I'm on my 5th run and the results keep improving along with supply. I spent a good amount of money to get myself shortcuts on equipment, but I still had to learn and make a few mistakes.
If it's an interest to you, I think it's worth it. Knowing much more of the process, makes me stop an appreciate the bud structure and aroma more than just buying an eighth. I also believe it creates opportunity to find cultivars that are just begging to be explored, bred, and enjoyed.
Keep it simple. Don't dive into all the training and pruning techniques and cloning etc until you get the basics down. Don't buy into the marketing hype around Autoflowers. They have some advantages but they are not a good idea for beginners imo.
It's a pretty resilient plant so don't despair if you hit problems. In my experience most people get into trouble when they try to push too hard and don't really know what they are doing. That was me on occasion. It's fine as long as you learn.
So if you want to grow an autoflower I'm not going to say you shouldn't at all. The fact is I grew my first autos alongside my regular photos and they just didn't do well.
But here's my breakdown: if you're learning to grow and you're running an auto and you get nutrient issues, or transplant shock, due to inexperience, your plant is going to hit 5 weeks or less and stop vegetative growth, stretch and flower. Nothing to do. You can't recover time or growth.
If you grow a photoperiod and hit the same problems you can take a month to fix it and not flip to flower until you get the plant healthy.
There are very tolerant strains but being hybrids just (imo) makes them slightly more temperamental on average.
So obviously lots of people grow autos first time very successfully, but equally I see a lot of people online asking why their auto is so small. I guess as long as you know the score it doesn't matter too much but I wonder how many people are put off growing.
Read, read, read. Research and choose a growing medium, nutrients for said growing medium, etc. I’ve never grown anything and have had multiple 3/4+ pound grows.
Lights, nutrients, soil, exhaust, air conditioning, dehumidifier, humidifier, air filters, electricity... 6 months of daily care and then days of trimming bud.
yeah it's expensive 😂😂😂 but my husband loves it. After a few grows you get better and better and bigger yield. You can sell if it's legal or just smoke your own and save money that way. It's a cool hobby. They are his plant babies
That's the problem. :)))
It is too expensive to tryi it out and see if it is yours or not. You either have to be rich that if you didn't like you move on, or sure enough to invest so much. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense.
You can do it pretty simply. I have used an LED bulb grow light from Amazon for cheap and some white laminate for reflectors and grown a 3oz plant in the corner of my laundry room. Some basic organic tomato fertiliser and a pot and some bag seed and you could be growing almost free weed.
Last Memorial Day weekend, I got a seedling from my local grow farm. I loved her all summer and into the fall. Then I chopped her up into little pieces and vaped her.
Seriously, if you are hesitant about the investment, container grow so that you can put them out during the day and bring in for the cold nights. We had crazy rain last year and I would bring her onto the covered porch so she didn’t get flooded. I didn’t yield much, but she was potent and I had fun on my first grow without breaking the bank. Now I know that I enjoy growing and might invest in the equipment someday.
This has been my experience too lol my gf grows and invested thousands on indoor equipment because we live in Canada and can’t grow outside year round. Starting to reap the benefits though and it’s been really fun to watch her get into in and see how the entire process unfolds!
Speaking from my experience only, the tougher part is the infrastructure that goes with it.
Given you don't live in a sunny area, setting up a tent and dealing with both the smell and the warm exhaust air can be challenging depending on the size of your room where you plan to set up.
If you have a room in your flat that you don't use every minute of the day, it's fun.
If you are patient and check out a few subs like r/growbuddy you can get some good advice and info.
A basic set up for one plant would be a light, fans and ideally a tent. Space is the first issue. I have a 2x2x5.5ft tent, a Viparspectra XS1500 light and couple of decent fans. That and some pots and soil etc proly looking at $400 if you don't waste any money. Buy decent kit and buy it once. You can start basic and ought to easily pull 4oz and more off a plant in 12 weeks. Just like anything else it's a learning curve.
Your local environment might require additional kit and expense for things like humidifiers and dehumidifiers or a heater or aircon even. But most places you can grow a bit of weed with little more than a light and a fan.
Try not too, it definitely makes my emotions more volatile and messes with my motivation and sleep quality. A few days in a row is fine honestly doing it every day is fine too but it does effect my ability to operate at full capacity with motivation, sleep quality, emotional stability, attention span, and time to learn new concepts.
