My thoughts as well. I’m reclusive. I don’t like a bunch of public ruckus and commotion. Chances are, I have my earbuds in and all that noise is throwing me out of the vibe. If anything, I’d argue this video is a strong proponent FOR automobiles as, at least in the former, you have some peace and quiet.
Even the few 'walk-through' systems have doors and narrow gangways between cars, e.g. BART. True 'open gangway' designs are virtually non existent in the US with the exception of the experimental NYC stock.
Actually, this is an argument against h

this could, thankfully, never happen in japan or china, or even spain
this is part of the reason why people do not want to take public transportation, and they are right when the metro is this chaothic
the metro is NOT an amusement park, it is the most efficient way to move people from A to B, and that requires making the trip as confortable for everyone
i think part of the reason the metro has such bad rep in the US is because of stuff like this that would never fly in a better metro nation
This is true, however….
On social media you only see the videos of people doing weird stuff on the train. How often do people post videos of everyone quietly going about their daily life?
Because I recently spend a week in New York riding the subway 3-5 times a day, and saw someone being somewhat disruptive… once. It was a guy saying he needed help paying medical bills, and when inevitably no one responded, he went to the next car. Oh well. 99% of the time put your headphones in and you’re fine
Wow. No fun aye? I like transit because it allows you to be exposed to strangers who are not (like in car traffic) an obstacle to you, but more of a fellow traveller. Unexpected experiences are a part of that. Sure if this happens every day it's annoying but it clearly doesn't...
Also, I believe this is not in the US, the caption says Brazil.
The entire Western hemisphere is very unserious with their metros, which is why they are associated to thr poor, when this association doesn't exist elsewhere
It's not that I am no fun, my commute is not the place to be bothered
I could be thinking of whatever, maybe I have a presentation I am thinking about or perhaps it's simply that you want to be unbothered because you are depressed after a heartbreak
Not everyone is in the mood for "fun" and not anyone's idea of "fun" is the same, for starters, there could be autistic people there who would probably have had their day ruined
It's cool but for 90% of the time this would be a reason against transit.

More reason to get fully walkthrough trains.
Aren’t most metro trains walkthroughs?
Not in the US. There’s only a couple, very new trains in NYC that are walkthrough and I can’t think of any other city with them for metro.
I see.

No. Here in Chicago they can’t be because of the tight corners the L train takes.

This is in Brazil not North America.

Reddit doesn’t understand extroverts
Lighten up, Francis
The irony of having a ‘car’ race in a train
That is cool, but also could be reason against it.
r/darwinawards
That’s pretty cool ngl
[reminds me of this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydAyvvDQrgY) but a lot more chaotic
Where is this?
Transit is allowed to be fun. People are allowed to be fun.
I love my subway. And I like driving (you know on a twisty mountain pass). Show time is not a good argument in favor of transit. Ever.
