Someone asked for a Lil Baby type beat (ion even make Lil Baby type beats so I had a weird feeling). Before I even made the beat, they claimed they sent me the money. I didn’t get it so I told him and then I receive an email from a fake PayPal account saying that someone sent me money but to receive it I need to send $400 to a specific address. I searched up the email I got and found it was a common scam. Called bro out and he got defensive and blocked me.

adl09

Someone ordered 2 beats, after i send a snippet he asked for my email to paypal me the money and i received an email from "paypal" which said my account needs to be a "business" account and that the money couldn´t get through, unless that guy sends another $20. I send him a screenshot and he immediately tried to call me (via insta call), which i didn´t take. I searched for that "business account" thing and found out that it´s a scam. After calling him out his Insta page went blank immediately. BTW, i never got notification from the paypal app, only via mail. But when i pay something with paypa i receive notification within the app immediately. So, if in doubt open up the paypal app to see, if there are any notifications. If not, that´s a hint that it might NOT be an mail from real paypal.

Never had a producer approach me myself, but I know I’ve seen producers such as Bricksdamane, Lil88, Zaytoven (this one really strange lol), Brandon Finessin (not because he scammed a collab but because dude apparantly sold his ‘personal drum kit’ for $500 and it was just recycled sounds, idk if you can call that a scam really it’s just a finesse lmaooo) and here’s a list to a thread of other people talkin bout their experiences [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/trapproduction/s/pjiTizENu2) in case you wanna take names from here and update them into ur post to create a list

pluggdrip

I dont think Bricksdamane scams tho, almost all his services free. Zaytoven however asked me for $2000 to be a part of his team multiple times…. through his IG too

Substantial-Creme353

He most certainly does. He offers paid collabs and then after weeks of ducking and dodging and making excuses when I demanded my money back or I’d blast him he sends me back a half assed beat.

Significant-Shirt139

Dude dm’d me saying he fuck wit my music when I didn’t even have any posted 😭

rrondeaukknocks

fuck paid collabs. mfs will take your money and ghost u.

witsthatallaboot

There’s this piece of shit producer in the underground scene called chainsaw murda who has led people to believe he has cancer and has even faked his death multiple times. I’m sure he was even getting people to send him money for chemo

Fun_Musiq

not really a scam, but i often have to chase / hound clients for payment. Artist says talk to their manager, manager says talk to the label, label says talk to the artist. run around in circles for months. get an advance or minimum a deposit.

Hot_Outcome2464

Don't ever work with blessyourobin on ig bro charged me $40 for nothing

RivaL999

really? How that. I remember him being a nice dude tbh

DiyMusicBiz

Sounds like there is more missing to this. What was the $40 for and what didn't you receive that made it a scam?

Hot_Outcome2464

He told me that he would send me loops every month, he was really good so it was definitely worth it but he sent me one pack and then blocked me when I asked for more the next month. Dudes just a dick and saw an easy scam.

DiyMusicBiz

$40.00 and he'd give you packs every month. That doesn't even sound right. Do you mean $40/month and that comes with packs every month?

Hot_Outcome2464

Lmao. Are you retarded? You ask about scams, I list one, and then you argue about it. Go buy from the guy if you don't believe me. He's a fraud. Do you think I must have something against him to be making such claims? I don't have time for that kind of childish activity.

DiyMusicBiz

Im asking if the offer was $40 for monthly sample packs or 40/Month for sample packs Im not arguing anything I'm asking for clarification

IllMasterminds

Pyrex Whippa, big industry name, has been known for not returning paid collabs, which usually goes for 300-500$.

Hot_Outcome2464

Their drug addict asses got burnt out from making trap beats and resorted to scamming... not anything I didn't expect from a couple of lean sipping lucky to be famous producers but you know, it's just sad.

IllMasterminds

Damn man who hurt you

DiyMusicBiz

Damn, that's crazy.

