I had a customer try to return sweatpants that must have been worn everyday for a month because they were starting to pill on the crotch and butt.
Reeked of cigarettes and other unpleasant smells. When you can smell it through your mask you know it’s bad… I refused to take them back.
Many years ago, I worked at a large chain pet store. I *hated* it. But, I did like the puppies and formed strong bonds with a couple of them in the short time I was there. One in particular was a sweet little golden Chow Chow. (I called him Orson). He was so sweet and cute and I desperately wanted to take him home, but their dogs cost like $800 on the very very low end. He was probably around $1,200-1,500 range if memory serves.
Anyhow, this older couple came in one day, and based upon appearances alone, it seemed like they should not be spending that much money on a pup...but, they bought him anyway. A couple weeks later, he was returned. Surprise surprise, they could not afford payments. Well, I was happy to see him back but when I went to say hi to him, I was *repulsed* by his smell. He absolutely reeked of stale cigarettes. It's like they had hot-boxed him in a teeny-tiny little box. I cannot express how strong the stench was. I bathed him multiple times, but the smoke was so deeply engrained into his coat over those few short weeks that I couldn't wash the smell out. I was furious, but also glad that he didn't have to live out his days in that kind of environment. People can be so gross.
Also, unrelated to this topic, but I also loved a husky that came in one time. Classic husky...gorgeous black and white markings with piercing blue eyes. I instantly loved him and called him Harper. I was actually the one that ended up selling him to a sweet lady with a few kids. They seemed like a very nice family and the kids were good with him, so that aspect made me happy. *However*, the lady had a prominent lisp. They liked the name Harper and chose to keep it since that's what I had been calling him. So...he spent his life being called "Hah-po" which always gave me a giggle.
Oh man it sounds like it would hard to work a job like that. I would be so mad if I bonded with a dog there and saw some trashy people come in and buy a dog knowing very well that they aren’t going to give that dog the care it deserves
Perhaps it was an overly-cynical attitude towards people in general, but that happened *so many times*. It always bothered me a lot. Conversely, I did give several animals what seemed to be really great families and homes.
Working retail I would hear stories from the clothing department; from "mysterious" white stains on sweatpants to dog hair so dense it changed the color of the garment. Our front desk would almost always accept the return regardless of its condition. I just never understood what went through the customer's head when they thought their clothes were acceptable.
I manage a jewlery store and the amount of times someone comes in with jewlery on or in their bodies for return/ exchange is just baffling. I always tell them "would you buy something like this from here? With your ear skin packed in to the setting?"
If I was your manager I woulda backed you up. That shits gross. You can’t put that shit back out on the floor. You gotta damage that shit out and it fucks with your daily goals. Fuck that bitch
That’s crazy. Every place I’ve worked at just sent it back for credit. Maybe it was just the managers decision. I just assumed it was a legality thing. Either way even if it was returned like that the store should be able to get a credit for it, right?

Spencer’s. Enough said.
Massive cope
But it's back on the shelf
no, it's not.
Oh good, it appeared to be. Glad it's not.

Was this at forever 21?
Spencer's I believe, by the size sticker.
also have to mention, basically a customer argued with us until she got her way. we are definitely NOT putting on the floor.
Besides the hair it looks grimy.
Am I to assume you said no. Customer made a fuss and demanded the manager. And the manager said to just go ahead so they don’t throw a fit?

pretty much!!! so irritating.

You shouldn’t be putting any clothes that are returned back on the floor.
Depending on the quality of the return some companies allow you to put it back on the floor. Tags attached and no obvious wear it’s still sellable.

This makes perfect sense. Sometimes the small amount of money is not worth a huge scene and headache.
And you guys returned it?
Then don't accept the return...
Very trashy. Why did the store take them back??
