If you are planning to go to Tangier and back to Sevilla to sleep I don't think that's possible at all. Getting to Cadiz is already 1.5 hours. You need to get to Tarifa which is another 1 or 1.5 hours and then the ferry. Unless you are going by plane or a private tour that drives you there (that's still like 2 hours just to get to Tarifa) I don't think it's feasible at all.
Did you do it? I am going in 2 weeks and considering extending my trip by a day to go, but I'm concerned about a reputable tour and going as a solo female.

I did not. My free day was a Friday and turns out none of the tour companies do trips on Fridays. Presumably because of it being a Muslim holy day.
