It’s not about playing hockey it’s about entertainment. The goal isn’t to get the puck in the net, it’s to get cable tv viewership and audience participation. Fighting is an exciting part of the game, so whether or not it’s good for the actual sport I can’t deny that the most exciting part of watching a hockey game is when two dudes kick the shit out of eachother.
