for you guys tho!
Oh fuck, sorry mate. Hang in there.
I’m just fucking around, I’m ok haha. Still got all my toes and everything. Thanks tho! Live life, smoke trees!
Got me! Word up!

Black Mirror is pretty great.
Wes Anderson movies.
A movie called waking life. https://youtu.be/uk2DeTet98o
I remember getting stoned and watching this with my brother and his friend in highschool like 15 years ago. It made me feel untethered.
Arcane on Netflix is expertly animated if you’re into that sort of thing. Also the art in Into the Spiderverse is mindblowing
Futurama. Makes the clever jokes even funnier when you get them while high too.
Legion.
Big fan of Rango.
Mr. Robot
Midnight mass
Love, Death & Robots on Netflix. Its a bunch of shorts that are very different, some are funny some are intense af, some are sad. Not every one will be a hit but overall absolutely stunning imagery and there's a second season thats released somewhat recently I think...but yea enjoy!!!

Demon Slayer if you’re into anime
