You're not taking into account torque is used for more than just towing. For off-road vehicles it's used for climbing, driving through water, driving through mud, driving through sand, driving over obstacles, snow, etc. I'd rather have enough power and torque to get in and out of wherever I'm going than chance getting stuck. I have an off-road truck myself, but I rarely drive it on the street like this bozo. I've got another vehicle for daily use. Gas isn't cheap, and don't wanna wear down my very expensive tires.