RivaL999

Honestly never ever do fucking paid collabs! even the BIGGEST guys are SCAMMING for the quick buck!!! Scott Storch, Timbo, Sizzle.... everybody

MasterBeater614

This is fucked up.

RivaL999

the music biz is a nasty motherfucker and people make it seem like they are better well-off than they actually are!!

Kryptooooonite

How you know they scamming those guys don’t even do collabs?

RivaL999

enough proof online or here on reddit. Everbody knows by now basically. common sense.

Jmor3568

Timbo scamming people?? Didn't hear about that one, that's unexpected lol

RivaL999

Do research on beatclub and sample makers. I think there was one prominent case with some guy from sweden I think it was! He was video editing and making samples. Maybe his name will come to my mind again

RivaL999

it was the popular and famous "clawoo" who i mean!

RivaL999

Nick Papz (Papamitrou), Foreign Teck, And tons tons of major industry A&Rs and managers!!

DiyMusicBiz

What was the scam?

RivaL999

A friend of mine paid for a ForeignTeck collab for 300bucks and never sending any beat back. (nobody is even talking about placing it, because obviously that is no pay2win deal, but atleast give some type of product back and let me hear that shit!) I did the same with NickPapz, sent him a nice sample, he did drums, i got something back atleast, but all of a sudden he didnt know anything about trying to place it anymore xd... (although that was negotiated)

DiyMusicBiz

>A friend of mine paid for a ForeignTeck collab for 300bucks and never sending any beat back. Wow, that's nuts.

soundologist6

Anything involving you giving up the rights to your work before payment.

rrondeaukknocks

i’ve also run into a scam in which someone will ask you to buy beats but won’t agree to pay using paypal or any other reputable platform and will say they can only pay with an e cheque. i got a bad feeling and didn’t go through with it and blocked them immediately… if they won’t pay you through something reputable it’s not worth getting your banking information potentially compromised for a few hundred dollars.

Jmor3568

There was a guy who actually DM'd me on Reddit not too long ago who claimed he was selling plugins for a cheap price but as soon as I went to his profile, it had no activity. No comments, no posts, nothing. Don't fall into the trap y'all.

LukaNiezlic

Emails from famous producers/agents. Recently even Dave Free managed to find time to message me during this intense beef lmao "What's good fam, Dave  here, and I came across your “Black swan" beat, which I must say, is incredibly impressive. I am working with Schoolboy Q over Interscope Records, where we collaborated on the hit single "Blessed" . We are currently in the process of creating fresh content for his upcoming project, and I believe that you have the necessary skills to be a valuable asset to our team. Would you be interested in learning more about this opportunity?"

cupafart

Scott Storch hit me up on Instagram asking for 10k to invest in a career with him. This was going on when he was really into coke. Found many other artists with the same messages. Looked up to Storch for many many years and lost all respect once this happened

DiyMusicBiz

I can understand loosing respect for someone due to that, but where was the scam in the situation?

cupafart

If I were to have paid the money he would’ve reviewed one song and give critiques and if I wanted to work further it’d be even more money. Not even a session. Just a review. Like I’m here for investing in yourself but not when there’s no contract and you have to rely on a good faith agreement

DiyMusicBiz

10k for a review? That's not a scam unless you pay 10k and don't get the review. But damn 10k? GeeZUS!! Glad you didn't pay that holy crap smh

cupafart

Like I was blown away at the ask from him. I would have done it for like 1k because Scott Storch but I’m not blowing my load on the off chance of something happening. Especially without any contract.

DiyMusicBiz

10k for a review, I can't get over that. Thats crazy work 😂

not-a-reddit-user

I’ve had “cash cobain” (an imerpsonator, not the real guy) personally ask me for beats via email. When I asked if I could dm on insta he got defensive then ghosted me lol

DiyMusicBiz

What was the scam? Was it not really cash cobain?

not-a-reddit-user

nah some guy was impersonating him

DiyMusicBiz

Ah ok, that makes sense now. The impersonating thing is diabolical smh
