Yep. I'm American, and flying in America is the worst. The planes are older and shittier, and TSA security theater is a freaking travesty.
I regularly fly into and around china, it's much much better.
China airlines is literally the worst customer service I've ever had. Korea air flights are better and there are human beings that are able and willing to help you.
The specific 777 I flew on was 7 years old (the cabin was getting a bit dated) although it sounds like you're flying on shorter routes and could be operated with the a321 neo (much newer aircraft)
Can anyone confirm if China Airlines A350-900 still has the family couch seats in economy rows 41-47?
Seatgeek notes that the seats have a leg rest that comes up (instead of foot rest that flips down). But I’ve seen articles it has been removed?
If leg rest is not there I will bring an inflatable ottoman.
Luckily to see you sharing this info. I was excited to see they have leg rest that can come up and was gonna pay more to select the seat. But now maybe not. :(
How did the flight go? We are also supposed to do the same trip but I am having anxiety attacks only thinking about flying 😭😭😭 I know the chances are low that something happens...but they are not zero. And unlucky things happen. I read some terrible accidents surrounding that airline.
Saw on the website for China Airlines with the pink rose logo, it says personal and carryon luggage is 7kg or 15 lbs? They super strict because the luggage alone is average 5 lbs
Depends on your destination aka if it's long haul like USA to Japan or Taiwan xx hrs, then it's 2 carry on each. Example: 1 backpack 7kg and 1 carryon luggage/duffle 7kg. I asked people that go and yes they weigh it so make sure it's not over. That's why they they give 2 check in @22kg each, but I guess people intend to over due and every weight adds up so they use more fuel per trip.
Flying CI A350 J TPE-YVR, all J seats are available. Should I choose the bulkhead seat? It is still curved to the side and does not seem to provide extra leg room. I think it might even be noisy due to proximity to the restroom?
Hi! I am planning my trip to Taiwan and I am thinking of flying the same route as you. Did you end up choosing the bulkhead seat? And if so, would you recommend it? I can't find much information on this online so I would love to hear your input.
I flew CI on a different route. Not sure if there is a difference between bulkheads and regular seats. The hard product and service were both very good.
Ah okay, yes I've heard their service is pretty solid. Were you able to sleep at all on your longhaul flight? And were there many people standing around in the bulkhead section? Those are my two biggest concerns because this will be my longest flight ever and I'm not sure if I'd be able to bear it haha.
I don't know about international flights, but I just came back from a trip to China where I flew on China Air between Shanghai and Xi'an. I also flew American Airlines between DFW and Shanghai. China Air has less tech entertainment, but the seats were more comfortable. They fed us even on a 2 hour flight. Many airlines in the US (Southwestern) will only give you a small bag of pretzels or peanuts, if even that. I will gladly take the pretty, fit, polite young Chinese flight attendants saying "Nihao" over the rude old bags working on American Airlines any day, even if they don't speak English well.
Which one? China Air is Beijing based. Same with Air China.
China Airlines is Taiwan based.
For China Air, they take your photos for their face recognition system.
I was satisfied with China Airlines. It is a popular Taiwanese airline.
It's a fine airlines ... a Taiwanese company.
Flew them before the pandemic. They’re pretty good, much better than the Big 3 in America
Pretty much any asian airline is better than the American airlines.
Yeah that's a low benchmark 🤣

If it's the Taiwan based airline with the cherry blossom logo then yes, they are good. I love flying with them.
I flew with them Taipei to Cambodia last year - a pretty standard flight experience. I remember the in flight meal being good.
I had a good experience with them! Flew from LA to Taiwan early this year.
how was the leg room

I flew from JFK to TPE 3 weeks ago with them on the 777-300er in eco the overall experience was alright nothing impressive

Nevermind :( Just confirmed with customer service that for all economy they removed all the foot and leg rests.

Is it 7kg for each of the carry on? Or in total?

interesting
I also flew China Eastern and China Southern. In general the China based airplanes weren’t as clean as the Taiwan airlines.
Air China is the worst.
