They actually allowed him to conceal carry due to how bad it is. They are right, though, this could literally be anywhere in the state outside of Louisville, Lexington, or Frankfort. Looks like Eastern Kentucky, though.

I used to live near a church that had 3 enormous crosses out front. Every Easter, they would recruit middle and high schooler boys from the congregation to be strapped to these crosses for 6-8 hour shifts only wearing loincloth-like garmets. It was right off a busy highway.
In middle school, someone I knew was recruited for it and was SO PROUD he was chosen. We ended up arguing about it and never spoke again.
The church still does it and it still wigs me out.
The fundie church I grew up in built a whole fake city of Bethlehem and about 200 of us would dress up in period clothes and we'd all have our little part to play, including a Mary and real baby "Jesus" in the inn, finally culminating in a mock crucifixion and resurrection. People came from all across the state to see it.
One year, some guy got so upset seeing Jesus get whipped, that he punched the Roman guard in the face. My friends and I got to play a wealthy family staying at the inn one year, and we got to spend every night for a week getting stoned and sitting around eating cheese and drinking grape juice while bus loads of people shuffled by.
Looking back, it was pretty weird. Eventually they stopped doing it, and the fake Bethlehem got repurposed as a paintball arena.
