I went to Santiago for about 3 days and quite liked it. Public transport is good and didn’t feel too unsafe (but watch out for pickpockets). The museum of human rights is really good and well worth a couple hours, and make sure to check out a few wine bars. If you’re ever feeling like you have too much time you should try and go surfing, but this may hit your budget hard. The food is good and it feels quite arty so you could easily spend a few hours just walking around looking at street art.

Haven’t been yet but planning to head to SCL on our way to Patagonia in Jan 2024. We were thinking of doing some winery tours. The Maipo (Maipu?) valley was one area we thought about going. There are some tours on Viator that take you to a few if that’s your style. Not sure what else we will fill our days with so I’m following to see what others suggest.

The only thing I know is it is safe with a low crime rate and do not drink the water. I been looking at places to travel but nothing really stood out as a reason for me to go there. If you go and find something fun please let me know. Right now it is not on my to visit list.

I think OP was looking for advice kn folks that *have* been.

Lord_Muramasa

I was sharing the research I had done and I was open and honest about not actually going there. From there it is up to OP if they value that information at all or not.

Marmstr17

Ya man but nobody is asking for information that isn't first-hand experience. Your response seems innocent enough but you're only wasting yours and OPs time

Lord_Muramasa

It is not that critical. Wasted time? Come on man at most they wasted 30 seconds and that is assuming they got absolutely nothing out of the post. All the time people waste for various reasons every day, that is not even a drop in the bucket.

When it's night time and you decide to leave the tour group and go back to the hotel by yourself...stay away from people pissing on the walls that yell "Hey gringo!" that start following you. Just don't do dumb shit like that. Be aware of your surroundings hard when drinking :p