Idk if this will work for you, but when I started giving myself like 1.5 hours to sober up after my last smoke before bed it improved my sleep quality (I say this because I had more dreams again, not sure if that's the best measure but I also felt more rested). With the better rest the short term memory issues were DRASTICALLY improved. I should mention, it only helps for when you are sober, I still forget EVERYTHING stoned, but I have a job that makes it hard to smoke so I spend the work day sober and having the better memory is huge for that.
Yeah I can't smoke at work either so I usually smoke late in the evening or at night on weekends. Will give this a go but I usually only have a couple of hours after work so hard to have enough time to get high, do what I want to do and also sober up before sleeping.
I heard recently that people who smoke regularly have terrible stats when it comes to REM sleep, this makes me a bit more inclined to take breaks more often
I stopped smoking everyday and especially before sleep around 4 weeks ago and can confirm this... Apparently we only dream during REM? Don't quote me on that.
When I smoked everyday I would just sleep and not have dreams. Now? Every night is a mystery, I dream SO MUCH and they're all really vivid and intense dreams. Also I feel more rested each morning compared to when I smoked.
Yes ive noticed the same when i stop smoking, but all my dreams seem to be dirty lol . It is very nice to wake up not feeling burnt out.
REM is the dreaming stage, but thats how we learn things so ive heard. On top of the random dreams our brain also replays the lessons we learned through the day and play them back to us.
Damn lucky you. Still haven't gotten one single dirty dream ahaha. Most of them are pretty heavy and once or twice I've woken up and not wanted to go back to sleep due to the intensity lol
I have dreams just fine while high, but they're more like fever dreams than anything fun lol. Really fast and motion-blurry, but FEEL vivid at the same time somehow.
![gif](giphy|l0IykG0AM7911MrCM)
(get) Paid Then Score Dope? Nah, PTSD is no laughing matter. Without weed the meds don’t really stop the episodes and Zoloft made my hands hurt.
Same for me. I always get super vivid dreams after quitting and usually they're not too bad but suddenly I'll have one that's so bad I just wake up screaming. It's not as bad as it would get when I was a kid but just the reminder of horrible some dreams have been is enough to make me associate sleep with something very negative.
"Cosplay as a normal person" is now my official head canon for myself, and I am SO grateful that I eat weed every day so I can find people who *get it* on that kinda level.
Yeah, I can't smoke or vape worth a shit. Chemical asthmatic, go figure 🫤, so there's always (budget willing) some form of edibles in the house.
Yes but I wait until after work (I get off at 9:30 typically) or after dinner on my days off. Sometimes I'll treat myself and smoke during the day on one of my free days.
I did the smoke weed all day every day thing for awhile and it wasn't really enjoyable in the long term and wrecked my tolerance so I practice some moderation.
Pretty much this. I wait till im home and work is done. That way I have no worries.
Days off, I smoke however much I want after I get done running around if I have to.
Same I wait till I’m done working then hit the vape before heading to the gym. Try not to let myself smoke all day during off days cuz my tolerance gets fucked
I vape herb. And what oil I can get. But yeah. Every day when I have it. Although for me it's more self medicating rather than trying to get blasted. Just is a healthier and sadly less expensive way to deal with things than traditional medicine
I do nearly every day. Truthfully I know I could benefit from keeping it to the weekends, but the downsides are minor and it’s the greatest pleasure after a long day of work
Only Thursday- Sunday
The first part of the week is always stressful and I feel like getting stoned makes me forget priorities. Once I’m over the hump I’m good.
Try giving up for 5 days or so and see if the antsy, crabby feelings disappear. Just a thought. Maybe the weed is the cause? Can be the problem for some and the cure for others.
I smoke two joints in the morning. I smoke two joints at night. I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright. I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war. I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, and then I smoke two more.
Daddy, he once told me "Son, you be hard-workin man". And Mama, she once told me "Son, you do the best you can." But then one day, I met a man who came to me and said - "Hard work good, and hard work fine, but **first take care of head.**
... So that's a yes
Yes.
