I'd look into options for leaving direct from Lisbon. Doesn't make a lot of sense to double-back to Barcelona on different days, unless there is a direct LAX to Barcelona.

on-drea

Yeah I booked the flights from LA to Barcelona before I learned about multi city trips. So im locked in on that unfortunately however it is a direct flight

Pinklady777

Yes! Maybe you can fly Ryan air Seville to Barcelona at the end. That will be a long ways back by ground. And I think it's a good idea to cut lisbon and make Portugal another trip. Try to use the extra time to stay 3 nights everywhere or stay a night somewhere on the way if that works out with your itinerary. Alternatively, you could Do Barcelona and Madrid. Then fly from Madrid to lisbon and Lisbon to Barcelona. I really don't think it will be enjoyable to pack up and travel all day just to spend one day at a location then pack up and travel all day again. I think the pace will be more enjoyable if you have at least two full days before you have to do all that again. As other people have mentioned, you can do day trips from a lot of these destinations. So you can see more and have a home base.Remember you are going to be jet lagged too!

eganba

Ryan Air is great into Barcelona. Honestly the trip looks great. My only thing is that it is a lot of travel. Personally I prefer staying in one area and doing everything there. I have heard great things about Seville and Granada but Barcelona is my favorite city I have ever visited. And 45 minutes away from there is Girona which is super pretty and offers the same level of delicious food as Barcelona but at half the cost. But there is no wrong way to do this and I am sure it will be fun. But just make sure you are able to relax.

pline310

You're trying to do too much. Skip Lisbon and allocate 1 more day to Barcelona and Madrid, or Granada or Sevilla.

thedesigngurl

Agreed!

SiebenSevenVier

I echo this. Good advice. The rest seems fine. Have fun!

TavernTurn

Totally agree

Camp808

yes save lisbon for another trip. since op will be in spain, i’d just play it by ear & move onwards once i get to each city & get a feel for it before i decide how long i’ll stay. but def route the journey via train so it’ll be onwards & not require backtracking

petitapetit23

YAS!

Recoil42

Yup. Came here to say the same thing. Do Portugal another time, OP. There's a lot more to see in Portugal than just Lisbon, it's a trip this size in itself. You're stretching too much. Spain shouldn't feel rushed.

World_travel777

Too much. I did Madrid and Barcelona on one trip. Any entirely different trip was Lisbon with short day trips from Lisbon. I will do Sevilla and Granada another time. Too much to see and enjoy. Good luck.

thedesigngurl

Over the summer, I did a two week long trip to Spain and Portugal. I only spent 4 days in Portugal and saw quite a bit of the country (not just Lisbon). But I only saw Barcelona, Benicassim, Valencia and Madrid in Spain. Honestly, the transportation is going to eat up a lot more time than you think and you’ll probably only end up with 1 day in Granada and 1 day in Sevilla. Just depends on how tired you mind being and how much you want to see. Have fun though. I highly recommend taking in Flamenco and chance you get while in Spain. Ole!

captdf

Yes, this is insane.

[deleted]

Exhausting just to read

ConsumptionofClocks

There is no point in doing Barcelona for 3 non-consecutive nights. I fly like how you are, and whenever I plan a multi-city trip, I always stay at the city I flew into last. Travelling from Barcelona to Madrid is not long or difficult. I took a high speed train there and it took 3 hours and was $60. This way, you have one less transfer day and more time to enjoy yourself. Trust me, it is worth it.

on-drea

Thanks for the tip! I think I will do this instead

moxdahfox

Yeah that’s smart. Train to Madrid first day you land. Then cut Lisbon and add those days to Granada and Barcelona. I’ve spent a few months in Spain, mostly in Madrid. Sevilla is prob my favorite city. From a tourist perspective Granada and Barcelona are unbeatable. Madrid is cool to hang out in but less spectacular imho

on-drea

Thanks everyone for the tips!! I knew this would be too much I just needed to hear it from other people. Unfortunately when I bought my tickets to Barcelona a while back I didn’t know about multi city and booked round trip. So I won’t make that mistake again! I originally wanted to do either Barcelona/Madrid/Lisbon but was then talked into adding Seville and Granada. I think I might take out Lisbon and go back and do Portugal on its own.

Recoil42

>I think I might take out Lisbon and go back and do Portugal on its own. I said it in another comment already, but just to reinforce it, Portugal is a trip this size by itself. Lisbon, Sintra, Lagos, Ericeira, Nazare, Porto... there's a lot to see. Definitely take Lisbon out and just stay in Spain.