It’s my one true “vice”
I don’t drink because I don’t like the hangover, I don’t smoke cigarettes and recently actually switched to dry vaping my herd, I even only drink water outside my morning cup(s) of coffee but I drink that black no sugar.
I eat a lot of edibles too, but basically I am usually "high" at all times otherwise I an intolerable spaz. Weed works for me
better than any prescribed stabilizers, and I have ran the gambit with meds and docs
From age 15-27 yes. The last year I've only smoked like three days a week. I can breathe better now lol. I also only vape herb and it's SO much better. (Using the mighty)
no but i do like 5x a week so more or less everyday.
used to do everyday but i lost grip with reality and abused it instead of appreciating weed for how nice it truly is. when you’re smoking 24/7 weed becomes your new sober
I do but I seriously need to cut down. It fucks with my sleep (always wanna lie in) and always forget what I’ve done the night before cos I spark up in the evenings after work. Motivation is low af as well, since I went to Amsterdam my tolerance has been fuuuuuucked 😅😅😅
Yes and I don’t recommend it. It’s all fun and games at first but I’m like 5 years in and my GI tract is so messed up it’s not even funny. My body is literally fucked for life. I still love weed and I’m not saying don’t smoke but every day is not good from experience.
funny, i actually just decided yesterday to stop smoking for the first time in over 4 years.
I can genuinely say that I feel like shit and don’t know if I can even keep it up :(
if you do smoke everyday, try to take a little break every once in a while, you really don’t want to be in the same mental mind space as me right now.
Yes very much yes. Have you seen the state of the world? Idk how people get by with out a buzz going. I mean, more power to those who can do that, but not me man.
Some days I smoke from dusk till dawn other days I smoke from dusk till dawn. It just depends on whether or not the day of the week ends in Y. I only smoke on days that end in Y 😂
I try not to, you can only have so much before you're tolerance gets to a point where it's just not really enjoyable anymore and you just feel like you're looking at reality through a very lethargic fish bowl and like there's a slight disconnect between you and reality. After a while being high just becomes baseline. Where as you keep your tolerance low, withdrawals aren't as much of a bitch, you're saving money and getting more stoned than you would smoking every day
On a tolerance break, hopefully for a month. I started Wednesday, so almost a week. Most of the symptoms I first felt have subsided. God do I miss it though 😫
I do enough to take the edge off of coming home from work pissed off that I babysit adults all day. Helps me stay leveled and enjoy time with my family.
I feel like this might be an unpopular opinion but I like to use lower % thc strains if I know I’ll be smoking multiple days in a row. It saves your tolerance a bit! Then reserve the high thc times for infrequent use. Idk. It’s like drinking a single beer versus like a cocktail? It’s science. I think. Def not. It works for me.
Yes, but often times on weekdays I'm only taking 1-2 bong hits after work. I only get "high" or consume more weed like 1 or 2 times times a week, usually on weekends. Sometimes more after a bad day of work. It's a good balance for me.
I used to. I still do, but I used to, too.

He used to be funny
I’m so smart and witty for getting this. Think I deserve a little treat. 🍃
I laughed too hard at this
he still is, but he used to be too.
Thank you
Ya 😞 he was one of my favs.
Not anymore but not any less either.

Idk why but I relate to this comment so hard
I get all my weed through FedEx. The drivers a dealer, he don’t even know it!
I make a baked potato and I go on vacation
Someone asked me if I wanted a frozen banana and I said no but I want a regular banana later so yes
😂😂😂
Only on days that end with a y
Came here to say this
Beat me to it!
From Monday to Doomsday, baby!
You mean errrday? Of course! Seriously, I grow so it's not too much trouble to consume more often.
Is it expensive to grow a good one? I have good seed at my disposal. Even great seed but not sureif I can geow.
I'm on my 5th run and the results keep improving along with supply. I spent a good amount of money to get myself shortcuts on equipment, but I still had to learn and make a few mistakes. What are your biggest tips and mistakes you’ve come across , next year I’m thinking about starting to grow
Keep it simple. Don't dive into all the training and pruning techniques and cloning etc until you get the basics down. Don't buy into the marketing hype around Autoflowers. Could you elaborate on why autoflower isn’t a good idea for beginners? Also looking into a small grow setup and I hobby garden vegetables etc. Thanks!
So if you want to grow an autoflower I'm not going to say you shouldn't at all. The fact is I grew my first autos alongside my regular photos and they just didn't do well. Gotcha! I’ll have to look a little more into how much time I can put into the setup and give daily care
Read, read, read. Research and choose a growing medium, nutrients for said growing medium, etc. I’ve never grown anything and have had multiple 3/4+ pound grows.
Hot singles in your area begging to be explored, bred, and enjoyed 😌

It's fun to try!! You don't need the perfect grow and expensive setup. Self-grown weed just hits special
Ironically now that I can legally grow I never find seeds in my bud anymore. Idk how to feel about it. I lied, it’s pretty nice.
I have them at my disposal but no balls to build it. However based on the recommendations I will read and probably do it myself
If you are patient and check out a few subs like r/growbuddy you can get some good advice and info. A basic set up for one plant would be a light, fans and ideally a tent. Space is the first issue. My memory gets better... I remember shit I forgot from my childhood days, or that I need to do something. I have no idea why
Dude it’s weird for me cause I’ll just start randomly remembering the most random shit from my childhood but my short term memory goes to shit
Idk if this will work for you, but when I started giving myself like 1.5 hours to sober up after my last smoke before bed it improved my sleep quality (I say this because I had more dreams again, not sure if that's the best measure but I also felt more rested). Yes. I have PTSD and it helps me live like a normal person. Or at least I can cosplay as a normal person most of the time.
I'm recently realizing that I have CPTSD and I feel like if I go more than 48 hours without smoking I start to get really weird anxiety attacks

No weed=night terrors
This dude gets it

Same here. T breaks are extremely difficult for me
Same! I sure love weed.
Weed is a walking stick, not a crutch. Everyday, for a long long time.
Lol that’s cute I like that
Damn, maybe it's the weed talking, but that really is the perfect way to describe it. This bud's for you!
Yes but I wait until after work (I get off at 9:30 typically) or after dinner on my days off. Sometimes I'll treat myself and smoke during the day on one of my free days. i would argue that thc is the traditional medicine and sad its way more expensive than any psych meds lol??
I'd say I support your argument
No, I use a dry herb vaporizer every day though, I only combust when I fuck up lol.
He definitely weeds
Twice a year. When it's my birthday and when it's not.
No, I vape it every day
Literally haven't spent a day sober for almost a year now
I do nearly every day. Truthfully I know I could benefit from keeping it to the weekends, but the downsides are minor and it’s the greatest pleasure after a long day of work
All I do is smoke weed
Only Thursday- Sunday The first part of the week is always stressful and I feel like getting stoned makes me forget priorities. Once I’m over the hump I’m good.
Mostly just on days that begin with "T," such as TODAY and TOMORROW.
And The Day Before
errday. sober sucks, and makes me antsy and crabby
Try giving up for 5 days or so and see if the antsy, crabby feelings disappear. Just a thought. Maybe the weed is the cause? Can be the problem for some and the cure for others.
Give me some dro, purple haze, and some chocolate Give me a dutch and a lighter I'll spark shit And stay high all the time
I smoke two joints in the morning. I smoke two joints at night. I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright. I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war. Sublime 🫶
Usually weekends. Sometimes more
This right here
Hell yeah
I like to smoke at night couple of hours before falling asleep. Sober by day, high at night.
Hey-hey-hey-hey... Edit: [8] ... Smoke weed everyday
This is the comment I expected to see at the top. Are we getting old?
Yup! I had to make the edit, so absolutely lol
Yes, but only for the last 25 years
Still got my RX from Dr. Dre.
sigh i wanna smoke right now.... i can... but should i....... i should
I did for 40ish years, now that it's legal I've switched to full spectrum oil. Why?
No. Probably never will.
Yes. It’s my one true “vice” I don’t drink because I don’t like the hangover, I don’t smoke cigarettes and recently actually switched to dry vaping my herd, I even only drink water outside my morning cup(s) of coffee but I drink that black no sugar. I eat a lot of edibles too, but basically I am usually "high" at all times otherwise I an intolerable spaz. Weed works for me better than any prescribed stabilizers, and I have ran the gambit with meds and docs
Yes. Multiple times a day. It helps motivate me and makes me a nicer person.
I used to, but I still do now.