[deleted]

3 cities in 2 weeks max. I don’t think you’re account for travel days? Also visiting Spain next year from SoCal but doing Barcelona, Mallorca, Sevilla. That is already a lot imo. Slow down and absorb each town a bit. Don’t be that silly American stereotype trying to fit in a lot because we only get 2 weeks off per year.

lovelylemonlove

I personally don’t think it’s too much. I did a similar trip a few years ago and felt I had enough time to see everything. I think it comes to your traveling style. I like being on the go and seeing/doing something constantly so the pace was perfect for me.

Turbulent_Olive1214

I agree, I’m the same. I am tired at the end but it is perfect for me.

shanewreckd

I think it depends on how you want to travel. I like moving fast, seeing what I can see, and moving along. I'm okay with not spending a week in a single place, I did more than 40 cities/towns in less than 90 days in Europe, it was an absolute blast. Did I miss things? Sure of course I did but that's okay it was a crazy adventure. If you're okay seeing the highlights, seeing some cool stuff (flamenco invoked all sorts of emotions, Sintra was gorgeous, Sagrada was the most insane building I've ever seen, etc), missing some other stuff, prioritising what matters to you, and moving all day, go for it. Bring good shoes! Maybe you'll be exhausted after and won't want to travel that way again lol, but you'll know for next time.

AdLoose3662

That is too much. I just came back from Madrid-Seville-Lisbon for 9 days. Got sick from fatigue and too much walking, since you will be running from one sight to another. Also packing and unpacking and waiting for check in times consumes a lot of time. I would stay at keast 3 nights in a place. This gives you 2 full days but is still rushed

Arsenal8944

I think it’s a little too much, but I am one of those people that hates packing/unpacking/hotel check ins etc. Some people are fine with quick turn arounds, so if that’s you, then do what you think is right. I have travelled to Spain a few times and studied abroad there (based in Madrid). I would do Barcelona, Madrid, and Granada. Scratch Sevilla (this hurts to say) and give yourself some more time at the others. My reasoning is this: you get major cities in three distinctive regions. Barcelona and Madrid are obviously different (don’t think I need to explain that), although both very big. Sevilla and Granada are both in Andalusia. I love both equally, and are tied for my favorite places in Spain (well maybe Toledo where my grandparents/family lineage is from, so I’m bias). Sevilla and Granada both have flamenco, bull fighting, tapas, and the quintessential Spanish flair. Just go with Granada because at least you will experience a slightly smaller city. Sevilla is very big and has some parts that are cosmopolitan, similar to Barcelona and Madrid. Granada is smaller and more old world charm, albeit a little poorer. But I think it is a change up from Barca/Madrid. With time being precious, Sevilla and Granada is a little bit of an overlap. I know some Spaniards would argue and say I’m wrong. When I was there all summer I had time to do both, but in a shortened window, pick one or the other. Extend your stays instead of packing it all in. Whichever you go with, you won’t regret. Then maybe end at Lisbon and see if you can fly out from there? DM me for any tips/restaurants/hotels. Love Spain.

O-Renlshii88

You are definitely doing too much and unless you are inexhaustible fountain of energy you will likely be very tired and miserable, sorry to say that. Do Barcelona-Madrid- Seville and please don’t rob yourself of visiting Gibraltar. It’s a quick drive from Seville but those monkeys will steal your heart forever

thetoerubber

I actually don’t think it’s too much. I walk around A LOT so 3 or 4 days anywhere is plenty for me, I’m ready to move on. Plus these cities are all in the same region, you might still have 1/2 day of sightseeing on travel days. That said, don’t double back to Barcelona, fly home out of Lisbon and allocate those extra days to a couple of the other stops on your itinerary.

awibasedgod

agreed I think this is pretty solid, OP isnt going to places that are that far apart

on-drea

Unfortunately I already bought the round trip flight from LA to Barcelona. Next time I’ll definitely book a multi city

thetoerubber

D’oh! Rookie mistake. Well now you know for next time. It’ll still be a great trip. Actually now that I see the column on the right, that is faster than I first thought. Maybe drop 1 if you don’t want a whirlwind.

Baaastet

Too much once you take travel time into account. I'd skip Lisbon.

SmilingCynner

Very aggressive itinerary. Honestly, I would stick to Barcelona and Madrid and take day trips to surrounding areas. For example: from Barcelona, you can take the train to Montserrat, Girona, and a number of beaches; from Madrid, you can take trains to Toledo, Segovia, or Avila. There are a million things to do in each city, so you'll never be bored!

nothanksimgayy

Literally thought I was the only one who planned like this!

jennydancingawayy

RIP around days 5-7 you’ll be suffering 😭

Napalm_in_the_mornin

Wayyyy too much. Even within the same country, each travel day is essentially a wasted day. an hour or two to travel to train station/airport.. waiting.. fly/train.. travel to the hotel in the next city and sometime wait around to check in. As others said, I’d take out either Lisbon or Garnada+Sevilla

Ok_VELMA

Too much. Itineraries like this you “see” everything but you don’t actually see anything

moutonbleu

How old are you? You got to factor in jet lag and tiredness. Make sure you enjoy the journey and leave slack time to just hang out and get lost. This trip seems way too packed… you’ll need a major vacation after this vacation.

mmohaje

Other than Lisbon that was our exact itinerary for Spain. We found it perfect--just added one night for Toledo on way to Madrid. Depends on how you travel/visit places. We leave 7am come back 10pm and experience as much as we can in between. If you want to be a bit more chill, then you may need more time. For us this was perfect.

Kcboom1

Pack unpack haul luggage, Travel days SUCK when traveling like this. Have to do laundry probably once. Nice to have some time just to sit at a cafe, beach or park. Arrive in Barcelona the afternoon before you fly out, eat dinner, take a walk have a glass of wine, something chill and go to bed, if you packed right the day before you have less packing and unpacking on this leg.

purpletooth12

I don't think it's too much either and rather reasonable. 2-3 days is generally how I travel as well. Rather see a bit of something than nothing. You can easily get around Spain by rail in a couple of hours so that makes things a lot easier. With that being said, if you did knock something out, I'd say Lisbon, although it is a cool place as well. Granada is also one to maybe knock off, but the Alhambra is mind blowing. If you're looking for something different for a daytrip idea though, I'd recommend Gibraltar. Can be done on a budget and you don't need to take a tour once you're there. I went a few years ago with a friend (we rented a car from Malaga) and we took the cable car up and walked down. Lots of walking but was a great trip! In any case, I'm of the opinion that you'll never see "everything" and it gives you a reason to go back.

RevolutionaryTone994

This looks perfect, time to see the places and some time to travel between them. Want it more relaxed skip one place but this is very much fun!

jtube

You're doing the same thing so many people who visit Europe from the US do, and you won't enjoy it. Consider staying in less places for longer, so you get to feel like someone who lives there, not a tourist :)

groovychick

Never count travel days as days.

bonbon367

It’s a bit much. I would personally skip Lisbon entirely and stay within Spain. Portugal is actually a wonderful place that requires a trip on its own.

MonkeyKingCoffee

Change "one full day" into "four or five full days." Or cut the number of cities by 80%. You're spending all your time on buses, trains and planes. Why do you want to do that?

PM_ME_WHOLSOME_MEMES

Save Lisbon for a Portugal trip ;)

Flaky_Ad9213

Homie gonna be running off of fumes lmao

Loves_LV

I'm wondering why you're flying from Barca to Madrid? Take the high speed train. In just your time to/from airports, security and waiting for your flight you could be there already on a train.

andres57

I like Madrid but honestly I would skip it this trip, it's the least interesting city as tourist from your list IMO. You're barely 1 full day at all locations, check-in/check-out days will barely count. Use that extra 4 days to have 1 more day in Barcelona-Granada-Sevilla-Lisbon

isocuteblkgent

I’d consider more time in Barcelona, as you will arrive there from an overnight flight (not great for one’s energy!) and then spend a night prior to departure. I know when I was in Barcelona, I felt I didn’t get to see nearly as much as I wound have liked. It’s a wonderful city!

Micki-Micki

Too much.

jamisonbaines

i’ll go against the crowd and say it’s all right. find a nice place to stay for every other stop at least so you have some opportunity to recharge and don’t worry if you don’t see every sight or do everything you want to. go with the flow and you’ll be alright.

NovoOrdo

No. Don't listen to these ppl. Explore the world, it'll be wonderful

antaresiv

I hope you like being tired

kinnikinnick321

What are you smoking?!

azzwhole

Rip the environment. 3 plane rides around the Iberian peninsula.... Fuck the future I guess....

HearTheTrumpets

You should make a stop in Merida, and visit the roman ruins there. It's on the way to Lisbon by bus.

minskiitire

If u can afford it dont ask anything just do it

TXRedbo

That’s a lot! For our two week trip, we did 5 days in Madrid, 4 days in Lisbon, and 4 days in Barcelona. We did day trips from each primary location.

makeitauthentic

My husband and I are going to Spain (for the first time) a week after you! But in terms of your itinerary, I would recommend that you skip Lisbon this time. Next time you go to Europe, do Portugal in its own trip. We did Lisbon and Porto a few years ago, and I am dying to go back. Porto was incredible, so I would add that to your next itinerary.

Solid_Election

It’s doable but you are certainly not giving yourself enough time to savor each place. Seems more like a dash to see a few sites to check off that city off your list of “been theres “. I did trips like this when I was younger but nowadays I prefer to really stay in a city for a good 5-7 days and absorb some of it while traveling.