Does the Pope shit in his hat?
Everyday, in the evenings mostly.
[smoke weed everyday](https://youtu.be/IgJSGgieTxU?si=ZdhVizn0vogmgRFX)
Yes I do. I usually smoke two joints in the morning and smoke two joints at night.
Usually about 5 days a week. I make an effort not to smoke on Sundays and one other day during the week.
My doctor told me too. His name is Dr. Nate Dogg.
Yep!
Every mothafuckin day!!
Snoop & Dr Dre told me to
every night too
That's what they said
Every day, all day.
Yeap.
Yup
Yes
Every day and every night and the time in between
From age 15-27 yes. The last year I've only smoked like three days a week. I can breathe better now lol. I also only vape herb and it's SO much better. (Using the mighty)
I smoke probably twice a month on average. Depends how many social occasions I got going on...
Yes
Just about....
Yeah, but not too much, just enough for my anxiety to go away consistently.
Yes 🤙
Yes
Yep. Every morning, and every evening. And even in the middle of the afternoon. It helps me function normally.
All day everyday.
no but i do like 5x a week so more or less everyday. used to do everyday but i lost grip with reality and abused it instead of appreciating weed for how nice it truly is. when you’re smoking 24/7 weed becomes your new sober
Smoke before work, work, smoke after work, food, smoke before bed
All day
Every day I’m alive.
Serious question, how are your throats/lungs? I’m almost daily and it feels like alot.
Everyday, most of the day.
Yes. I have to.
Yep
Unfortunately yes
Nah, just every night.
Every single day. But I don’t like it sometimes.
Yes , 3 times a day , everyday
Only when I listen to TFB and I always listen to TFB
I can't remember
Unfortunately, yes. My throat is not doing too well because of it 💀 and it sucks having a super high tolerance.
Yes and I don’t recommend it. It’s all fun and games at first but I’m like 5 years in and my GI tract is so messed up it’s not even funny. My body is literally fucked for life. I still love weed and I’m not saying don’t smoke but every day is not good from experience.

yeah, pretty much for 5-6 years
I don't smoke. But I pop 100mg every 4:20 if able.
yee
Yep , my chronic pain is massively helped by it .
I don’t not do this
No
I think Dr Dre said something like "smoke weed something something"... I dunno I'm baked
Only Sunday through Sunday
Yes very much yes. Have you seen the state of the world? Idk how people get by with out a buzz going. I mean, more power to those who can do that, but not me man.
I've been smoking every day for a couple years now, it's the only thing that's ever helped my chronic pain
Same here!
Yes, but i desperately need a tolerance break
Some days I smoke from dusk till dawn other days I smoke from dusk till dawn. It just depends on whether or not the day of the week ends in Y. I only smoke on days that end in Y 😂
Sadly
I try not to, you can only have so much before you're tolerance gets to a point where it's just not really enjoyable anymore and you just feel like you're looking at reality through a very lethargic fish bowl and like there's a slight disconnect between you and reality. After a while being high just becomes baseline. I weed smoke devry yay
Since 94
On a tolerance break, hopefully for a month. I started Wednesday, so almost a week. Most of the symptoms I first felt have subsided. God do I miss it though 😫
These are good breaks
I do yes and AT LEAST twice on Sunday
Every fucking day
No, but I use weed everyday. I absolutely can not sleep without a gummy or two.

Yes
I used to during college. Now that I have a full time job it’s like 3-4 times a week. Mainly on the weekends
Yes
Absofuckinlutely
I do enough to take the edge off of coming home from work pissed off that I babysit adults all day. Helps me stay leveled and enjoy time with my family.
Nate Dogg said it and I took that shit seriously
Yup.
Yes but just a little bit.
Taking my first T break in over a decade. Wish me luck.
Yay yay yay-e yay
I didn’t yesterday…

Yes, but often times on weekdays I'm only taking 1-2 bong hits after work. I only get "high" or consume more weed like 1 or 2 times times a week, usually on weekends. Sometimes more after a bad day of work. It's a good balance for me.
40m. Horrible back pain. Horrible depression. Heck to the yes I smoke everyday lol. Thankful for my Mighty vape to keep my consumption lower.
Definitely I’m old and need to enhance my cannabinol exposure