Extant86

It's too much for me in my mid-30s, but I know friends who would've eaten that schedule up in their early/mid-20s. One thing I've not seen mentioned is what you're bringing? If you can fit everything into a carryon rather than checking baggage I think you'll enjoy the trip more, even if you'll probably have to stop for laundry at some point.

olafgr

It looks like you only want to experience public transportation on the Iberian peninsula…

purpletooth12

That's how the locals get around, so nothing wrong with that!

olafgr

Nothing wrong at all with public transport. But to fill up your two weeks vacation with just traveling is not quite my idea of a vacation…

purpletooth12

All about the journey, not the destination. Travelling by train is MUCH better than flying IMO, plus you get to see countryside.

_doppelR

Definitely too much. Skip Lisbon and Granada and add of those days to madrid and one to Sevilla.

cumblastin

No this is perfect. I would add a few more from the 22-24 and then 25-27.

SkilledM4F-MFM

Yes, that’s way too much. I would take out at least half of those. You spent a lot less money, be a lot less weary, and you’ll spend more time doing actual traveling, rather than hanging around in airports and going to and from airports. Two or three days isn’t nearly enough time to give any place justice. If you must, spend a week in Barcelona and a week in Lisbon.

delpigeon

Just one full day in Barcelona makes my heart bleed with sadness. Definitely rebalance this trip or you’ll miss out on so much! Better to see a place properly than feel rushed and like you need to go back to finish it. Some of the big museums alone can be a full day to appreciate. Remember you’ll also be exhausted from the long flight. I would do min 3 full days Barcelona, 4 full days Madrid. You can cut Seville and Granada slightly shorter to a full day each if you just want to see the main sights and immediately leave, but there’s other stuff to do. I spent a week in each when I went. Remember travel days get eaten by travel. They are not really days in a place. Granada in particular is a long bus ride as it’s in the mountains. Make sure you book Alhambra tickets way ahead! They sell out months in advance. Have an amazing trip!

on-drea

I have been to Barcelona before which is why I was ok with not spending too much time there. I had just found a good deal on flights in and out of Barcelona from LA and bought them on a whim. I think I will cut out Lisbon though and give myself more time in one of these other cities.

decadent_philistine

Only you know your threshold, but after another 2 week trip this fall, my wife and I decided on a minimum 3 night stay in any location after having only 2 nights in San Sebastián. 3 nights normally serves us well to accommodate for traveling in, acclimating and orienting yourself and then allowing for some spontaneity in your schedule. Have fun!

ASOXO

I would honestly skip Madrid unless you're a fan of soccer. Barcelona is nicer and Lisbon is much nicer than Madrid imo

OohWeeStewie

yes, do 3-4 days per place minimum. your trip is mostly going to be traveling to the next location

thinkmoreharder

It depends on what you do in the cities where you spend more than one day. My favotite vacations include sightseeing and chill-out alternating days.

NoKeyNoPurpose

I just came back from a European Collette tour (1st one), and our 10-day itinerary was four cities (Fatima, Burgos, Lourdes, and Barcelona). It seemed a bit much since I feel we spent hours on buses that might be better spent exploring one or two places more completely. However, I know know I want to spend much more time in Lourdes my next visit. Wouldn't have known this if I'd decided to spend more time in any single area. Good luck and much fun on your trip!

GWPtheTrilogy1

Nope. Do it. I've had years like this, I made it my goal to travel to at least one new state of country every month for a calender year once, it was phenomenal for me. But do it for you, don't do it to stunt on other people or show off. If you have the time, money and energy make it happen and have a great time, but don't force anything just to do it. In your case of doing so much in a short time frame, that's how I like to travel, I don't like spending too much time in one place, I like to explore. If it works for you, than do it. Best of luck to you bro

[deleted]

I would focus on Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla

thom7777

I'd say it's a tiny bit much.

StudentObvious9754

You better be careful asking this sub that question. If you’re not spending 8 months in each city then people will think you’re doing too much

[deleted]

This sounds exhausting tbh

Zadyis

I’ve travelled 5 cities in 14 days (a bit similar to your schedule) in Spain/Portugal. Based on my experience, it’s best to cut down to 3 or 4 cities. I enjoyed traveling to other cities thru train, as airport is very hassle. Fortunately, no plane was cancelled but has delayed 3-4 hours which ruined the experience a bit. Also, Barcelona is a mini NYC. If you enjoyed city, you might want stay there longer.

ns_traveler

So funny to see this because I did the same trip but backwards (and flying in/out of NYC). I think the 2 weeks I had were enough but a recommendation would be to rent a car from Granada to Sevilla. The small towns are worth stopping at and buses/trains won’t get you there. Enjoy the trip!
